00:00:02.919 --> 00:00:26.760
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, metal's my religion, and yeah, it's my dope. Standing in the thunder on stage in the pouring metal rain. What a feeling, baby, the lights are exploding.

00:00:56.380 --> 00:00:58.240
Hello and welcome back to

00:00:58.320 --> 00:01:27.660
The Metal Disciple.com's Metal Heads Podcast. My name is George. And I'm Buke. Do you remember who we are? So how is your baby doing, George? Shut up. So when I had a kid, we were gone for what, two weeks, three weeks, tops? We've been gone for over a month and a half now. And no child. As I was telling Buke the other day, January is always a bit of a dead zone for me. It's not like I'm one of those people that gets depressed in the winter time. I'm depressed all the time.

00:01:29.680 --> 00:01:58.280
But I just can't get motivated to do anything with music in January. When the holidays come around, everything kind of grinds to a halt. There's no music coming out, and you're focusing on family and friends and whatever, and it's just sort of a time to stop thinking about music. And for me, I kind of need that time, because after, you know, I'm so obsessed with hunting down new music all year and trying to

00:01:58.300 --> 00:02:28.260
just come up with all this stuff for the website and the podcast that by the end of the year I'm pretty burned out. Yeah I was just you have a lot on your shoulders with your job you know you transition to a new role you know you're doing a lot more work and on top of that you got the website to maintain the podcast to do and edit and put out and publish and all that stuff find all this new music so you know you just need a couple weeks. Yeah and so it's kind of hard to get rolling again in January because I'm like I'm just getting sort of relaxed at that point the palette is clean as well.

00:02:28.820 --> 00:02:33.840
I can sort of scrape off the music from last year and start thinking about the new year.

00:02:33.850 --> 00:02:36.420
And I tend to have a theme for my year.

00:02:36.650 --> 00:02:44.600
Like last year was a lot of sludge, you know, and that was sort of brought on by the Trypticon album early in the year.

00:02:44.680 --> 00:02:49.160
And the year before that, it was like doom and funeral doom and stuff like that.

00:02:49.600 --> 00:02:53.900
And so at this point, I'm kind of feeling out my theme for the year.

00:02:53.940 --> 00:02:55.220
And I actually already have it.

00:02:55.220 --> 00:02:56.600
And we'll talk about that a little bit later.

00:02:57.740 --> 00:03:27.680
But yeah, so I don't know what it is. I just have trouble getting started again in January. And to pile on top of that, there's been a lot of problems with the website for MetalDisciple.com and for the Metal Heads podcast. And so it's that time of year where I'm redesigning the sites. It's happening again. It is again. I just did it again last year. Probably the year before. Yeah. And I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess, but I'm just never satisfied.

00:03:27.840 --> 00:03:57.660
with the way it turns out. And the last few months, I've had a lot of trouble with the site going down or the site is up, but I can't get to where I need to to put up new articles and things like that. And shall we just say, we're not big enough for hackers to come after us. It's happened. But it has, yes. Several times we've been hacked and taken down. Fuck you, hackers. You remember one time it was your picture looking back at you with a quote or something underneath it? Yeah, yeah. They got in. I have various sites. I've got a photography site.

00:03:57.740 --> 00:04:26.900
where I put my photographs that I used to do. And they took a picture of me and put it on the Metal Disciples site as the homepage and some sort of message. I was like, oh, that's just, that's insult to injury, man. But anyway, I decided, you know, I really, I can't just wait until I'm done with the new websites to, you know, we'll just have to make do with the sites that we've got. I'll work on these new ones in tandem and they'll be ready when they're ready. But in the meantime, we need to get moving again.

00:04:26.980 --> 00:04:54.940
So let me ask you this quickly. We talk about it takes you a while to cleanse out the palate. Me being a big video game guy, my video game podcasts, while a lot of them it's their job to put out new content every week, it does slow down for them too. In the video game world, you don't really see the games that go on to be album of the year come out around January, February. They're more your April, your May, your September, November.

00:04:55.530 --> 00:04:55.680
Yeah.

00:04:56.060 --> 00:05:25.860
When did Trip, do you remember when Trip to Con came out last year? I believe it was early February. Okay, because we're going to get to it in our new releases, but there's an album that came out now that's right now, by far, my frontrunner for, it would have been my album of the year last year. Really? And it's making an impact now, and you wonder, with something coming out this early, does it hang on for the rest of the year? That's really what you have to find out. I mean, it's kind of nice to have a jumping-off point to go and say,

00:05:26.060 --> 00:05:54.880
Okay, here's the album to beat. And then everything that comes along afterward, you're like, okay, is this better or worse? Better? Okay, no. Okay, then this is the new standard. Okay, better or worse. And you just sort of, throughout the year, you do that. I haven't found my album yet that's, there are several albums that I am very, very into. However, one of those albums came out last year. And we're going to talk about that. And some of the other ones, while I really dig them,

00:05:55.640 --> 00:06:25.620
I'm not sure that the style of music that it is is something that I could stand by as album of the year. Yeah, we'll get to it. Because there's got to be a certain level of originality. I was just, you took the words out of my mouth, yeah. And while something may be really fucking badass in a particular style, if it's not a particularly new style, if it's something retro, it could be a great album. But I don't know if I, it would have to be really amazing to make album of the year. Okay. One last thing before we go.

00:06:25.640 --> 00:06:55.520
we get into our other topics to start. In listening to my video game podcast, they were doing all their end of the year. I probably subscribed to six or seven different ones. Nerd Alert. And they were doing all their end of the year talk and stuff like that. And then they were doing personal best of lists and stuff like that. Which got me thinking. You look at greatest heavy metal albums of all time. Can an album, because technology in video games,

00:06:55.640 --> 00:06:57.540
is always evolving.

00:06:57.960 --> 00:06:58.080
Sure.

00:06:58.300 --> 00:07:02.580
But you look at the greatest video games of all time, a lot of them are games that have already come and gone.

00:07:03.180 --> 00:07:03.580
Tetris.

00:07:04.000 --> 00:07:06.140
Yeah, Mario, stuff like that.

00:07:06.200 --> 00:07:09.880
The innovators, the originators of it.

00:07:10.040 --> 00:07:13.120
Personally, my favorite video game of all time is probably Donkey Kong.

00:07:14.200 --> 00:07:15.300
I played that as a kid.

00:07:15.300 --> 00:07:16.040
I see the likeness.

00:07:16.340 --> 00:07:16.860
Yeah, I know.

00:07:17.720 --> 00:07:24.340
I plugged a lot of quarters into Donkey Kong, Frogger, Galaxian, Galaga.

00:07:25.100 --> 00:07:54.760
I was never very good at Pac-Man. I could play it like on the game consoles, but the actual arcade Pac-Man, I always sucked at. Yeah, now I suck at Donkey Kong. But that age difference between us, I was at the NES era when you were on this. But it got me thinking that hearing these guys talk about their lists, year-end lists and all-time lists, can something come out in the metal world now that can make the top 25 albums of all time,

00:07:54.840 --> 00:08:24.820
top ten metal albums of all time? Or is that list so etched in stone at this point? Because, for example, you look at Mario Bros. I know it's... Follow me along. But, you know, Mario Bros., its place in video game history is there. Yeah. Your Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath. While people may have varying opinions of the band over the years, can a metal album come out to...

00:08:24.860 --> 00:08:28.120
to start something new other than your

00:08:28.640 --> 00:08:33.000
Reign and Bloods. All those other albums that, you know, British Steel.

00:08:33.659 --> 00:08:36.940
Because, you know, what more can you, like we talked episodes back,

00:08:37.300 --> 00:08:39.719
what more can you really do now?

00:08:40.150 --> 00:08:43.960
Well, honestly, I'm sure there will be albums that make these lists

00:08:44.490 --> 00:08:45.720
that have yet to come out yet.

00:08:46.050 --> 00:08:48.420
The thing is that the longer Heavy Metal is around,

00:08:48.850 --> 00:08:51.000
the more specialized the lists have to become.

00:08:51.959 --> 00:08:53.960
More subgenres of said list?

00:08:54.220 --> 00:09:24.140
Well, like best 70s metal bands, best 80s metal bands, best, you know. And yeah, you'll be like, okay, best death metal bands, best black metal bands. Because, you know, there's so many subgenres now, it's almost impossible to compare Black Sabbath to Impaled Nazarene, you know. You can't compare Napalm Death to Judas Priest, you know. It just doesn't, you know. So you sort of have to, I would think,

00:09:24.220 --> 00:09:53.760
I think the longer things go on, you really just have to put them in their spot and judge based on that. By time period, by style, something along those lines. It made me think about my own, you know, my established favorite albums of all time. They're there. I don't see what could come. It would just be doing that, but doing it better to unseat those. Yeah. I mean, honestly, if you told me five, six years ago, there's this band,

00:09:53.780 --> 00:10:23.400
that's going to be around. Well, that technically at the time was around, but I wasn't aware of them, called Woods of Epre, that would turn out to be one of my favorite bands. Yeah, that's a great point. It would have been like, you're crazy, man. You know, I'm an old dog. You're not going to teach me new tricks. But then, boom, Woods of Epre came along, blew my mind. Still one of my favorite bands. Yeah. Again, bringing this full circle, Mario 64 is, in the video game world, one of the greatest,

00:10:23.760 --> 00:10:50.200
as they call it 3D platformers of all time. But that came out, what year was that, 98 or something like that? 97? In my opinion, games have been a lot better graphically and whatever. Storytelling. But that game still is the top. It's hard to compare video games, but I thought the topic we could talk about. I will still get on an emulator and play some of the early Atari 2600 games that I played as a kid.

00:10:53.780 --> 00:11:23.620
a game programmer, I could probably program something like that. It's just some pixels on the screen. But it's just, it's simple. Because to put this in middle terms, Rain and Blood's a great album. Do you think there's albums out there doing the same genre that are better? Or is Rain and Blood the definition of perfection to a thrash album? Or is it when it came out, the time it came out, puts it on that pedestal that nothing can top it?

00:11:23.780 --> 00:11:53.740
I do think that rain and blood is on a pedestal that nothing can topple is it perfection I don't I don't think perfection really exists but it is certainly a damn fine example of what a quality thrash album should be can anything be better than that well that's at that point you're talking about everybody's individual taste I'm sure there are many people that think Slayer suck and that you know Pantera is way better you know and that's their opinion but regardless you gotta you gotta

00:11:53.780 --> 00:12:23.620
of respect to the bands like Slayer that obviously the majority of people agree Rain of Blood is a classic album. Okay, I just wanted to mention that after hearing these end of year podcasts. And again, too, don't feel so bad. They really are doing their podcasts. You can hear them really trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel to try and come up with topics and stuff, too. So I'm not sure what happened this past week. On January 27th,

00:12:23.780 --> 00:12:52.780
It was a Tuesday. Perhaps it happened on January 26th and we didn't see the results until the 27th. But somebody somewhere with some sort of reach and influence obviously shared our last podcast, the year-end podcast number 20, somewhere. Because the listens literally went through the roof. We probably got more listens in one day on the 27th than all of our other podcasts combined.

00:12:53.160 --> 00:12:54.000
By far.

00:12:54.220 --> 00:12:54.680
By far.

00:12:55.720 --> 00:12:59.060
I looked at the stats and my eyes almost popped out of my head.

00:12:59.060 --> 00:13:00.380
I was like, what the hell?

00:13:00.640 --> 00:13:00.820
Yeah.

00:13:01.100 --> 00:13:02.840
Did Eddie Trunk say something about us?

00:13:02.840 --> 00:13:05.320
I mean, seriously, I don't know who did this.

00:13:05.780 --> 00:13:11.140
So if you're our mysterious benefactor out there that happened to share this somewhere

00:13:11.300 --> 00:13:15.640
where a lot of people would see it, thank you and maybe get a hold of us.

00:13:16.720 --> 00:13:21.760
Maybe it's somebody here in the States who lived up in the New England area when the blizzard

00:13:21.960 --> 00:13:22.380
was happening.

00:13:22.460 --> 00:13:52.420
Yeah, that's probably what it was. Everybody was snowed in and they had nothing better to do than listen to our podcast. Even the end of year list, hit-wise, is blowing up. Yeah. On the Metal Disciple site, there is a list of the top five most read articles or whatever. It's like an automated thing in the site. It just looks at the hits and says, these are the, you know, dynamically changes them as these are the most read articles. And I don't think I actually put the best one

00:13:52.440 --> 00:14:22.400
100 list into the same category that would be pulled into there. I have to change that because it is definitely like second or third most read article on the site. And again, that was like practically overnight. It was doing pretty well, but it literally like quadrupled in views. And people are retweeting it and favoring it and tweeting it out on Twitter and Facebook and stuff. Yeah, we're still feeling the aftershocks. It's not as much as on the 27th, but... You know what? I gotta admit though, it kind of made me feel good. It made me feel really good.

00:14:22.440 --> 00:14:52.420
It made me feel good to sense that. Remember I posted our list on Reddit? And of course, like the internet, the nice internet that it is, the comments were like, oh, why are you doing a hundred list? What's the difference between 86 and 45? Yeah, I'm like, you sent me that and you ruined my whole day. I know it did. Reddit, if I can just go on record as saying Reddit is fucking the home of trolls. It's all it is. It's like one big, it's like where, where blabbermouths

00:14:52.440 --> 00:15:21.800
is like trains their commenters you know all it is is one big comment list and it looks like shit it's impossible to read because it's just this nested bullshit and all it is is people talking shit about things and you send me this post and people are like saying things like you were just saying about how well the list is too long and oh he obviously can't tell the good from the bad because he's got such a long list i'm like did you read the fucking introduction i explained why it was such a big list

00:15:23.020 --> 00:15:51.560
Wouldn't you rather have a bunch of good albums that you might want to check out instead of just 10 or 20? And you know, somebody was like, oh, you just released a list of everything that came out last year. If you think only a hundred albums came out last year, you're a fucking fool. Yeah. Thousands of albums came out last year. I just chose a hundred of the ones that I thought people should hear. And it's the ones that are like 21 to 100 that are probably more important.

00:15:51.700 --> 00:16:21.660
Because one through twenty, everybody knows about anyway. Yes. Those are the ones that everybody's talking about. Every site has it. I'm trying to give you a list, a big list, that I have compiled throughout the year of all these obscure bands that you should check out. And another guy was like, well, there's not even any description or anything. How am I supposed to know what it is? Go fucking look it up, you moron. You're on the internet already. That's what gets right here. You're on the internet. You can go

00:16:21.700 --> 00:16:50.920
to your browser. It takes you two seconds to copy the name and album, go to YouTube, plug it in, and look it up. That's how I find this shit. And so, you know, I'm sorry I didn't have time to write a paragraph for a hundred albums. Yeah, so knowing that our views went up, I am glad, because I know I unintentionally... Oh, you fucking, like, devoured my soul that day. I was just like, fuck these people. I'm not making any more fucking lists.

00:16:50.980 --> 00:17:20.880
I'm done with it all. Well, there was a point in the last month where I was ready to shut the whole Metal Disciple and the podcast down. Not because of that, more because of the fucking technical issues in the background where my hosting company, whom I normally love, could not get the site fixed. This happens every couple months, guys, just to let you know. When the podcast feed didn't work earlier in the year, you're best... I was like, fuck it, we're done! Shut it down!

00:17:21.300 --> 00:17:40.800
Well, I just, it's so much stress to keep up with when I've got a full-time job and, you know, a wife and a house and a yard and family and things. I don't have a full-time job worth of time to put into maintaining this thing. And if shit's not going to work, then, you know, I'm done.

00:17:41.480 --> 00:17:47.840
So the comments, keep them nicer or go elsewhere. George is soft.

00:17:47.900 --> 00:18:17.880
I realize, you know, like I told you after this, I said, this is why you don't read your own press. Because nobody gives a shit about what you do or say. And, you know, I mean, I've seen some nice comments, you know, where people shared the list on Facebook, and people made comments. And I've seen plenty of nice things. So, you know, for every nice one, you're going to get five more people that tell you you're a fucking asshole, and that you suck, and you don't know what you're talking about. Well, you know, everybody's

00:18:17.920 --> 00:18:47.880
got different opinions and so that's that's just gonna happen so you just got to deal with that and i understand that it's more the frustration of not making things work that makes me want to give up sometimes anyway so if you are the person that gave us such massive exposure please get a hold of us we'd love to talk to you so one of the things we were talking about aside from here in the past month was albums that we missed out on last year that we didn't hear in time perhaps to get on the list or whatever

00:18:47.960 --> 00:19:17.280
And you mentioned that you had some albums like that that you wanted to talk about. I just wanted to start out by saying that it didn't make my top 20 list. And I think Will had it on his and I think you did on yours. I didn't give the job for a Cowboy album enough credit as to how awesome that album is. To see where that band started at to where they've evolved now. Amazing album. It is. From that group. Yeah, it's a great lesson.

00:19:17.360 --> 00:19:46.900
And it's Sun Eater is the name of it. And I just wanted to go on record here by saying that this album's amazing. And I'm sure we'll talk about the band we're playing today. You turn me on to this. This one is amazing. Yeah, the band that I really want to mention that should have been on my best of list for 2014, I did not hear them until the first week of January. The band is called Painted Wives.

00:19:47.340 --> 00:20:17.300
The Albums Called Obsessed With The End. As a matter of fact, they're the band that we're going to be playing for you today. Earlier, I mentioned that there was a band that had sort of influenced my theme for the year. Painted Wives, in fact, is that band. We're going to talk about Painted Wives a little more later, but after I listened to them, that sort of set the theme for what I kind of wanted to hear this year, as I mentioned earlier. It's been kind of a one, two, three punch. One, two, three knockout, because

00:20:17.340 --> 00:20:47.180
Then we also got the Vizzy Goth. Yes. So, you know, I guess I will go ahead and talk about Painted Wives a little more. Painted Wives, I, or as I like to think of them as Mastodon in Chains, they're, I don't even know if they're technically consider themselves a metal band. They have really heavy, thunderous riffs and sort of jam songs like Mastodon. Exactly. And yet some of the vocals, they have the,

00:20:47.340 --> 00:21:17.300
like harmonized Alice in Chains style singing that's just like Shores of Null does the same thing as a band that was on the list last year and it's just an amazing combination the songs are catchy the riffs are thunderous it's I was in the car driving home from the gym one morning it came on liquid metal I pulled over I was like what is this you don't have those moments much anymore no and so it really and I it broke my heart that

00:21:17.340 --> 00:21:47.300
this came out in 2014. I was like, no! You should be on the list! You could have knocked off a pirate metal song! Yeah, somewhere... The guys are still laughing about that. Somewhere Godless is chuckling and going, damn that pirate metal! Damn that George and the fucking strange things that go on in his head! But, uh... So anyway, that sort of flavored my taste

00:21:47.340 --> 00:21:52.740
for the beginning of the year and then of course like you mentioned the visigoth album the

00:21:52.860 --> 00:21:59.020
revenant king slagle had just remember he put the little he planted the seed planted the seed when we

00:21:59.340 --> 00:22:04.720
interviewed him yeah this is coming out and it's gonna be good and so i remembered that and they had a

00:22:05.090 --> 00:22:11.259
single out at the time dungeon master and i was like oh this is good and i got the promo for the

00:22:11.280 --> 00:22:40.800
The Revenant King about a week or two ago. The album just came out this past week. It's fucking brilliant. It's old school, sort of like heavy metal pre-thrash. It's got the kind of high singing and fast music, but it's not thrash. It's not as rough as thrash. I've played with another band doing a similar thing. Almost like a portrait. Kind of. Kind of. Yeah.

00:22:41.280 --> 00:23:11.220
Kind of in the same vein. And or like early white wizard. And so, okay, well that perpetuated the more older style of metal than, you know, the sludge metals and the black metals and the death metals that I've been listening to. And then I came across, because I was interested in that, I started trying to look for other bands and you know, it's hard to find bands like this because it's a lot easier to say, find me some black metal. Black metal is a specific thing. Find me some death metal. Death metal is a specific thing.

00:23:11.480 --> 00:23:40.960
thing. This really gets categorized as heavy metal. It doesn't really have that I know, other than retro metal. But then you get stuff like Ghost, and it's not quite the same thing. And so it's really hard to search for more music in this style. At least it is for me. I haven't been able to find a reliable way of looking at more bands. Maybe like modern new new wave of British heavy metal. Then you get new wave of American heavy metal, and you've got Suck Switch, Engage,

00:23:41.780 --> 00:24:11.140
Are you trying to hurt me today? Stuff like that. But I did remember a band that I'd gotten a promo for last year. This is also from last year, unfortunately. A band from, I believe it's Sweden. I could be wrong. They are. Called The Dagger. And their self-titled album. And that was really like retro 70s kind of hard rock slash metal. Like you said, very deep purple. There's some keyboards in there. I was like,

00:24:11.280 --> 00:24:41.040
Oh, you're right. It is very deep purple. So I'm really digging that. So that could be what 2015 is musically for George. I think that I'm definitely headed down that road of like, these are the things I'm going to be seeking out this year. You know, us being vinyl guys now, I think this stuff personally sounds best on vinyl. Oh, it does. More so than just the noise of, you know, a black metal or death metal on vinyl. Not saying it sounds bad, but the older sound, I think, translates nicely to vinyl. Yeah.

00:24:41.400 --> 00:25:11.200
I'm not going to be listening to this exclusively. When we get to the new releases, there's a couple albums in completely different styles. That's no Trypticon, though. No. And that's the thing. Painted Wives. Did Painted Wives have the same excitement that Trypticon generated for you when you heard it? Yes, it did. Wow. So, yes, Painted Wives did give me the same excitement as last year's number one album. Let me remind, if the listeners don't know, if I haven't said this yet, George, upon hearing Trypticon, this time,

00:25:11.280 --> 00:25:15.760
last year said it was his album of the year yeah it said it's gonna be hard to top this

00:25:16.180 --> 00:25:23.200
yeah i mean i didn't say it couldn't be top yeah but i was said this is the album to beat and if if painted

00:25:23.400 --> 00:25:28.880
wives had come out in january i would say this is the album to beat but would trypticon it beat i'll give me a break

00:25:30.140 --> 00:25:36.600
i don't know i'd have to think that one long and hard i'd have that okay i had to ask that that shows how much you like

00:25:36.720 --> 00:25:41.240
see that goes back to the apples and oranges thing of trypticon and painted wives are completely

00:25:41.240 --> 00:26:11.140
different things. Completely different. Completely different. And so, while I really love the one, and I really love the other, it would be more of a, well, it's top in this category, and this is top in this category. Yeah. And like I said, Painted Wives is a little more, it has an older feel, but it also feels kind of current. Something like The Dagger, that I think is really cool, is just way too retro old school to make a number one album of the year or something, because it's just not original.

00:26:11.260 --> 00:26:41.220
enough. Is it cool? Yes. Do I love it? Yes. Is it original enough to be a number one album? No. Anyway, we'll talk more about some of the other styles of albums that I'm really digging on when we get to the new releases. There's some strong new releases this week. Yeah, it's like first couple weeks of January, not much, and then all of a sudden, boom, tons of stuff. So, we'll get to that. So, we sort of have a last-minute plans for the evening today. We're actually making a day out of this. A date. A date. It's date day for George and Puke. It's just a little after

00:26:41.720 --> 00:27:11.060
We are recording now. After we record, we're going to head out to Baltimore. There's a record store, a heavy metal themed record store that we have yet to go to. And today is their last day in business in Baltimore. They're moving to the West Coast. It's called Black Mess Records. We're going to try and slide in there and see if the start. From what we've heard, it's really obscure black metal. Yeah, it boggles my mind that there's like a whole store full of stuff that I haven't heard of. I'm like,

00:27:11.240 --> 00:27:37.980
Really? There's gotta be. Who's buying their stuff? I don't know. I would say enough to facilitate a storefront. Yeah. There's gotta be more stuff in there that we do know, and it's just the stuff that they put up on Facebook is just really obscure. But we're gonna go there. We're gonna try and head over to Soundgarden, another place that has a really nice metal section. Check out those records. Grab some deer. Some deer. Some deer and some binner. Sounds like we've already started.

00:27:41.260 --> 00:28:11.120
over to the Baltimore Soundstage for the Napalm Death Voivod Exhumed Ringworm and Black Crown Initiate Show. I remember when this was announced months ago. I was like, oh, I should go to that. I was like, oh, Bukle never want to go to that. And so I promptly forgot about it. And then I saw something on Facebook. I think it was a Voivod post about something about like, hey, Voivod's going to be in Baltimore. And I was like, oh.

00:28:11.240 --> 00:28:41.220
I should look that up when is that oh it's Saturday it's two days from now I was like dude look at this lineup it's killer we got to go lo and behold he agreed with me black because you know a day with you is fun but black crown initiate is what that really was was it was the defining the sealing the deal factor I mean I'm a huge Voivod fan and so I would have gone for that but black crown initiate being there that seals the deal I'm like oh we got to see them yeah napalm death to me has always been extremely hard to call me a pussy they have been they have been extremely

00:28:41.240 --> 00:29:11.100
It's extremely hard for me to get into. I'm really digging their new album. I listened to it. It's actually really some killer hooks in it. Yeah. And, uh, you know, I, I sort of made a playlist, you know how I do of, of the songs that a mix of songs that have been on the last few nights set lists. And even though some of the older stuff, I'm like, yeah, not bad. You know, I musically, I've always thought they were pretty cool and anything.

00:29:11.260 --> 00:29:41.220
I hear from them. The music is usually pretty cool. The vocals tend to be, I mean, there's no way you're going to understand them without a lyric sheet. It's just not going to happen. But you think there's people out there who say, oh, I know what he's saying. Well, I mean, if you study the lyric sheet enough, you'll, I'm sure, put them to memory and it'll make, you know, if you know what he's saying, then you can make it out because you know what he's saying. But I haven't been the kind of person that pours over the lyric sheet and memorizes things since

00:29:41.260 --> 00:29:42.400
about 1988.

00:29:44.100 --> 00:29:44.460
So,

00:29:45.370 --> 00:29:45.460
um,

00:29:45.920 --> 00:29:46.160
but you know,

00:29:46.320 --> 00:29:46.820
I'm cool with that.

00:29:46.820 --> 00:29:47.600
The music's still good.

00:29:48.040 --> 00:29:49.540
So I think it'll be an interesting show.

00:29:50.080 --> 00:29:50.940
I'm gonna bring my camera,

00:29:51.460 --> 00:29:52.240
hopefully get it in,

00:29:52.660 --> 00:29:53.380
get some shots.

00:29:53.850 --> 00:29:55.720
I was thinking maybe I'd bring the little portable,

00:29:55.990 --> 00:29:56.080
uh,

00:29:56.600 --> 00:29:58.300
iPhone mic and we could maybe do a little,

00:29:58.430 --> 00:29:58.520
uh,

00:29:58.740 --> 00:29:59.180
post game.

00:29:59.560 --> 00:29:59.740
Yep.

00:30:00.080 --> 00:30:00.260
Uh,

00:30:00.580 --> 00:30:00.660
yep.

00:30:00.730 --> 00:30:00.860
Yep.

00:30:00.950 --> 00:30:01.040
Yep.

00:30:01.120 --> 00:30:03.300
Like we did for the last couple of things we did.

00:30:03.660 --> 00:30:04.820
So if we do that,

00:30:05.100 --> 00:30:06.460
I'll tack that onto the end of the episode.

00:30:06.940 --> 00:30:07.360
If not,

00:30:07.740 --> 00:30:07.860
well,

00:30:08.060 --> 00:30:08.680
you should have been there.

00:30:09.240 --> 00:30:39.100
So, as he tends to do before each new podcast, Buke took to Twitter and asked for anybody who had some things they wanted us to talk about. And as usual, Mr. Reliable, Will, came back with some things for us to talk about. He always has great ideas. He really should be more involved in the show. Yeah, I told you, Third Mike. That's him. Yep. Who, again, if you want to follow, if you want to check out our friend Will, he is brewing now for Fair Wind.

00:31:07.340 --> 00:31:07.920
BrewMetalWill.

00:31:09.240 --> 00:31:39.200
some topics that he would like to hear us discuss and I sort of altered one of them okay the first one was said favorite bands that you never saw live yeah I got him it was a hard use this was actually hard for me to do at first because all the big names that instantly jump out at me yeah well so what I did was I took this he just said your favorite bands that you haven't seen live I turned that into our top three for this week so we're gonna we're gonna end up talking about that a little bit later another thing that he asked about was

00:31:39.240 --> 00:32:09.180
was our most anticipated albums for 2015. Do you have anything for that? Of course, I got a couple. Okay. Anthrax, for me, was a band that I respected over the years, could never really jump headfirst into it, really become a huge fan of them, till their last album came out. Yeah. Drawing a blank on the fucking name of it right now. Worship music. Yeah, worship music. But it's talked about that they're going to have a new album this year. I forgot about that. Yeah, I forgot.

00:32:09.240 --> 00:32:39.140
So hopefully that'll be out this year. If it's a follow-up to anything like Worship Music, which excited both of us. Oh, yeah. The album was amazing. And you know it's because Joey was back. Yes, exactly. Exactly. So if it's anything like Worship Music, I'm behind them. I'm looking forward to that. Yeah. Number two, we saw them on tour with these guys. It's also rumored that Testament will have their follow-up to Dark Roots of the Earth coming out this year. So that also has me excited.

00:32:39.340 --> 00:32:42.840
to me.

00:32:43.560 --> 00:32:45.160
Album should be out this year.

00:32:46.120 --> 00:32:49.400
As well as the new Slayer album.

00:32:50.200 --> 00:32:50.800
Yeah.

00:32:51.780 --> 00:32:56.040
I'm excited to see what the new Slayer.

00:32:56.500 --> 00:32:57.060
Slexidis.

00:32:58.240 --> 00:33:00.900
I like your word combination today.

00:33:01.420 --> 00:33:03.400
I'm excited to see what they can do.

00:33:03.940 --> 00:33:04.160
Yeah.

00:33:05.000 --> 00:33:08.559
I've been kind of down on the whole Slayer continuing

00:33:08.560 --> 00:33:38.520
since the death of Jeff Hanneman. Just because, personally, he was the soul of the band. Gary King is a master in his own right. He does great stuff, but I liked Jeff Hanneman's stuff better. Now, I love Gary Holt. I love Exodus. So, this could be a good thing. I'm reserving judgment until I hear the new album. If it sucks, I'm going to be, I told you so. But if it's good, I will eat my words and be like, alright, this is a great album. Because, you know, ultimately I'm a Slayer fan. So, we'll see.

00:33:38.560 --> 00:34:08.300
Two more. I don't want to steal your possible thunder here, but you and I were big, big, big fans of, God, what was it, 2008 now? 2009? Death Magnetic? Oh, yeah. I thought about putting Metallica on that list. They have gone back into the studio. But they did say that it'll probably be 2016. I know, but I'm just saying, if it could squeak out maybe a November release. Yeah, I'm all looking forward to that. I know, God,

00:34:08.580 --> 00:34:38.540
is already fucking turned off the show here and that and so are some other people but i thought death magnetic was an amazing album sure it was great and if if they follow up just like with anthrax and worship music if they return with anything like their previous album yeah i hope it doesn't go the mega death route you know it's like there were a few albums not so good like the saint angers and the for metallica and risk for mega death and then mega death comes out with boom united abominations for me when risk is on my top three mega death album

00:34:38.580 --> 00:35:08.540
It is not. It was number three. It was? Yeah. Okay, you're out of here. I love Trust. I'm sorry. Will, could you come help me finish this podcast? But, you know, so there were some not-so-good Megadeth albums, and then United Abominations came out and fucking killed it, okay? But then everything from that was a slow decline back down into mediocrity. Death Magnetic, is that their United Abominations? Was that like, boom, this awesome, like, return to their older style, and now

00:35:08.580 --> 00:35:38.540
How They Feel Good About Themselves And They're Gonna Just Kind Of Slowly Go Down Hill Again Or Is It Gonna Be Another Strong Album I Don't Know But We're Probably Gonna Have To Wait Till Next Year To Find Out Two More I Just Thought Of One Okay I'm Saving Up Our Best One For Last But Two More So Far You Haven't Hit Any On My List So That's Awesome This One I Have Some Reservations About I Have Been On These Guys Bandwagon Since They First Came Out All Shall Perish Okay Their Singer Eddie As You Know Is Now The Lead Singer For Suicide Silence They've Had A Lot

00:35:38.580 --> 00:36:08.520
the lineup changes over the years. Also, Parrish was talking about that they were going to possibly break up after members left and stuff like that. But Nuclear Blast, the label, if I'm correct. I think so. Just put them on a couple promotional posters for releases to come out for 2015. Now, we still don't know who the singer is, right? It could technically be Eddie. It could. Or it could be somebody else. Yep, it could. So I'm excited for that because they're,

00:36:08.580 --> 00:36:38.540
Awaken the Dreamers album from a couple years back is still one of my favorite metal albums of all time on my list. Really? Even better than like things from the 70s and the 80s? And number one for us, and I have, they were quiet. Everything I tried to find online from other sites, they were quiet. But I went at them on Twitter directly, Ahab. Yeah? Is it? They said, this is going back

00:36:38.580 --> 00:37:08.280
Now, 105 days ago. A couple months now. Just over three months. They said, probably nine to 12 months away. One song's almost ready. Three are partly done. Lyrics are written. So, end of this year, early next year. Yeah, that was one that I almost put on my list because I was hoping there was going to be an album in 2014 and there wasn't. Yeah, and you and I loved the giant for the funeral do me. Oh, yeah. That album's so awesome.

00:37:09.060 --> 00:37:35.960
And that's what turned me to getting into Doom. But Ahab, if the album makes it out this year, that's what I'm excited for the most. Cool. Well, I had usually the magazines put out probably towards the end of the year lists of albums that are expected to come out or slated to come out, usually in Decibel or Revolver or even Metal Hammer Terrorizer or any of those. I read them all, so I can't always remember which one.

00:37:36.800 --> 00:38:06.780
I'm just going to slide over and answer that other question. Favorite magazine, metal magazine, metal hammer. I don't read any of them. Yeah. And so usually I sort of have an idea of what's coming out this year. I have not read that list of any kind yet. So it's really, I mean, like most of the years we're like, oh yeah, okay. You know, this is kind of new to me. I did do a little research and you actually hit on all the like major things that are like, oh yeah, it would be really awesome if it comes out this year. There were two or three of them though, that you

00:38:07.400 --> 00:38:10.820
I just got the promo for one of them the new enslaved albums coming out

00:38:11.780 --> 00:38:20.040
March I think we'll see how that is I'm really curious you know I sometimes the vocals when

00:38:20.040 --> 00:38:24.160
they're a little too proggy even though they tend to still have like harsh vocals and stuff

00:38:24.840 --> 00:38:27.180
sometimes they get a little too proggy we'll see where they are with this album

00:38:28.160 --> 00:38:33.740
psychoptic has a new album coming out I really dug their last album so I'm kind of curious to see

00:38:33.760 --> 00:39:01.880
what that's going to sound like. The band you asked me about yesterday, Barren Earth, they're going to be having a new album coming out. Yes. Yes. And I really liked their last couple albums. So, you know. In March. There's another band, the Reformed Sorcerer. If you recall, they put out a collection last year, year before, or maybe even younger. It seems fairly recent to me, but they, like, re-released some old songs. Apparently, they've signed with Metal Blade, I think, and they're going to put out a new album, Doom Metal. So, that should be interesting.

00:39:03.780 --> 00:39:33.660
coming out. Always kind of on the fence about what Moonspell is going to sound like when they come out. But their last album was kind of heavier, had like harsh vocals and stuff. So more of a return to the old days. We'll see what that sounds like. Should be interesting. There's another Death Doom band that I haven't heard anything about in years called Minsk. They've got an album coming out. No idea what that's going to sound like. I think it's going to be on relapse. Paradise Lost. That's probably one of my bigger, you know, anticipated albums of the year. They're going to have a new album out in June.

00:39:33.760 --> 00:40:03.720
In the Plague Within in June. And finally, one that really surprised me that I saw was coming out in the next couple of months is a new album from the band Doddheim's Guard. Haven't heard anything from them in seven, eight years. So really interested to find out what that's going to sound like. Surprised you didn't mention one that slipped away. Have you tapped out on Cradle of Filth? Well, I did actually just get Dusk and Her Embrace and Cruelty in the Beast

00:40:03.760 --> 00:40:33.340
on vinyl, but those are, of course, older albums. Because they have announced Hammer of the Witches as their title for their album coming out this year. Well, I will probably be checking that out, too. What was the last album you were excited for them that you really got behind? Damnation in a Day. That was 03. Okay. And they've released four albums since. Yeah. Moving on. Do you think they're still relevant anymore? I don't know.

00:40:33.740 --> 00:41:01.000
I feel like they've been treading water for the last while. Haven't really done anything new. They just sort of been rehashing the same old stuff. So they'd kind of, you know, I think it was damnation in a day actually that, and I've mentioned this before, Danny did some clean vocals. Everybody shit all over him for it. I thought that was a good evolution for the band. It brought a different element to their sound. He got shit on. He never did it again to my knowledge.

00:41:03.760 --> 00:41:06.980
on a Cradle of Filth album mixed in with his piercing screeches.

00:41:07.120 --> 00:41:13.280
Because, you know, I mean, I like the way he sings, but dynamically we need something new in the soup, you know?

00:41:13.420 --> 00:41:15.300
Have you checked out his side project, Devil Mint?

00:41:15.720 --> 00:41:16.120
I did.

00:41:16.460 --> 00:41:17.420
It wasn't...

00:41:18.020 --> 00:41:19.120
People have been shitting all over that.

00:41:19.360 --> 00:41:19.480
Yeah.

00:41:19.500 --> 00:41:20.740
They've shit all over everything he does.

00:41:20.820 --> 00:41:21.380
I don't know why.

00:41:21.380 --> 00:41:22.700
I think he's a pretty brilliant guy.

00:41:23.180 --> 00:41:25.020
But I kind of understand...

00:41:25.020 --> 00:41:26.540
I mean, it wasn't as good as Cradle of Filth.

00:41:26.780 --> 00:41:27.440
It was interesting.

00:41:28.180 --> 00:41:32.700
I didn't get through the whole album, but the songs that I listened to, I was behind it.

00:41:33.040 --> 00:42:02.740
Do you think Krayla Filth with their stage show and everything they do? Are they kind of, this is a stretch, but what comes to mind from the crowds that I've seen at the festivals where I've seen them and stuff and wearing their shirts, are they kind of like a more, have they kind of evolved into a more obscure, because their stage show and everything, heavier, follow me here, Slipknot kind of? You know what I'm saying? Kind of, I don't know. I mean, I wouldn't. The accessible, heavier, darker themed stuff, because they,

00:42:03.060 --> 00:42:33.020
I say, you know, air quotes, the kids. I see all the mall rat kids wearing cradle of fill shirts and stuff like that. Yeah, I don't see anything. I used to see it all the time. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, yeah, they probably had some sort of hot topic factor going on for a little bit. That's it right there. But I don't know anymore. Okay. I don't hardly hear much about them at all anymore. You don't. Except for albums coming out. So I think, you know, in terms of being the Slipknot type band, I think their time may

00:42:33.060 --> 00:43:03.020
I've passed. Yep. Before we move on, Will also asked about our favorite beer and style. I'm going to go ahead and answer for Buick. Stout is his favorite style. Yeah, 100%. Thank you. And your favorite beer? Mission. They're Dark Seas heavy. Sorry. Mission. They're Dark Seas. It's their Russian Imperial Stout. Okay. I actually had to ask my wife about this one. I was like, I listen to so many, listen, I drink so many different kinds of beer. I mean, I'm always trying different

00:43:03.080 --> 00:43:33.020
craft beers. And so I'm like, what's my favorite beer? Style is a lot easier. I couldn't tell you. My favorite style is probably going to be an IPA. That I knew. But favorite beer, I really had to think about it. Because I have different beers for different things. Hot summer day, working out in the yard, come back in for a beer, give me a Heineken. Give him a line in Kugel, summer Shandy. No. No, I'm with Jeff Hanneman on the

00:43:33.060 --> 00:44:02.780
Heineken. That's the kind of beer that I'll just drink all day. Okay? Because it's not filling. You know, good beers are filling. You drink one or two of those. You're full. You know? You can't. It's a different kind of beer. But in terms of, like, my favorite beer, like, that I probably go back to the most, Stone's Ruination. Love that fucking beer. Bile in a bottle, man. That stuff is so fucking bitter. Never had it. Really? Yeah. Because, you know, me and IPAs, I'll drink them because I'll drink anything. I love beer.

00:44:03.060 --> 00:44:32.920
Yeah, as I just told you yesterday, the keg just ran out. I had a lesion bifrost in there. I need to go and figure out what's next. I wonder if you could get ruination in a six barrel. Probably a total wine. Yeah, maybe Will can let us know. Does it even come in that? Yeah. Oh, I got to tell you my total wine story. So I live in Maryland and I work for a company in Virginia. Usually I work from here, but every once in a while I have to go into the office down in Fairfax. And so Thursday, I,

00:44:33.060 --> 00:45:03.020
I busted out the GPS and I'm and the GPS must have smoked a big fat bowl of crack this morning because it did not know what it was doing normally I've been here before and it's taken me there just fine turn left on Vegas trip what yeah well it was telling me things like I'm in the middle of a four-lane highway and it's like make a u-turn well first is there a problem with that first it said take a left I'm like what left I'm on the highway and then when I didn't take the left it told me to make a u-turn I'm like

00:45:03.060 --> 00:45:33.020
I'm on a four-lane highway how can I make a u-turn anyway it took me a very roundabout way and I ended up in Chantilly on 50 mm-hmm and I had a phone call I had to make like a you know a conference call I had to get called into and since I was still on the road I pulled into the next shopping center to park and make my phone call where do you think I was the one with the total wine right there in Fairfax total wine Fairfax that's like shut up I just sent you the picture I know

00:45:33.060 --> 00:46:02.640
And I was like, I just randomly pulled into it. And I need to go back because I got to find. Did you go inside? No, I had to get to work. And I wanted to. And I told my wife and she's like, we should swing by there after work. But then it was sleeting and freezing rain and stuff when I left. And it took me almost three hours to get home as it was. So that didn't happen. But we're going to have to go back. You were right there. You and I have been there before. No, we haven't. Yes, we have. We went there after. Yeah, we did. We did. After Vienna Music Exchange. We did. That's right.

00:46:02.740 --> 00:46:32.580
So I've been there. I've seen it. The one in McLean is huge. Yeah. I need to get a new keg of something. Because we are parched. Alright, yeah. You want to talk about that Slipknot thing? Yeah. I had a friend message me. He actually woke me up earlier this week saying, Buke, I won us tickets. What are you talking about? He said, Buke, I won us tickets for Slipknot and Lamb of God on tour with Bullet for My Valentine. They're pit tickets. And talentless.

00:46:32.720 --> 00:47:02.620
I mean motionless and white. So it was announced earlier this week that Slipknot and Lamb of God are on tour. Playing huge outdoor pavilions. I'd almost want to see that. Almost. I want to see Lamb of God again. I would like to see Lamb of God. I'd like to see Slipknot. I liked their last album. That was one of the things I got shit for on Reddit for putting that on my list. Bullet for my lame, I mean Valentine and Talentless and White. I could fucking care less. Those bands.

00:47:02.740 --> 00:47:04.940
suck balls. They're horrible.

00:47:06.400 --> 00:47:09.040
And it's almost enough to make me not want to go to the show.

00:47:09.600 --> 00:47:10.700
So I have pit tickets.

00:47:11.240 --> 00:47:13.220
My friend, apparently, says, Buk, you're coming with me.

00:47:13.400 --> 00:47:14.500
Hey, free. I'd take free.

00:47:14.500 --> 00:47:14.600
Yeah.

00:47:15.060 --> 00:47:17.160
So I say you buy a pit ticket and you join me.

00:47:17.720 --> 00:47:21.060
And we can load up on Rotten Fruit and throw it at the stupid bands.

00:47:22.119 --> 00:47:26.580
We can sit there and, you know, catch Slam a guy at anything.

00:47:26.980 --> 00:47:27.760
Where are they playing?

00:47:28.520 --> 00:47:28.780
Nissan.

00:47:29.680 --> 00:47:29.940
Nissan.

00:47:30.200 --> 00:47:32.460
You mean Jiffy Lube or whatever it is now?

00:47:37.200 --> 00:47:39.220
So I was driving in the car the other day

00:47:39.440 --> 00:47:40.720
and this song comes on the radio

00:47:41.130 --> 00:47:43.300
and I was like, oh, that's an interesting song

00:47:43.620 --> 00:47:46.100
It's just like an old Thin Lizzy song that I don't know about

00:47:46.340 --> 00:47:49.440
So I pull up the XM radio screen

00:47:49.940 --> 00:47:52.460
and it's Blackstar Riders' new song, The Killer Instinct

00:47:52.600 --> 00:47:54.680
and I'm aware of Blackstar Riders

00:47:55.240 --> 00:47:58.760
and, you know, it's basically Thin Lizzy without Phil

00:47:59.380 --> 00:48:02.480
There's a new guy that, I'm sorry, I don't remember his name

00:48:02.500 --> 00:48:08.320
singing and damn if he does not sound like phil or not normally when people like say replace mitch

00:48:08.440 --> 00:48:14.980
lucker in suicide silence or other things like that i'm very down on it but the if this was a thin lizzie

00:48:15.160 --> 00:48:21.840
album i probably would be down on it ricky warwick yes yes thank you uh if this if they put this out as a

00:48:21.840 --> 00:48:26.680
thin lizzie album and this is actually i believe their second album is black star writers if they put it out as a thin

00:48:26.820 --> 00:48:31.320
lizzie album i would have been like bullshit because i mean you know he looks doesn't look i don't know what he

00:48:31.780 --> 00:49:00.280
It's just a cheap knockoff to, you know, screw the fans out of more money. But they did the classy thing by changing the name and still putting out music. Apparently, I'm getting soft in my old age because I'm okay with this. I like it. I got the promo from Nuclear Blast. And your trunk is really excited about this. Yeah, and I really dig the song. Another band that I've been kind of poo-pooing is Queen with Adam Lambert. You know, Freddie Mercury, one of the best singers all time, hands down.

00:49:00.939 --> 00:49:29.720
And the fact that Queen was doing this tour, and I think maybe even an album with Adam Lambert. Do they call themselves Queen with him? Yes, it's Queen with Adam Lambert, which I respect that. I do. I do, too. And I was just like, eh, you know, it's cool. It's like whatever. It's like a cover band kind of thing. Shouldn't Alice in Chains change her name then? Yes. I would have respected Alice in Chains better. I don't, you know, they sound like Alice in Chains. They are not Alice in Chains. You talk about people who sound,

00:49:30.340 --> 00:50:00.260
Like, him and Lane are... Yeah. Well, I mean, a lot of that has to do with Jerry's backup vocals. It's true. But regardless, that's why I'm not a big fan of Alice in Chains now, because it's just too close, too much. It's hauntingly close. Yes. But then, my wife watches American Idol. I say my wife, but yeah, technically I do too, because, you know, I'm there. And Adam Lambert did a guest episode where he was one of the judges. I have no clue. And what's her name? J-Lo.

00:50:00.340 --> 00:50:30.300
and Harry Connick Jr. talked him into getting up and redoing his audition because that's where he's an American Idol winner and so he got up and like acapella did Bohemian Rhapsody convinced me won me over really I was like holy shit it's the ghost of Freddie Mercury are you serious I'm serious I was like oh check this out so now I'm like okay I would go see them before I would have been like nah I'm not here to see the second-rate queen but dude sounded

00:50:30.400 --> 00:51:00.300
So I would definitely go see them if they come around Wow that's saying a lot yeah and black star writers you should check that out too cuz a band here in the States I think has never gotten a lot of credit thin thin Lizzy oh yeah it's highly underrated they got like two songs that everybody knows you know jailbreak and boys are back in town that's it but even if that's all you know and like check out black star writers it's some good stuff and that's another thing that goes back into that old retro thing that I'm my theme of this year

00:51:00.340 --> 00:51:30.040
All I'm hearing is good retro stuff. All right. Now we're going to get into some news after the first hour. Did you see this thing about The Legend of Dio, a metal musical premiering in March in Australia? I did not. Apparently it's a fictional comedy based on Dio's music, lyrics, and imagery. Should be interesting if you're in Australia. If it was using them, is it using the music of Dio? Or is Dio's lyrical themes?

00:51:30.340 --> 00:52:00.200
It says music, lyrics, and imagery, so I would assume. Okay, I'm fully on board. If they can make it, like, funny and, because Dio's videos are a little cheesy. Oh, a little, yeah. Remember Rainbow in the Dark? He's up on, like, rooftops and stuff. Yes, but that was, like, 83, so. I know it is. I love them, but if they can incorporate, you know, this, anything to keep Dio's music going, I'm fully behind it. Yeah. That's the next item I already talked about, Paradise.

00:52:00.340 --> 00:52:29.260
Lost releasing The Plague Within in June. We'll just skip over that. Amana Marth has begun working on new material for a release that is possibly early next year. So we probably won't see that this year, but at least they're working on it. Voivit, the band we're seeing tonight, have released a new song called We Are Connected on a split 7-inch with At The Gates. I just listened to the song today to be familiar with it, because apparently it is something that they've been playing at the shows. It's pretty cool sounding.

00:52:29.320 --> 00:52:59.300
The Ongoing Megadeth Saga. Nick Menza. Is he going to join the band? Is Marty Friedman coming back? Nick has continued to fuel speculation about a Rust in Peace reunion. Nobody seems to know anything yet, but I think that would be really cool. Could definitely revitalize the band once again. Did you see the news that broke late this week from Dave that he spoke out saying that fans don't want Chris Broderick and Sean Drover

00:52:59.320 --> 00:53:07.160
and that that's why they left that's what he was saying well dave says a lot of stupid

00:53:07.360 --> 00:53:14.840
shit that he spoke this is from loudwire uh mustane spoke in depth depth about what the fans

00:53:15.420 --> 00:53:20.860
of the band are looking for how certain lineups have and have not been embraced stating that

00:53:21.710 --> 00:53:25.960
really from rust and peace forward the fans have not always fully accepted the new players

00:53:27.360 --> 00:53:55.860
Well, yeah, it's because we want Marty and Nick back. You think it's going to happen? I don't know. I mean, you know, Marty Friedman has been in the news a lot lately, and it's one of those, me thinks he doth protest too much. So the more he says he doesn't like metal anymore, the more likely I think it is he's going to be on that new Megadeth album. But if they come back, can they save Megadeth? Frankly, I think a lot of the good songwriting,

00:53:56.080 --> 00:54:00.500
I don't know unless uh unless heroin was what made Dave write good music

00:54:01.100 --> 00:54:25.940
I think Marty Friedman's influence had a lot to do with what made good Megadeth songs not that he hasn't made good Megadeth songs without Marty yeah but Marty and for all I know Marty just came in and said weedly deedly over the stuff I don't know but but but something changed yeah I mean the best songs Marty was on him so if him coming back means

00:54:25.940 --> 00:54:54.260
that things might be good again. I could see that happening, and I'd love to hear it. And I think it would be such an event that it would be a big deal. How big of a news story? You think this would be a huge story? I think it would be a huge story, and I think it would get the band a lot of press, and assuming they can come up with some good songs, it could put them back on top again. Okay. Percent that this happens, that you believe it will happen. 50-50. Really? Yeah. I mean, I don't want to go too far over the line because, you know, so much of the stuff on the internet is bullshit.

00:54:55.940 --> 00:55:25.200
The story just doesn't seem to want to die. It doesn't. So usually that means something's going on. And no way seems to be really out of either camp coming out staunchly against it. Nobody's denying it. Yeah, exactly. Nobody's saying no, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah. So we'll see. So apparently 70,000 tons of metal just happened. I guess the Metal Sox guys were there. We got to find out how to get on there. I was talking to my wife about that. I was like, man, I'm really jealous those guys are going to that.

00:55:25.980 --> 00:55:32.180
Sucks pays for them to go or if they get comp tickets because of their affiliation.

00:55:33.320 --> 00:55:38.320
Because I was looking at tickets going, man, we need to go, but that shit's fucking expensive.

00:55:39.780 --> 00:55:44.900
I would love to cover that, but we're nobody, so nobody's going to comp us any tickets.

00:55:46.010 --> 00:55:51.140
We certainly can't afford a couple thousand dollars for tickets and rooms and such.

00:55:51.720 --> 00:55:52.340
Not with the baby.

00:55:53.220 --> 00:56:23.160
But anyway, I did see one news item that kind of interested me about the 70,000 tons of metal, and that was that Coburn Farr. From Omen? No. Wait. Yeah. You just blew my mind. That's not the guy that I was thinking of. You just changed the whole story. I was like, wait a minute. You're absolutely right. He's from Omen. I'm thinking Randy Rampage or somebody, aren't I? The guy that sang on Alice in the Hell. Who was that? Randy Rampage? Let's look at that.

00:56:23.220 --> 00:56:52.540
Look that shit up. It said that that's right. No, he was. Coben Farr was a replacement singer in Annihilator. I'm so. I thought he may have been a replacement singer. Yes, he was. Ah, but he was from Omen, no. Yeah, well, he wasn't the original Omen singer. No. But yeah, he was on Escape to Nowhere, the like third Omen album. That's. Wow. Okay. So it just happened here live. I fucked up. Wow. And Buke. Buke for the win.

00:56:53.400 --> 00:57:22.720
I was all going to be like, dude, that's so awesome that he joined Annihilator again for a show on 70,000 tons of metal. And well, it's still awesome, but not as awesome if it had been Randy Rampage, the actual Alice in Hell singer, because I fucking, it's like the only Annihilator album that I really like. Never Neverland, man. No, man, I fucking love Annihilator. Never Neverland, Alice in Hell. I should probably edit this whole thing out so nobody knows. This is major, I just, I saw your mind.

00:57:22.880 --> 00:57:52.800
You fucking owned me. I did. I fucking saw your mind blow up right in front of me. I paused and my eyes went wide and the recognition of he's right. Omen. Ah, well, see, you can't say I don't ever give you credit. It won't happen again for another couple of years. All right, let's talk about some new releases. Since we've been gone for a little while, the first album is one that came out a couple of weeks ago.

00:57:52.860 --> 00:58:22.360
but I have to mention it. Jeff Waters. Is he the singer? No, he's the guitar player. I'm sorry. Randy Rampage. Yeah. I told you I got that right. Somehow it clicked in my head wrong and I was like, duh. All right. Anyway, so a couple weeks ago the new album from Cilosis came out, Dormant Heart. That's what I teased earlier. That is a brilliant album. Amazing. Yeah. Love those guys. Been playing the heck out of that album. I just tried. Just a metal. I don't know what they're going to put them in. Just a metal group.

00:58:22.860 --> 00:58:52.100
I don't know what genre really put in there. Well, I mean, it's yeah, I don't know. I mean, the vocals are kind of harsh, so but it's not really death metal. It's kind of like Lamb of God. You say Lamb of God's a metal group. It's not American metal group. I don't know. But whatever it is, whatever it is, it's good. That's my front runner I was mentioning earlier. Okay. Yeah, it's definitely going to be high up on the list this year. That's for sure. The next band, you were raving about them after I gave you the promo. I haven't the slightest fucking idea how to pronounce their name properly. Angela.

00:58:52.880 --> 00:58:56.240
Angelus. Yeah, it's got to be it. Angelus

00:58:57.800 --> 00:58:58.120
Apatrida?

00:58:59.620 --> 00:59:00.960
Something like that? Something like that.

00:59:01.500 --> 00:59:02.760
The album's called Hidden Evolution.

00:59:03.020 --> 00:59:04.920
Have you listened to this? I haven't listened to this one.

00:59:05.040 --> 00:59:06.420
I've listened to some of their earlier albums.

00:59:06.880 --> 00:59:09.160
Picture like Death Angel.

00:59:10.260 --> 00:59:10.920
Yeah, it's like Thrashy.

00:59:11.100 --> 00:59:12.800
Yes. Oh, man.

00:59:13.220 --> 00:59:13.260
Yeah.

00:59:13.540 --> 00:59:14.500
Where are we listening to this today?

00:59:14.640 --> 00:59:15.780
Because I know you haven't listened to it a lot.

00:59:17.360 --> 00:59:18.980
Yeah, no. I knew it was going to be good,

00:59:19.040 --> 00:59:20.080
which is why I sent you the promo.

00:59:21.000 --> 00:59:50.320
This next album is one that's probably going to be on my list somewhere because it reminds me of like Trepticon Part 2. This is a band called Ascension and their album The Dead of the World. I've been listening to this a lot. This is one of the few things that isn't retro that I've been playing a lot these last couple of weeks and this is pretty awesome. So if you like the it's like it's heavy it's kind of black metal but it's kind of

00:59:50.360 --> 01:00:20.320
It's just thick and sludgy and evil. So check out Ascension. This next one, I'm going to talk about it, but I can't get behind it. It's 50% cool, 50% bullshit. This is The Body and Thou and their album, You Whom I Have Always Hated. Technically, that album title could reflect my thoughts on the band The Body. I'm a fan of Thou. Their last album, Heathen, which came out last year, was well placed on my list for

01:00:20.360 --> 01:00:50.200
last year. The Body, however, they really just kind of make noise. They don't really make like cohesive songs. It's just a lot of like, not quite industrial, I would say, but industrial-ish noise that there's no real point to it. And they've, this is like second or third time that they've done a split album. It's not a split per se. The two bands are actually working together on songs. And so there's good elements about it. The Vow part of it is kind of cool.

01:00:50.360 --> 01:01:20.180
But on the whole, the body just destroys these songs. And I tried listening to it. I fucking hate it. So I'm sorry. Give me a new Thou album, but leave out the body. This next album, I gave you the promo for this. I don't know if you listened to it or not. Not yet. It's called Diablo Boulevard. B-L-V-D. And their album, Follow the Deadlights. If I recall, they're a Scandinavian band. It's kind of commercial sounding. It's heavy. The singer apparently is a comedian, like a well-known comedian.

01:01:20.360 --> 01:01:49.720
in his country. But he's got a good voice. And that's why I sent you this promo. They're on Nuclear Blast. I kind of dig it. You know, it's lighter. I mean, it's heavy, kind of maybe almost gothic, chunky, chunky, kind of, I don't know. But check it out. Next up, we've got Lord Dying and their new album, Poison Altars. You listened to this one? I did. I did. Sludgy, you know, like high on fire style type of stuff. Did you see the video they released? I did not.

01:01:49.760 --> 01:02:17.440
They released a video for Poisoned Otters. And it's a video where it's them in an all-out battle against yuppies. Yep. I don't have to say that. So it's them just taking out yuppies. Nice. And Red Fang makes an appearance in the video also. Really? Interesting. Yeah, I got their last album on vinyl. They're pretty cool.

01:02:19.780 --> 01:02:49.720
Night, Napalm Death and their new album Apex Predator Easy Meat. As we already mentioned, we've both listened to this album and, you know, it's Napalm Death isn't our favorite band, but this is a pretty damn good album. So check that out. Next up, we've got another one that Bukes been saying how much he likes. This is Night Demon and Curse of the Damned. I'm going to speak on that one a little bit. Okay. Yeah. Night Demon is, again, we talk about this retrograde

01:02:49.760 --> 01:03:19.720
that were on yeah but night demon right in it that's true that that definitely does fall into the same category they shine through like another priest or 70s priest type of sound with it yeah i notice a lot of the bands that play in this kind of style do sort of have a priest vibe about them yeah you know that's a good way to be great great stuff i i love it especially bands like night demon with this retro thing you know 70s it didn't have that perfect

01:03:21.660 --> 01:03:22.020
- Sure.

01:03:22.260 --> 01:03:24.240
It sounded like you're almost talking through,

01:03:24.960 --> 01:03:26.280
this is me not being a sound guy,

01:03:26.400 --> 01:03:27.120
but it almost sounded like you're,

01:03:27.859 --> 01:03:30.220
all the sounds coming through wax paper.

01:03:31.080 --> 01:03:31.860
You know what kind of,

01:03:32.060 --> 01:03:33.460
almost like you're talking through a filter.

01:03:33.860 --> 01:03:34.500
- A little bit, yeah.

01:03:34.570 --> 01:03:37.240
- It kind of adds like that natural noise,

01:03:37.680 --> 01:03:39.700
kind of scratchiness kind of with it.

01:03:39.860 --> 01:03:39.940
- Yeah.

01:03:40.040 --> 01:03:41.380
- I can't describe it well,

01:03:41.430 --> 01:03:42.660
'cause I'm not a fucking sound guy,

01:03:42.940 --> 01:03:44.220
but that's the type of sound that they,

01:03:44.880 --> 01:03:45.940
that is on this,

01:03:46.140 --> 01:03:49.340
that kind of adds to that retro sound that they have.

01:03:49.460 --> 01:04:19.300
So I like this album a lot. Cool. Check it out. Definitely. Next up, an album that I've been waiting for for years. Don Svanu's band Nightingale and their new album Retribution. I've had this demo for a while, so it feels weird to me that this is finally coming out. But, you know, it's definitely more commercially prog-rocky. But when you've got him involved with it, I don't care. Amazing. He could be doing commercial jingles and I'd be listening to that shit.

01:04:19.460 --> 01:04:49.320
He's just so awesome. If you took George and I's recommendation in your first experience, listening to him was Witherscape, you're not going to find the harsh vocals that you find in Witherscape with this. It's clean. Straight up clean vocals, but it's beautiful. His voice is just amazing. Probably one of the best in music today. That's the way I think, yeah. All right, next up is a Russian band called Shallow Rivers. I was surprised to see this on the list coming out this week.

01:04:49.440 --> 01:05:18.420
their second album, The Ledden Ghost. I actually discovered these guys completely on my own without knowing that this was coming out on Bandcamp about a week ago. I bought both of their albums. The Ledden Ghost is the latest one, and the one before that from 2013 is called Nile Euphoria. Both of these albums, you can get them on Bandcamp for $3.99. You can't beat that with a stick. I saw you just bought these earlier in the week. Yeah, check them out. They're really good.

01:05:18.480 --> 01:05:46.700
Yeah, it's Russian death doom. The music is just mind-blowing. I mean, there's a lot of clean passages and clean guitars and then just ferociously heavy music, and the vocals are very, you know, death, funeral doom kind of stuff. It's pretty good and actually impressed me a lot more than I thought it would.

01:05:46.940 --> 01:06:16.560
Next up on the list, we already talked about this band as well. Visigoth and the Revenant King. If you like any kind of old-school kind of heavy metal, you should definitely check these guys out. There's a couple of releases coming out this next week that I might as well talk about as well. First off, Blind Guardian, Beyond the Red Mirror is finally seen release. We talked about this. I'm still on the fence about this. We talked about this a couple episodes back. Still on the fence because Blind Guardian, the style they're at now,

01:06:19.500 --> 01:06:46.640
I like this better than their last couple of albums. So we'll see what happens. There's another power metal band called, I'm not sure I'm going to pronounce this right, Orden Ogin. Sounds right. And their new album, Raven Head. This is one of the power metal bands of recent years that a friend of mine turned me on to. Josh, how you doing? And I dig them. So I was checking this out and it's pretty good.

01:06:46.780 --> 01:07:16.720
Another band that is releasing this week, it's actually technically a re-release. This is Wolfheart and Winterborn. This is the band put together by the guy who used to be in Before the Dawn. He kind of changed styles on this album. Before it was sort of a melodic death metal, and now it's kind of black metal-ish, but like in a folksy, atmospheric kind of thing. Apparently it's getting re-released. Definitely worth checking that out. Alright, why don't we move ahead and get into our

01:07:16.760 --> 01:07:46.380
Band of the Week. As I mentioned earlier, this is Painted Wives. This is from their first album, Obsessed with the End. These guys are from Midway City, California. You can check them out on paintedwives.com. Like I said before, to me, it sounds kind of like a mashup of Mastodon meets Alice in Chains. There's also some Gojira in there. They're also influenced by bands like High on Fire, Queens of the Stone Age. So it's a pretty interesting sound.

01:07:46.760 --> 01:07:53.380
And I'm going to say you should check them out. And in fact, I'm going to play you a song now. This is the song Countless.

01:08:29.500 --> 01:08:45.799
The immortal betrayed the countless souls I wanted by.

01:08:49.840 --> 01:09:16.720
I am the pawn And you are the pawn The countless motions I won't invite I can't I won't invite

01:09:17.620 --> 01:09:21.460
I can't.

01:09:22.840 --> 01:09:27.259
If I want it by.

01:09:29.160 --> 01:09:30.480
Again.

01:09:31.400 --> 01:09:35.920
Don't count on me.

01:09:37.740 --> 01:09:41.400
Into the walls.

01:09:41.740 --> 01:09:52.779
Ruined by prey The countless oceans I won't invite

01:09:55.800 --> 01:10:01.140
Can the heart grow so cold?

01:10:03.100 --> 01:10:06.160
Tribute of pain

01:10:07.740 --> 01:10:12.440
Sounding horns, I can't survive

01:10:16.240 --> 01:10:23.160
The can't hold down on me

01:10:27.640 --> 01:10:33.040
When I'm gone, you will get me

01:10:39.980 --> 01:10:46.340
I want it by again.

01:10:51.100 --> 01:10:56.500
I want it by again.

01:11:08.820 --> 01:11:09.440
I can't wait for

01:11:40.120 --> 01:11:42.940
You have gone away

01:11:46.640 --> 01:11:48.280
Of our fate

01:11:51.220 --> 01:11:53.720
You have gone away

01:11:59.100 --> 01:12:02.900
It's not that I want to die

01:12:04.520 --> 01:12:06.940
It's more than I can

01:12:08.320 --> 01:12:12.920
To see you fade while I'm still behind

01:12:13.480 --> 01:12:17.480
It's more than I can stand

01:12:19.920 --> 01:12:22.880
And now that I say goodbye

01:12:22.880 --> 01:12:27.060
To where I began

01:12:28.520 --> 01:12:30.960
It's like you're leaving

01:12:31.090 --> 01:12:33.700
The only one

01:12:34.380 --> 01:12:36.680
Left alone leaving

01:12:42.440 --> 01:12:44.300
I won't invite

01:12:47.660 --> 01:12:48.360
Yeah

01:12:51.600 --> 01:12:55.580
And I want it mine

01:12:58.140 --> 01:12:58.680
Again

01:13:40.800 --> 01:14:00.440
All right, that was Painted Wives, and the song Countless from their album Obsessed with the End. Is that not a fucking badass song? I love these guys. Fucking love it. Stick around to the end of the show, and we are going to play you another song from Painted Wives. All right, let's get back into our time.

01:14:00.500 --> 01:14:29.780
And like I said, I took this week's top three from the suggestion from Will. We're going to do our top three favorite bands you never saw live. Yet. Well, I sort of... Because I think our age difference plays into this too. Because I'm only going back to 99, 2000 when I got into metal. Some of these bands were before my time. Right. And in fact,

01:14:30.100 --> 01:14:36.720
and I can't see them. So I put bands I haven't seen, but the possibility could still be there.

01:14:37.090 --> 01:15:00.060
One of my bands still exists. Two of them I can't see because people are dead. But that's, you know, when I think of bands that I haven't seen that are favorite bands that I would like to see, that's what came up. Now, you know, it'd be stupid to be like, Jimi Hendrix. I mean, you know, that's before my time. These are bands that I could have seen. They were around, but they died and broke up before.

01:15:00.080 --> 01:15:29.740
I could see them. But either way works. Three favorite bands you haven't seen live. Number three. It's the current one. Between the Buried and Me. Yeah. Would love to see them. I think they would be amazing live. Number two. Because they are so rare to tour and come around is Bolt Thrower. Oh. Okay. Yeah. That should have been on there. Definitely. I don't even know an opportunity.

01:15:29.820 --> 01:15:59.760
you and I could have had to have seen them yet. Have they played Death Fest? Yes, they did. Okay, but that would have been the only opportunity we would have had. Yeah. Number three, I had the opportunity to see this with you, and given the current lineup of the band, I still kick myself in the ass because I missed my opportunity, Iced Earth. Yeah. That was number one, you mean? Yes. No, I'm sorry. Number one, Iced Earth. When Matt was still in the band. I didn't see him with Matt. You didn't? No, I saw him with

01:15:59.800 --> 01:16:29.740
with Ripper. Okay. I would have taken that. Oh, it was a good show. Yeah, I would have taken that too. Their glorious bird album that Ripper did with them is amazing. Yeah. But to see them, you know, the classic Ice Earth lineup. Yeah, I would have liked to have seen that. All right. Well, my three. I thought that was a pretty good list. It was. In fact, I just had to expand mine to top four because number four, Bolt Thrower. Wow, man, I am scoring points today. And technically, well, I'm going to leave it at four. But it's very close to it could have been.

01:16:29.800 --> 01:16:59.760
It should have been three. My three, though, I've wanted to see for like 30 years, and I've never seen them, and that's Running Wild. I know, yeah. The only time you can see Running Wild is when they do the odd show in Germany, and I think it's like, hey, let's have a show tonight, and don't tell anybody, because I keep checking their website. I'm like, I will fly to fucking Germany to see you, because you motherfuckers will not come here. So you let me know when you have a show, and I will come, and I have yet to hear about anything so that I can go over

01:16:59.820 --> 01:17:29.680
and check it out. So, number three, Running Wild. Number two, probably not a big surprise, Woods of Ypres. Amazing, amazing band. Filled before its time. Would have loved to see them play live. Did they tour? They did. In fact, I have a few live recordings that were released that sounded pretty good. But would have been great to see them live. Number one, Bathory. What a fuck. I don't think he, I mean,

01:17:29.800 --> 01:17:59.720
I think they did some shows early on, but for the most part, Quarthon was doing a lot of stuff himself, and it wasn't really a touring sort of thing. But I know they did play some shows, and I would have loved to have been able to check out Bathory. I'll just add my band that I was young. It wasn't before my time, but I was young, 10 or so. If I had the opportunity, knowing how much I enjoy them now, Alice in Chains. I know it's not metal, but that would have been my band. I saw them.

01:18:00.460 --> 01:18:29.260
Yeah, that was an amazing show. It was like on, what do you call that, Lollapalooza? It was for the Dirt album. That was pretty badass. Dude, do you know how amazing it would have been to be, I've told my favorite album of all time is their unplugged album. To be in that crowd, to see that performance, oh man, would have been amazing. But yeah, I kicked myself in the ass because that Ice to Earth show, I could have been there with you to see. Yeah, in fact, you were supposed to. Might have even bought a ticket. Man.

01:18:29.800 --> 01:18:57.980
And then, you know, they've had so many fucking changes and ups and downs and stuff. Yep. So I was thinking about doing this list. I've seen my greats. I saw Pantera three times with Dime. We saw Dio with Heaven and Hell. I've seen Maiden. I've seen Priest. I saw Super Joint Ritual like eight times. I'm not putting them up there with the greats.

01:19:00.480 --> 01:19:29.760
I have a problem with them did you ever have an opportunity I see your poster over there did the Ramones and did they come around when you were growing up and did you see them I saw them twice once in 1990 it's right after well it was in 1990 uh August of 1990 I think it was and and then I saw them again with a white zombie I want to say 96 97 somewhere around there

01:19:29.780 --> 01:19:58.780
So I got to see them twice. Were they pretty good live? They're very different live. I mean, it's a known thing that when you go see the Ramones, they play the songs like twice as fast as they are on record. Is that because they're just so whacked out and drunk? No, no, no, no, no. I mean, it's just something. That's just the nature of the beast. It's just the nature of the beast. For whatever reason, they slowed things down to record them. You know, it's like they did a headlining set in like 45 minutes. Played like, you know, 20 some songs.

01:19:59.080 --> 01:20:29.040
because they're just like boom boom boom boom one two three four and they just they just plow through it uh so you know it's cool it was great i'm just a small venue low no okay no one of them was that uh pine knob which i believe it no longer exists or it's been renamed it's basically like a nissan oh wow uh or maybe yeah it's more like a nissan than a merryweather and uh then the other time i saw them at the palace of auburn hills which would be sort of like verizon center well i'd be cool to see them imagine seeing them like a fucking

01:20:30.700 --> 01:20:58.880
Like a wrecker in Baltimore? Yeah. I never got to see anybody play at CBGB's. I did go there on a pilgrimage once. My wife was nice enough to, we were in New York, and I was like, can I go see CBGB's, please? Went and bought a t-shirt and went in and looked around. It's cool because there's like Joey Ramone Place is the name of, they renamed one of the streets outside. And the crosswalk in front of the place,

01:20:59.040 --> 01:21:01.140
You know how there's like a person

01:21:01.940 --> 01:21:08.260
for a white person for walk and an orange hand for stop. Somebody had knocked out the lights

01:21:08.760 --> 01:21:13.160
in the hand so that it was a it was like the uh you know that the devil horns.

01:21:14.360 --> 01:21:28.960
I was like that's pretty cool. Anyway moving on we haven't done this in a while. We haven't done anything in a while. Convincing Buke. I've been trying uh. The last convincing Buke I went out and bought that on vinyl. The Wayfarer. Hell yeah.

01:21:29.040 --> 01:21:58.980
That's awesome. It is. That's what I wanted to give credit to. That didn't make my list from last year, but that's an amazing release. It was on my list. But yeah, it was a great album. Great release. And it's technically black metal. And so I wanted to, you know, push things a little further. The other day, Buick always talks about how I don't like black metal because it's just blast beats and screechy stuff. I was like, well, it's not 1994 anymore. There are black metal bands that don't sound like that.

01:21:59.040 --> 01:22:29.000
And to make my point, but you have to admit if that's your first introduction to black metal Sure, if you're just and I'm not ready for that. You're like, whoa What the fuck is this and I'm not saying I don't like that I do like the old mayhem Emperor Dark Throne stuff, but there is other more contemporary black metal not just symphonic black metal but regular black metal and so to make my point I sent him a YouTube video of Dark Thrones song Valkyrie from their last album and he was

01:22:29.020 --> 01:22:33.160
was like man this is great what the fuck is this this is dark throne yeah this is dark

01:22:33.220 --> 01:22:40.080
exactly and so i was like uh-huh all right well we have to continue down this path i could have gone with

01:22:40.200 --> 01:22:46.660
more dark throne but i already know you know i i knew to give you that's new dark throne i know you're

01:22:46.660 --> 01:22:54.960
gonna like that you're not ready for old dark throne yet you're not you're not ready for a blaze in the northern sky

01:22:56.199 --> 01:23:24.940
But I did pick something from 1998. So this is a little bit after the initial wave of Norwegian black metal. This is a Swedish band called Dawn and their album Slaughter's Son, Crown of the Triarchy. Now, I know you like Dissection. This is a Swedish band like Dissection released shortly after Storm of the Lightsbane. That was like 96. This is 98. So it's a very similar style of melodic

01:23:25.580 --> 01:23:54.160
So you're going to have to check this out and see what you think. I think the black metal singer, their voice lends well to the melodic singing that they do, the harshness to it, but also the tone that they sing in. The vocals on this album, they're harsh. I don't think they're as screechy as what turns you off. I mean, if you like dissection, you ought to like this. I think they're piercing enough that it cuts through the music, which is good, but it's not annoyingly screechy.

01:23:54.200 --> 01:24:24.120
As long as it's not constant blast beats too. Yeah, no, the music is very good on this. I think you'll really like it. A couple of the songs, The Nell and The World, Ride the Wings of Pestilence, and I may change my mind before I post to Facebook, but at this point I'm thinking Malediction Murder will be the third song. So I'm going to post these on the Metal Disciple Facebook page so you can listen to them as well. And comment too. And comment if you wish. And on the next episode,

01:24:24.180 --> 01:24:54.020
So you can come back and let us know whether I have convinced him that Don is in fact a great black metal band. Perfect. All right. Can I just somebody just came to me. Can I just add a little note tonight? We totally forgot. Iron Reagan. Oh, is playing. Duh. I thought there was another band. That's who I'm fucking excited for. So there's actually six bands. Yes. Oh, we're going to be fucking hurting. I thought there was a sixth band. I was like, who am I forgetting? Okay. Well, at least it's a good band.

01:24:55.500 --> 01:25:22.580
Moving on. So, what have you been listening to? So, keeping in the theme of what the classic sound we're kind of going for, I, the past week and a half, kind of by chance, have been listening to a doomy, stoner, sludge, psychedelic at times, band from Italy. Want to guess? Their 2013 release. Hmm.

01:25:24.240 --> 01:25:29.620
Awesome album fucking awesome do me sludgy Italian band do I know them I don't know

01:25:31.480 --> 01:25:54.160
Dr. the V oh no this isn't one that will tell us about nope no it's not vulgari it's a band called void of sleep oh yeah okay their album tales between reality and madness yeah I think I have that blends all those genres where I said and it's amazing amazing it at times

01:25:54.320 --> 01:26:22.380
Sounds like Pentagram. At times, you pick up modern stoner riffs. Awesome stuff. Awesome. I really like Italian doom metal. Yeah, I've got that. Yeah. Yeah, that's good stuff. Really good stuff. I've said it before. I think we need to pick up and go to Italy and make a documentary on Italian metal bands because there's some really good Italian metal out there. Yeah. It's funny.

01:26:24.800 --> 01:26:50.680
I've been listening to this. But this was just a Spotify find. And it's cool. The pentagram kind of do me sound shines through with the modern other sounds. Really cool. Right on. My band this week comes from a town where we don't like their hockey team, but we do like their metal. From Pittsburgh, this is Dethlehem. And their latest album, their third album, Destroyers of the Realm.

01:26:54.160 --> 01:27:23.860
came across these guys. It might have been like a, you might like this kind of thing on YouTube. I was listening to something and saw it and clicked on it and said, Oh, this is fun. It's a pretty amusing band. It, I was thinking about this when I was listening to it the other day. And I think if before he went back to scum doggy, um, if odorous your rungus had accosted and, and had his way with his cuttlefish with blind guardian, the offspring would be death.

01:27:25.480 --> 01:27:54.140
because they are pretty wacky and in a guar sort of way but it's also fantasy themed like blind guardian or you know any number of other bands and it's sort of it's more of a melodic death metal than uh you know blind guardians more power metal but this is there's some clean vocals there's some harsh vocals they do a lot of interludes not a lot but like a few interludes where there's actual like story yeah and it's that's what

01:27:57.020 --> 01:27:59.100
It's like a concept album and

01:27:59.620 --> 01:28:02.920
every couple of songs they'll do an interlude where they move the story

01:28:03.140 --> 01:28:06.640
along more. And these guys are unsigned

01:28:06.940 --> 01:28:10.920
so I'm actually hoping to have them on one of the upcoming episodes

01:28:11.140 --> 01:28:15.040
perhaps the next episode if I'm lucky. So I'm going to try and get a hold of them and see

01:28:15.040 --> 01:28:18.660
if I can get them on here and then we can actually play you some of their music because it's pretty cool.

01:28:19.480 --> 01:28:22.880
Alright, well do you have a classic for this week? Yep. This was

01:28:22.900 --> 01:28:52.820
inspired by a recent trip to Soundgarden about a month ago. I'll admit when I went, I had not heard this album a lot, but I had seen the cover for the reissue hundreds of times. Is it Witchfinder General with the girl with the boobs? I wish. It's not that nice. But I had seen the reissue cover from the 2001 reissue. This is the Pete Steele project, Carnivore. And their album, Retaliation.

01:28:52.880 --> 01:29:21.900
That's good stuff. Not released September of 87. Crossover thrash band. Yeah, it's like punk. Back before Typo Negative, it was much more of a hardcore slash metal punk thing. But with the, you know, kind of dark humor that Pete has. Tracks like Jack Daniels and Pizza, Angry Neurotic Catholics, Jesus Hitler. Jesus Hitler.

01:29:21.980 --> 01:29:51.960
I was listening to on the way over Adolph Christ yeah has he come to save the Jews or to destroy them okay carnivore not exactly the most PC of bands I think it was all done in fun I would I like to think so because it's dark dark humor but but yeah you gotta be a little careful about music it's music if it offends you well fuck off don't listen to it you're not taking this to heart but no great

01:29:51.980 --> 01:30:21.960
I had overlooked his early stuff like this for years. Yeah. And I think you had picked this up at Soundgarden. I did. I did. Yeah, I got the vinyl. And hearing it, it's great. You can start to hear the typo beginnings. Yeah, I mean, the early typo, you know, Origin of the Feces. Yeah. And what's the other one? Slow, Deep, and Hard. Still kind of had this vibe going on. And then when Bloody Kisses came out, boom, it was going

01:30:22.060 --> 01:30:51.820
Completely different. Does Carnivore get any respect at all? Sure, yeah. Okay. Yeah, they do. Sounds like Rodney Dangerfield over here. Get no respect. I get no respect in the Metal War. I was talking to my doctor, Dr. Vinnie Boomba. I never understood why that was funny. When he says that, he's like, my doctor, Vinnie Boomba. And everybody's like, ah! If you know why that's funny, please let me know. I don't fucking have a clue. We need a tagline. Yeah, yeah. Okay, go ahead.

01:30:52.000 --> 01:31:21.940
All right. Our new tagline is, oh, the guy from Omen. Oh, the guy from Omen. You're never going to let me live that down. Oh, yeah, dude, that's two now. Dave Lombardo. Oh, yeah. Was on the Testament album. That's right. See, I'm starting to slip. I'm getting old soon. You're going to have to put me out to pasture. Yep, bring in Will. George is done. Yep, yep. Getting too old. Okay. Speaking of old things, I actually, if I recall, I think I talked to Will about this band.

01:31:21.980 --> 01:31:51.960
The band's called Power Mad. And the album... I love that name. Yeah. This album came out in 1989. It's called Absolute Power. The band was from Minneapolis. Did they play power chords? No. Well, I mean, yeah. Most metal bands do. I just love the name. It was kind of a late 80s thrash metal, maybe a little progressive. I remember I bought this CD used at like Wazoo Records in Ann Arbor, Michigan or something like that. And it was just like a...

01:31:51.980 --> 01:32:21.960
something I bought picked up for a couple of bucks and it blew my mind I was like holy crap and I just I loved this album this was like you know for like a summer or something I was just really into this album you were power mad I was mad for power mad and then they never put out any more albums and after you know a couple years later grunge came along and it just seemed like okay these guys are never coming back and they I mean apparently they're active again and and they've maybe done a couple of singles or something

01:32:21.980 --> 01:32:51.660
I said it hasn't been updated since the 12th, but they played a festival in Minneapolis. Of course, and that's where they're from. So, you know, maybe we'll see one of those albums from a band that hasn't put out an album in 25 years. But definitely check out Absolute Power. It is a definite classic. All right, well, you got anything else, or are we going to wrap this up? Just great to be back, buddy. I enjoy doing this, you know, our fun little hobby here. Yeah. I really enjoy doing this a lot.

01:32:51.720 --> 01:33:21.160
So I'm truly glad to be back. All right. Well, let's wrap this up so we can get out there, hit the record stores and get to our show. Be sure to find us and like us on Facebook. Search Metal Disciple, Metal Disciple Metalheads Podcast. We're on Twitter at Metalheads Pod. And Disciple OV Metal. And I'm at Opeth Fan. We're also on Stitcher and we're on YouTube. We're on Instagram.

01:33:23.800 --> 01:33:51.320
WeAreMetalHeads.com website. I know it's kind of ugly right now. It's got ginormous pictures of our heads. Metal heads. Get it? I'm working on a redesign for that. Hopefully in the next month or so, we will have something different in place. Can you confirm that the problem you talked about a couple weeks ago about the pod, the feed, that's all been fixed and worked out. It seems to be, yes. Yes, we do have more than 20 podcasts in the feed now.

01:33:51.720 --> 01:34:09.380
It's all there. Check it out. Alright, we're going to wrap this up now with another song from Painted Wives. You can check them out at paintedwives.com. They're also on Facebook. Give them a listen, and here you go. Like I promised, the second song is called My Sisters. We'll see you next time.

01:34:24.620 --> 01:34:51.680
What'll they do with me? Read my books and leave the sentences down Spoken all my names Three blades of man Dead by me in tears You can have my life's worth But my heart is dead

01:34:51.700 --> 01:35:21.680
This morning, noon and night Close to three of us die I ate my sister's Bible And then she said You better leave before the devil fills your head There's nothing worse Than being fair

01:35:21.700 --> 01:35:30.080
I'm the only one, I'm the only one left for the reason.

01:35:32.700 --> 01:35:43.240
As it crossed towards an early prime, you'll find my body carved into a painful grave.

01:35:43.700 --> 01:36:09.500
My hands splashed across the boards of black line and their soul shamed, we'd stand here on my grave. Three graves of eyes, morning, noon and night, close to three of us die.

01:36:43.700 --> 01:36:45.120
"Frecre

01:37:13.720 --> 01:37:15.460
New at night

01:37:16.440 --> 01:37:18.800
All two, three of us

01:37:19.660 --> 01:37:20.460
Die

01:37:22.560 --> 01:37:22.620
Die

01:37:24.440 --> 01:37:25.180
Die

01:37:29.060 --> 01:37:29.860
Die

01:37:36.620 --> 01:37:38.380
Hello again, this is George

01:37:38.960 --> 01:37:39.980
And this is Buke

01:37:40.580 --> 01:37:42.760
And we are on the road home

01:37:42.780 --> 01:38:10.740
after tonight's show at the Baltimore Soundstage. Featuring Napalm Death, Voivod, Exhumed, Iron Regan, Ringworm, and Black Crown Initiate. It's a long-ass show. Yes, very long. The longest I've been to that wasn't a festival environment in a while. Longer than I can remember.

01:38:12.780 --> 01:38:42.320
Six bands, six freaking bands. Wow. Yeah, we forgot about Iron Reg in there for a minute, but I don't know how we did that. So what's your overall impression of the show? Was marred by horrendous sound quality not coming from the bands. A horrible,

01:38:42.760 --> 01:39:12.740
Stage Show from the venue. It's here in Maryland. It's about 16 degrees right now or 15 degrees. And you're not allowed to smoke inside Maryland bars or clubs. So the other way around it is leave the fucking front doors open and let people come and go wherever they want to go and smoke. Therefore letting the cold frigid air in this fucking venue like it's a

01:39:12.780 --> 01:39:40.740
65 and with a cool summer breeze coming in. Those of us from Michigan who are used to perhaps a slightly chillier temperatures, I was actually quite comfortable for the most part. I even had my sweatshirt unzipped and it wasn't too bad. But I can understand why those from the milder climes of Maryland would perhaps get their panties in a bunch.

01:39:43.239 --> 01:39:48.180
Initial Impressions, me personally, I'll start with Black Crown Initiate.

01:39:48.820 --> 01:39:54.760
They lived up to the good things I have heard about them live.

01:39:57.060 --> 01:40:02.860
And it's funny, when we were leaving, we went out and we went the wrong way around the building to get to the parking garage.

01:40:04.900 --> 01:40:11.360
And we turned the corner and the singer for Black Crown Initiate, and I was like a girlfriend or something,

01:40:12.260 --> 01:40:42.220
Or groupie, maybe. Wouldn't that be scandalous? I don't know. But the singer for Black Crown Initiate and somebody else were walking around the corner the other way and Duke wasn't... He was trying to figure out how to get in the parking garage. I'm like, dude, dude, that's like the singer for Black Crown Initiate. Yeah. I was cold and I'm being a bitch and I was pulling a George. Where's the fucking parking garage? Where's the entrance? I know. I was thinking about that when we were at the

01:40:42.240 --> 01:41:12.120
and you're complaining about the cold. I was like, oh, it's his turn this time. Last time it was my turn to bitch about the dude in front of me that was too tall. Yes, this is probably one of my first bitching concerts. Yes. Whereas this time I was pretty well, you know, pretty much happy the whole time. George was bitch free. Yeah. He didn't bitch once. Oh, I was good. I was like, hey, I got a stool to sit on, a rail to lean on, I can see. It's a comfortable temperature because usually it's too fucking hot.

01:41:12.260 --> 01:41:42.220
in a concert for me personally. So I was like, ah, this is a nice little breeze coming through here, you know. Black Crown this shit was lived up to all of the things we've said about them the past couple episodes. You know, making our year-end lists and everything. Live, even with the horrible sound system here in Baltimore soundstage, they did put on a great show. It was three or four songs, but they knocked the ball right

01:41:42.240 --> 01:42:12.080
Yeah, the park, I think it was more like four or five. But the one thing I could be critical about them with is that it was obvious that they must be a younger band because they really didn't move around much. They really didn't have much stage presence, unfortunately. They sounded good. They did. But they just kind of, and it could be because there were like, what, five guys on a small stage, you know.

01:42:12.240 --> 01:42:14.740
with everybody else's drum sets set up behind them.

01:42:14.940 --> 01:42:16.160
Now thinking about that, you're right.

01:42:16.180 --> 01:42:20.540
They just kind of stood in place and played.

01:42:20.660 --> 01:42:23.720
And I was like, whatever, you know, they sound good, I don't really care.

01:42:24.180 --> 01:42:37.080
But it was quite obvious by the time that Iron Regan came on that, oh, yeah, they had a little bit more stage presence and, you know, energy.

01:42:37.700 --> 01:43:06.660
I stand by what I keep saying about Black Crown. Seeing them today in person, how young they are, I expect big things from these guys. They look young. Yeah, like the drummer and the, I think it was the bass player, looked like they were about 15. Yes, these guys are going to be big. They need to grow beards so they look older. And then when Ringworm came up, I had nothing to say about them. I thought they were... The singer was great. No, the singer's the worst thing about them. They're on stage.

01:43:07.460 --> 01:43:37.420
Oh yeah, I was gonna say they did actually have good stage presence and I was like, oh well at least they have some energy but that singer man, I don't know what the he just he doesn't seem to go with the music he just screeches in a monotone that doesn't ever change and I'm like, you know, if it was a different singer they might be kind of cool the music wasn't too bad but yeah, I was glad when their half hour came to an end

01:43:37.460 --> 01:44:07.360
Then we moved on to Iron Regan, who of course, we're fucking awesome. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Now I can see why Tony, his part in Municipal Waste, now I can see why they're almost at the forefront of that revival. Yes. Because the energy he has alone on stage and how much fun, it's just, the crowd just,

01:44:08.300 --> 01:44:37.360
Sucks it up. It's infectious. Yes, it is. It was just a fun live show that they put on. And for those of you who haven't heard of Iron Regan, they're a crossover, punk, hardcore, metal band. I've never heard of hardcore, but thrash, punk, fun, you know, just a fun band. 50% municipal waste. Yeah, yeah, pretty much. Tony and Phil. Yeah. They were the highlight of my night, personally.

01:44:38.840 --> 01:45:07.400
And then after that was exhumed, which I thought they were alright. I mean, you know, they were what they were, you know. They played a lot of older material from, like, gore metal. And that older material is not really my favorite. I really dug their last album, Necrocracy. But I don't think Buke thought too much of them at all. Not my style one bit. I like death metal. I don't like the...

01:45:07.440 --> 01:45:37.420
The classic Exhumed style, which is the real guttural, can't make out anything at all from them. And that's what they played almost exclusively. I was pleased, though, however, see, when Bukes said that they don't really have much of a stage show there, what he was talking about is the lighting. They don't, well, at first we thought they only had red gels, because for Black

01:45:37.460 --> 01:46:07.420
IKron Initiate and Ringworm, there were only red lights. Just red. No white, no blue, no green. Just... What's the flash of red? We're talking solid. Yeah, just solid red lights. I'm sitting here trying to take some pictures, and I don't know if it's like a technical thing that red is harder to focus on than blue or green, but I've always noticed that my camera...

01:46:07.440 --> 01:46:36.840
I generally only take a point and shoot into the shows because I don't want to deal with trying to get a photo pass or anything like that. The point and shoots have real trouble with focusing in red light. And so I was kind of pissed off because I was like, I can't take any damn pictures. I can't focus. Everything's just solid red light. But by Iron Reagan, or no, actually it wasn't even Iron Reagan, it was exhumed. They started throwing in some white lights and some blue lights.

01:46:36.880 --> 01:47:06.560
And I was like, oh, hey, you do have more lights. Get a couple buttons. Yeah, I don't know if they didn't, the other bands didn't have anybody to work the lights or what, if they're just stingy with the power bill, I don't know. But by Exhumed, we started to get a little bit more of a light show, which meant I was able to get a few more pictures. Then after that, of course, was Voivet. Yeah, they, you know, you're, you know, you go back,

01:47:06.900 --> 01:47:36.860
Aways with them. To me, they were okay. I got nothing out of their way to say, positive or negative, about them. Alright then. That's just me. I have all their stuff, but nothing I saw blew me away and it wasn't bad. It was just... Yeah, they played some stuff from Killing Technology and from Dimension Hatros. Nothing Face. And a couple of songs from Nothing Face, which of course... They played the title track, Nothing Face, and...

01:47:36.880 --> 01:48:05.100
And of course the Pink Floyd cover song they closed with Astronomy Domine. And I thought they looked good. And you know, my second time seeing the band, first time without Piggy, I dug that they did the little tribute to Piggy. And... I was heartbroken. Jason Neestad's no longer in the group. Oh, boo-hoo.

01:48:08.140 --> 01:48:35.840
Yeah, well, I think they're doing alright. Yeah, they are. And I thought they sounded good. I was really pleased to see them. And then, of course, the ultimate headliners, Napalm Death. Now, by this point, Buke was getting kind of cranky. He was like, everything sounds terrible. We can leave right now. I don't even have to watch any Napalm Death. And I was like, I think I'd like to stick around and catch some of this.

01:48:36.880 --> 01:48:39.380
I've seen them before and I want to check it out and see what they're about.

01:48:40.980 --> 01:48:48.480
So we started watching them and lo and behold, the Grinch's heart grew three sizes that set.

01:48:50.880 --> 01:48:52.160
That's a great way to put it.

01:48:53.500 --> 01:48:56.440
The cold, cranky man sitting next to George.

01:48:58.140 --> 01:48:59.900
Napalm Death turned me around on them.

01:48:59.950 --> 01:49:05.560
I thought it was going to be more chaos and noise like Exhumed.

01:49:07.219 --> 01:49:35.900
But no, they came out in their... I heard a more dynamic sound from them. It was a bit tighter, less noisy. Yes. Something that, you know, in hearing them in the past, I hadn't associated with them. But to really give them a listen was not bad a single bit. And Barney, boy, he was moving around like a... like an epileptic chicken.

01:49:36.540 --> 01:50:05.500
And he was all like shaking his head and convulsing and he wasn't sitting still at all. I was like, man, for a gray haired old dude, he sure doesn't get around. Like I was telling you before we started recording here, I forgot he was British because I'd never actually heard him speak before. I just heard him sing. And between songs, he's all like, do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do-do. I'm like, ah, New Pump, that's a British band. Have you ever just turned up the monitor?

01:50:05.980 --> 01:50:27.620
Yeah, so that was kind of interesting. But wow, you know, they're pretty fucking brutal. And it was quite obvious, you know, there were some pits going throughout the night, but it was pretty obvious that everybody was there to see Napalm death because as soon as they got going, that pit just went fucking nuts. That was like half the floor, you know.

01:50:27.750 --> 01:50:31.740
And you said with their guitarist, is that right now injury, I believe?

01:50:32.280 --> 01:51:00.480
I didn't catch the reason why, but yeah, Mitch was not with them. I was looking at him, and I don't look like Mitch. Yeah, the guy from Brutal Truth is filling in. Okay. Obviously, Shane, you can't miss him with his giant hair and giant bald spot like a monk. Well, giant everything, really. He's very... Rotund? He's a little rotund, yes. He's a very recognizable guy, though.

01:51:02.280 --> 01:51:29.640
And so all in all, it was a good show. When we were talking about the girth of Shane, I was reminded of the pre-show. When we got in there, we hit up all the merch booths trying to find some shirts, and I was looking for a new hoodie. And, you know, we went to Black Crown Initiates' table. Nothing my size.

01:51:32.280 --> 01:52:02.240
Worm's table without even looking. Went over to Iron Reagan, nothing. Over to Voivitt's table, nothing. Over to Napalm Death's table, nothing. Okay, it's a nice napalm hoodie. Yeah, Mr. I, I don't think. Who sizes to pick from? Yeah, he got a napalm death hoodie. He's not the fat bastard that I am, apparently. I think, uh, I think these, uh, merch booth people, they discriminagate. They discriminagate. That's my new word. That's like deflate

01:52:02.340 --> 01:52:29.220
It's a great gate. It's a discriminate gate. They're going to discriminate gate against me. Against us that are perhaps a little more fun-sized. And I'm like, you know, there are plenty of people there that were bigger than me. And I'm like, you know, you're not catering to us by allowing a larger size. And it's not that unreasonable. You know, there are plenty of shows where you can get a 3XL shirt.

01:52:31.320 --> 01:52:58.080
But here, no, no, no. You have room for a pack mule with bags strapped to the side for the added weight of 3X and 4X shirts. Thanks, buddy. Thanks. I mean, I can understand that a show you can't have everything on hand because, you know, you got to lug it around with you. But what's the deal with not being able to order whatever size you want online? You know, everything's made to order these days.

01:53:02.400 --> 01:53:31.180
Freaking Napal Death hoodie, please. And I'd like to order it since I can't get it at the show. Your Testament will keep Prince of Miles on that Testament hoodie. Yeah, I guess so. Because nobody's fucking got anything. Can I? I want to pose a question if anybody listening will reach out to us. Do you see the same regular Metalheads at your shows? Because, you know, now that

01:53:31.200 --> 01:54:00.520
This is probably the hundredth or so show George and I have come to together. And you start seeing, hey, there's a vinyl record shop girl. There's, you know, Chris. Yeah, we saw a metal Chris. There's, you know, so-and-so. Do you start seeing the people that you don't talk to at these shows, but you just see them? I saw a vinyl girl came up and gave you a hug. Yeah. I was like, oh, well, you go there more than I do. Nobody talks to me. Nobody fucking likes me. I keep reiterating that point on the podcast.

01:54:01.220 --> 01:54:01.920
He fucking likes me

01:54:02.920 --> 01:54:04.140
Because you don't like other people

01:54:04.400 --> 01:54:05.400
I like everybody

01:54:05.590 --> 01:54:06.820
And I'm very nice and friendly

01:54:07.120 --> 01:54:08.100
So fuck you all

01:54:11.080 --> 01:54:12.300
I want to so quickly say

01:54:12.400 --> 01:54:14.740
We did stop by Black Mess Records

01:54:14.920 --> 01:54:15.600
Like I mentioned earlier

01:54:15.650 --> 01:54:16.700
We stopped by Black Mess

01:54:17.080 --> 01:54:18.380
We stopped by Soundgarden

01:54:19.040 --> 01:54:20.560
Made a couple purchases there

01:54:21.060 --> 01:54:23.560
Yeah and we did see the Black Mess guy

01:54:23.740 --> 01:54:24.720
And his girlfriend

01:54:25.940 --> 01:54:27.080
At the show later

01:54:27.840 --> 01:54:28.640
Didn't speak to them

01:54:28.640 --> 01:54:29.960
We also saw the guy that was

01:54:30.560 --> 01:54:59.800
Talking to him at the counter saw him too. And we saw somebody else, didn't we? Saw Record Store Girls, saw Metal Chris. The chicken fucking suit guy. Oh yeah, the chicken suit guy that we saw at the barbecue. He was there with the... Everybody knows him. I don't know what that's all about, but... So that was the show. Now, you know, I'm trying to warm up, but you're a hotbox over there, so it's still cold. Yep.

01:55:00.880 --> 01:55:04.800
All right, well, that's it from the road. We'll tack this on at the end of the

01:55:04.840 --> 01:55:10.120
broadcast so you can enjoy it later. Have a good one. See ya. Later.
