00:00:41.460 --> 00:00:55.280
Hello and welcome to the Metalheads Podcast. My name is George. This is Jay. This is John. This is Matt. This is Markisan. And today we welcome back Keith D from just about every band ever.

00:00:57.020 --> 00:01:23.560
He's got back-to-back releases in the last month from Dragons of Krull. And now this past week, Panda Kingdom. Welcome back, Keith. Good evening. It's so nice to see all of you and to be back here on the Metalheads podcast. It's really great, and I like it a lot so far.

00:01:27.020 --> 00:01:55.880
As you expected. It's like he did a promo again for us right there. Yes, you listeners may notice or recognize Keith's voice from some of those little drops that we have between breaks where he tells you how you listen to the Metalheads podcast and then says something generally hilarious. Anywho. So last month you released Journey to... Wait, wait, wait.

00:01:57.000 --> 00:02:26.580
I do. I apologize. And it is important that we get to Keith as fast as we can. But a shout out to George, who currently literally is positive with COVID right now as we speak. So I have more COVID than COVID. He's sitting up straight. He's not laying in the bed, but just hats off for. I was thinking of Darth Vader. They're like, he's more COVID than man now. I actually got it. Like I got, I totally got like a white zombie thing. Well, yeah, it's more human than human. Yeah.

00:02:27.020 --> 00:02:56.960
My apologies for interrupting, especially since you were getting ready to question our guests, but off you go. That was a good question. I was just going to say a bunch of stuff. But there's seven of us this time around. So it's you, the coronavirus, myself, John, and our guest Keith. So yeah, indeed. First time guest. Yeah. All right. So last month you released Journey to the Black Fortress under the band name Dragons of Kroll. It is a trad metal homage to the 80s.

00:02:58.260 --> 00:03:25.780
And then last week you released the self-titled Panda Kingdom album, which has a very majestic power metal meets doom vibe. And I have to admit that I'm not remotely surprised by your prodigious output because you are a music making machine. But anyway, let's start talking about these a bit. Let's start with Dragons of Krull. How did this come about?

00:03:26.780 --> 00:03:56.360
First of all, thank you for reminding me about these projects, because I forgot about them. Well, as many as you release, you know, it's like trying to remember what you had for breakfast last week. I know what you had for breakfast last week. It was toast. I thought this was like some kind of online stand-up comedy show that I was attending or something for a moment there. I was like, oh, shit, wait, I have to say stuff. Yeah, so Dragons of Kroll.

00:03:56.760 --> 00:04:26.700
I had the idea one day. I said on my social media, I think I would like to make a heavy metal album based on the movie Crawl. And, you know, when I say something like that, I'm actually being completely serious. So those, you know, my friends who know me, they know that I was not joking and I was going to make a heavy metal album based on a movie called Crawl.

00:04:26.760 --> 00:04:56.260
Crawl. Crawl. Fucking, have you seen Crawl? Wasn't that like the Academy Award Picture of the Year for 1980 Never? Great film. So for anyone who's listening who might not be familiar with Crawl, you can go on Google and just type in Crawl. There you go. Apologize in advance. Yeah, yeah. But if you don't want to do that, I could tell you now it's a sci-fi fantasy movie from 1983.

00:04:56.780 --> 00:05:26.380
I think it's great. Marky-san hates it. It's terrible. Yeah, he thinks it's a hot pile of garbage. But the movie actually does have a small kind of cult fan base. And it just made for a good inspiration for heavy metal records. The songs pretty much follow the events of the movie in order. A lot of lines of dialogue stolen, or I mean borrowed in the lyrics.

00:05:26.760 --> 00:05:56.160
And yeah, it's just a fun record to listen to. It's got like just an old school sort of Judas Priest, Man of War type of vibe going on. Yeah, that's a great record. Despite the questionable origins, I actually found the music on this album to be quite good. And in fact, probably much better than the movie. It stars Liam Neeson, come on.

00:05:56.760 --> 00:06:26.720
That's true. Liam Neeson is in it. He's got like a cameo in it. I bet he doesn't want to be reminded of that. Yeah, it's a lot better than making just a pile of shit album based on a really kick-ass movie. Maybe that should be your next project. This isn't the only movie that you've given a treatment to. Yeah. What else have you done? Just crank out some just terrible, awful album based on the Shawshank Redemption or something. It's the Top Gun album. Yeah, that is true. Oh, I like that one.

00:06:26.780 --> 00:06:54.880
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Redid the Top Gun soundtrack. Because why not, right? Yeah. That was fun. It's a dirty job, but somebody had to do it. Well, Keith, what was the first time that you actually watched Krull? Do you remember it? And how old were you? And how did you respond to it when you first saw it? Yeah, man. Long, long time ago. Let's see. I was maybe six when Krull came out. So I'd imagine I was six or seven when I saw it.

00:06:55.540 --> 00:07:25.480
And it just left a lasting imprint on me that has helped carry me through life up until this point. And Kroll has just kind of always been back there in the subconscious. Kroll in the skull? Yeah, yeah. You know, in the back of my head, there's just always this spinning glaive, that five-blade. Yeah, that's interesting because it barely spins in the movie. Yeah, they don't really do much with the glaive.

00:07:25.560 --> 00:07:55.300
It's such a cool looking weapon. And they hardly ever really do anything with it. And if you listen to the Dragons of Kroll album, I only mentioned the Glaive like twice in the last song. And that was on purpose. True to the movie. Because it only really comes in at the end. I mean, he finds it, doesn't do anything with it. Yeah. So I wanted the Glaive's presence to be as disappointing in the album as it was in the film. True, true representation there. Excellent.

00:07:55.540 --> 00:08:25.460
The Last Song Should Be Called Oh, By The Way. Just a little. So there is the crawl. Yeah, we've all got those movies that we picked up as a kid and we cherish them and they're actually garbage. One of mine is a movie you may have heard of called The Ice Pirates. Oh, yeah. And that movie, I don't know, I mean, it's been a while since I've seen it, but all I know is it had a space herpy. And, you know, it was supposedly really bad, but I love that movie.

00:08:25.520 --> 00:08:55.460
and me and my friends quoted that movie endlessly. Yeah, I saw that at a drive-in. That's how much it's ingrained in my head. Positively, that is. It's a good date night movie. So who else worked on Dragons of Krull? Yeah, so I'm doing kind of, I don't really play live anymore. I love like producing and making albums. It's all I want to focus on and that's what makes me happy.

00:08:55.540 --> 00:09:24.420
is just making records and putting them out. So I'm trying to lately do what I call buddy albums, like a buddy movie. Yeah. So these are my buddy albums where I get together with a friend and we make a record. So my friend, John, who is a great drummer from, he used to play in a doom metal band called Northless. I think I know that. Yeah, really great dude. Great sense of humor, real funny.

00:09:25.540 --> 00:09:55.440
He plays like a John Bonham style of drumming, very creative, and he's got a similar sense of humor. So when I posted that online that I was going to make an album about Kroll, he said, you know, I'd be down for that. So it was like when during the COVID quarantine lockdown stuff was all going on. So, you know, I make a song's worth of riffs and send it over to him through the email, and then he recorded his drums right there in his off.

00:09:55.540 --> 00:10:25.400
and sent them back to me to do the mixing. It was fun. That's awesome. How does he feel about Kroll? Yeah, he enjoys Kroll, I'm sure. Who doesn't? Yeah. Other than Markazine. Yeah, I mean, in order to play drums on a heavy metal album that is based on the film Kroll, I believe that it is perhaps a prerequisite of sorts to at least have some sort of interest in Kroll.

00:10:26.180 --> 00:10:26.740
Right.

00:10:27.720 --> 00:10:35.380
Whether it be a genuine love for the movie Krull or perhaps a morbid fascination of sorts.

00:10:35.960 --> 00:10:39.340
Could I recommend perhaps a follow-up album about the Beastmaster?

00:10:40.400 --> 00:10:40.860
Nice.

00:10:41.420 --> 00:10:42.960
Dude, fucking Beastmaster.

00:10:43.480 --> 00:10:44.380
That's a good movie.

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:45.720
I love that movie.

00:10:45.760 --> 00:10:51.980
I think I need to see a therapist now because I saw Beastmaster when I was like five years old.

00:10:52.160 --> 00:10:53.340
That movie fucked me up.

00:10:53.580 --> 00:11:23.560
I tried watching Beastmaster again recently it was when I was on the crawl kick I was like let's check out everything else from this sort of swords and sorcery time period of of movies and so I was watching Deathstalker and all that stuff and I came back to Beastmaster and I was watching it now through and more adult lens and that movie traumatized me when I was young and I watched it now and I was like dude this is fucked up that movie is

00:11:23.600 --> 00:11:53.560
pure nightmare fuel like from beginning to it's it's a disturbing film what about it disturbed you it's just filled with all this horrifying imagery and they like throw a kid into a pit of flames i actually like the child sacrifice scene that was i was like those crazy creatures that envelop you in their memories yeah just spit out bones it's yeah and there is like that witch that pours that

00:11:53.600 --> 00:12:23.260
Glowing Blue Juice on that thing and then takes the fucking fetus out of it or whatever. Yeah. Movie is fucked up, dude. That's great. That's funny because in the early 80s, I was a young lad and I was into Dungeons and Dragons and sword and sorcery type stuff. And at the time, there was not a lot of stuff in Hollywood that you could watch. You had Beastmaster, you had Krull, you had the Conan, Dragon Slayer.

00:12:24.900 --> 00:12:53.160
What's the Tom Cruise one? Legend. Princess Bride. Legends can be of nowhere. Ladyhawk. I love that one. So it's like at the time you were perhaps a little more forgiving because you took what you could get back then. And now you've got freaking Marvel movies and Lord of the Rings movies and everything. It's just. Kroll might be better than some of those recent Marvel movies. That's just my opinion. Some of those Marvel films are shit.

00:12:54.160 --> 00:13:22.760
I'm a little marveled out. Yeah. Just a tad bit. I haven't watched a lot of them. Guardians 3 was great. I still need to watch that. I'm also going to pitch again. I mentioned this to you guys the other day. It is a Marvel thing. Across the Spider-Verse is fucking awesome. Oh, yeah. That's got a lot of praise. We bought it today. So good. Awesome. Keith, if you're going to be going down this avenue of films from the 80s, you should consider the movie They Live.

00:13:23.480 --> 00:13:53.380
If you really want to make things messed up. Oh, nice. Yeah, that's a favorite of mine as well. I love that movie. Rowdy Roddy Piper. Best fight scene in any film ever. Ever. Ever. The fight scene's amazing. You know the one I'm talking about. All you have to do is say the fight scene and everybody in that scene they live knows what you're talking about. Yes. Well, Keith, for Dragons of Krull, how did you approach it differently than your other albums? Because it is a bit different.

00:13:53.460 --> 00:14:23.440
than everything else you've done. Everything he does is a bit different than everything he's done. That's what's amazing about what he does. He always gives a little bit different flavor. He is like a box of chocolates, okay? He's a box of caves. You're correct. It's very different in everything else I've done musically, mostly due to the fact that none of my previous albums or recordings are based on the movie Crawl. But this one is. And that's what's

00:14:23.500 --> 00:14:53.440
sets it apart from the rest of my discography. There are no bears shooting cheese from their eyes. No, not on this one. But that movie and just that kind of genre and time period of movies, especially that we were just discussing, they're just so metal. And they just lend themselves really well to that type of sound and inspiration. So we actually watched Kroll and

00:14:58.080 --> 00:15:22.180
I watched Krull while I was composing the music and while writing the lyrics of course and so the album I suppose you could say is very much inspired by Krull. How many times did you watch it? I was just going to say how many times did it take watching it to get this done? To get to the center of Krull? More than once.

00:15:23.480 --> 00:15:53.200
He licked Crow at least 232 times to get to the center. And then he just crunched it. Yeah. It's a really good album. Yeah. The riffs I figured should be, for lack of a better word, just knuckle dragging and a lot of just easy to play, just fun to play, I should say, instead of easy. It's like really fun to play. Just chug a da-na-na-na-na sort of stuff. Yeah. Which still resonates with us.

00:15:53.480 --> 00:15:58.120
I love it yeah I was gonna say when I listened to the album today

00:15:59.200 --> 00:16:04.300
I noticed you studied away from a lot of the cheese and the music in the 80s which was nice

00:16:05.180 --> 00:16:23.440
because like the song Widow of the Web that could have went so many bad ways it really could have and you chose not to and I was so happy because first of all it's my favorite song on the album but I was like man this could just be loud gang singing high hair hair spray metal and

00:16:23.460 --> 00:16:53.420
you chose not to and I was so happy you stuck to the earlier part of the 80s with this album sound wise that made me very happy when I was listening to it so yeah I really have lately been enjoying a lot of this new wave of traditional heavy metal bands that I've been just discovering left and right so that was the aesthetic that we were going for with that one yeah but even there's not a lot of some of the new bands I know Markisan likes a lot of these bands because

00:16:53.460 --> 00:17:21.640
He and I talk about sometimes, but they like to throw all these melodic solos in at the beginning of songs. It seems like some of the newer bands overdo it. And I don't remember so many bands in the 80s actually really doing that outside of like Maiden used to do it. But like Priest really didn't do that on their songs. And they're cited as one of the bands that influence so many of these kind of new tread bands that are coming out. So I'm just thinking out loud. That's what we do.

00:17:23.459 --> 00:17:51.840
He played it super serious when Krull is just a silly movie, really. So I like that too. This is making me think that you need to get together with Devin Townsend. It's funny. While I was writing up stuff for this, I had a little joke when it was Devin Townsend called. He said, slow down. He can't keep up. Yeah, because he's got Zeltoid. You've got Krull. Somehow there's a universe that's big that there's some intersection somewhere there. So which would be cool.

00:17:52.740 --> 00:18:22.640
You guys are the intergalactic butts versus penises album. Saved by the prog nipples. Yes. Nice. Oh, man. I don't think I would be able to keep up. That dude is like infinitely better and songwriter than me. So I don't know. Yeah, I don't know about that. I don't know. I might agree with you. You don't need to candy coat shit for me. Oh, in that case.

00:18:22.720 --> 00:18:52.540
If we do a Keith D versus Townsend, I'm picking Keith D every time. I'm picking both because we're getting both from whatever darkness or place that it comes from from both of them. We're getting both of those, so we should enjoy it. No need to pit them against. Put them on the same path together in their journey. Is fantasy something that you've always enjoyed, Keith? Is that something that's influenced you over the years?

00:18:53.140 --> 00:19:22.480
Have you enjoyed in other mediums besides music? Absolutely. Yeah. In the, as far as like movies and film go, I really enjoyed that fantasy genre, especially when I was younger and I still do now. I've somewhere back here, it's dark back here, but I've got like a recreation of the sword from Conan and stuff like that. You mean the one that's behind me? Yeah. Oh, get out of here. Oh man. It's a little dark back there.

00:19:25.320 --> 00:19:29.340
Yeah, you know,

00:19:29.440 --> 00:19:34.060
I influenced a lot from video games and things like that.

00:19:34.560 --> 00:19:38.300
Believe it or not, I've never played Dungeons and Dragons even once.

00:19:38.640 --> 00:19:39.380
Oh, you're missing out.

00:19:40.440 --> 00:19:52.040
Yeah, you know, a lot of my you would think that I do with a lot of the music I make and especially the my more goofy projects talking about shit like beholders.

00:19:52.240 --> 00:20:21.920
and elves and magic and things like that. Rainbow did that too. I never really got into that but I enjoy very much looking at the artwork and paging through those books. Beyond that it gets way too complicated for me. If you look at that Krull poster it is like one of the most metal posters ever. Really you just saw it now? No I've seen it. It's been a while since I've looked at the poster.

00:20:21.980 --> 00:20:51.440
It's one of the worst movie posters ever. I love it. I love it. It's so cheesy, but metal at the same time. It's great. Maybe a Buckaroo Banzai. Oh, there's another one. That is up Keith's alley, I think. You gotta remember, I was old for these films. I think I saw Crow when I was 15. I'm thinking maybe next, I think what would work well is a prog album based on Logan's run.

00:20:53.120 --> 00:21:21.960
I actually thought I'd be putting down a list of movies that would be interesting to see what you think and Logan's run is one of them yeah that that movie is Prague as fuck so yeah it is you're too old time to die time to die you're too old they're apparently not very athletic either because a slow moving robot on wheels almost caught them they were supposedly under 30 years old oh man I was watching that

00:21:22.000 --> 00:21:51.800
That movie for the first time with my wife, Logan's run, that shit, that fucking scene with that stupid looking robot came on. Oh man, we were in tears just laughing. It made no sense. Like the dialogue was so weird. He comes out, he's all like fish, plankton, items from the sea, proteins from the sea or whatever. What the fuck? It didn't even make any sense. But if you think about that movie, that is one fucked up movie. If you think of the content,

00:21:55.120 --> 00:21:58.900
It's based on a book from what I understand. It's supposed to be pretty good.

00:21:59.400 --> 00:22:03.680
So you know a movie that fucked me up as a kid was Poseidon Adventure.

00:22:04.680 --> 00:22:09.300
Yeah. Like the original one. I remember it was towards the end. I think it was almost over.

00:22:10.000 --> 00:22:12.180
And they're trying to get out and you know the ship's upside down.

00:22:12.960 --> 00:22:16.160
And there's this like watery flaming pit.

00:22:16.779 --> 00:22:20.100
And one of the guys, I don't remember if it was like Michael Caine.

00:22:20.620 --> 00:22:21.640
Gene Hackman. Thank you.

00:22:21.940 --> 00:22:47.780
He has to jump out over all of this and grab onto a hatch and turn this thing and then fall into the fire-y water and die. It just traumatized me as a small child. That would be a great movie to memorialize in an album. I think we've discovered a niche here for Keith. Do you like any late 70s horror at all? A little bit. Phantasm? I'm a big fan of the Alien.

00:22:52.440 --> 00:23:21.880
All the ones that came out after that can each. Yeah, they lost the plot a little bit. Game over, man. If the name of that record is not Game Over, man, you have the name of that. Keith, have you ever seen the movie Phantasm? Maybe a long time ago. We're talking about films that fucked you up. I saw that when I was a kid. That film fucked me up. It's a cool film.

00:23:21.940 --> 00:23:25.060
film when you're sober. Imagine if you've been drinking for a little bit,

00:23:25.060 --> 00:23:27.980
or if you delve into other activities,

00:23:28.220 --> 00:23:29.080
it's terrible too.

00:23:29.480 --> 00:23:29.780
Oh,

00:23:29.860 --> 00:23:30.140
it's horrible,

00:23:31.420 --> 00:23:32.340
but that's the whole point.

00:23:33.220 --> 00:23:33.320
Yeah.

00:23:33.480 --> 00:23:33.640
Me,

00:23:33.640 --> 00:23:34.740
it was water ship down.

00:23:35.340 --> 00:23:36.400
It still fucks me up.

00:23:36.660 --> 00:23:37.460
Fuck that movie,

00:23:37.590 --> 00:23:37.720
dude.

00:23:38.840 --> 00:23:39.680
Tell me about the rabbits,

00:23:39.780 --> 00:23:40.240
Markisan.

00:23:41.260 --> 00:23:41.580
Oh man.

00:23:41.740 --> 00:23:42.560
It's so creepy.

00:23:42.680 --> 00:23:45.800
That animation style and the black rabbit of death in there.

00:23:46.000 --> 00:23:46.600
There is a band.

00:23:46.700 --> 00:23:50.379
One of my favorite bands actually fall of Ephraim did three albums plus extra

00:23:50.400 --> 00:24:20.200
stuff all about Watership Down the Books. But that movie, even watching it now, it's still so disturbing. The general and how blood and slimes dripping out of his mouth creeps me the fuck out. I'll never watch it again. Never. Yeah, I like to watch that one again just because it holds up. And I was skeptical because a lot of times you watch that old shit and it's just terrible. You can't watch Thundercats now. It will ruin everything for you. Transformers.

00:24:22.260 --> 00:24:49.579
So I'm more of a Thundar the Barbarian. Thundar the Barbarian is still pretty good actually. Original Voltron still kicks ass. Oh yes. I watched that recently. I was like fuck I forgot how much this rules. Battle of the Planets. But there's so much bad stuff. I still want to watch old yeah I want to watch the old He-Man because now there's two or three different new He-Man shows. No. Stick to the original. Don't do it. That's what I'm saying it makes me want to re-watch the original one because we

00:24:49.580 --> 00:24:54.860
We had done a family thing for Christmas and the adoptive family and one of the kids

00:24:54.980 --> 00:25:00.260
wanted He-Man toys and so my wife bought all these different He-Man toys and we got them and I'm like

00:25:00.740 --> 00:25:04.940
this is all different stuff. This is all He-Man but these are different like time periods and so there was like

00:25:05.320 --> 00:25:11.240
the new stuff and it was weird that Netflix had two cartoons simultaneously that were He-Man and one was like

00:25:11.720 --> 00:25:15.939
kids and then was younger kids. I couldn't really even figure it out but I just I just want to watch

00:25:15.960 --> 00:25:43.760
He-Man Jr.? From the 80s? Possibly. I might watch it tonight. I don't know. We're talking about bad films that fucked us up. I'm thinking about a legit film that fucked me up. And I'm not thinking The Exorcist, because that fucked me up when I was a kid. Yeah, that too. But Deliverance fucked me up bad when I saw it the first time. Squeal for me! That's not even the scene that bothered me the most. It was at the end when he, Burt Reynolds is, what the fuck did you want me to do?

00:25:45.940 --> 00:26:15.880
as an adult, you're like, man, that's a hard decision to make. Yeah. That's fucked up. Plus the banjo kid messed me up a little bit too. Yeah. West Virginia, man. It's not West Virginia. It's in Georgia. I don't care. It's not West Virginia. West Virginia is a half hour from here. It's got banjos. Banjos all over Appalachia, but this podcast just took a really weird turn. Yeah. Yeah. We, we stopped for, we got off.

00:26:15.960 --> 00:26:17.400
the highway in West Virginia in the mountains.

00:26:18.080 --> 00:26:20.160
There's a little small ass down to get some gasoline.

00:26:21.160 --> 00:26:23.640
It was like a gas station and like nothing.

00:26:24.120 --> 00:26:25.200
And I'm filling up the tank.

00:26:25.400 --> 00:26:27.940
And I swear the people were looking out the window at us going,

00:26:28.100 --> 00:26:32.060
we can slap a rub on that boy and cook him up real good.

00:26:32.820 --> 00:26:34.480
Slap a rub on that boy.

00:26:35.420 --> 00:26:37.800
I'm telling you, man, we were both like, we got to get the fuck out of here.

00:26:38.000 --> 00:26:41.320
I think what's scariest about that is when you've seen it in a movie

00:26:41.440 --> 00:26:43.860
and then you realize like this actually exists.

00:26:44.560 --> 00:26:45.580
This isn't fiction.

00:26:45.900 --> 00:27:15.840
And it's actually worse. What is the film where they end up in that town? It's that they're all like deformed and mutants from a nuclear waste. Oh, I can't think of it. And it's all foggy the whole time in the town. Have you guys seen that? The fog? The fog is, no. Mist? I'll think of it. First of all, the fog is John Carpenter. I know. No, no, this is a town like in a mountain somewhere. They go and it's like a nuclear wasteland. There's all these mutated people.

00:27:15.940 --> 00:27:45.780
there and they basically eat all the people. The hills have eyes? Oh yeah. There you go. Thank you. Very intrigued. It sounds good. The hills have eyes. That was a good movie. Yeah. Oh, sorry. I'm thinking Lost House on the left. You know what I watched? Oh, that was awesome. Yes. I like that too. About the same time period too. Yeah. I just watched a movie that is near and dear to my heart when I was a child and it's like 30th or 35th anniversary. Swamp Thing. Oh yeah. Yes. I just got it on Blu-ray and watched.

00:27:45.900 --> 00:28:15.700
it. Yeah, it's not the same as when I was a kid. I still like it, but it's awesome. I think of it as way better in my mind shit happened that does not happen in the movie. Because I made it better in my mind after I watched it. Yeah. Will's favorite horror movie from the 80s. It's called I Spit on My Palm. You know, I'm thinking it's like he's here. Yeah, maybe Marcus, maybe.

00:28:15.880 --> 00:28:17.080
because you read comics,

00:28:17.280 --> 00:28:19.360
you've probably filled in the blanks with the Alan Moore stuff.

00:28:19.640 --> 00:28:20.400
Cause the Alan Moore.

00:28:21.640 --> 00:28:21.760
Yeah.

00:28:21.840 --> 00:28:22.080
It's great.

00:28:22.620 --> 00:28:22.680
Yeah.

00:28:22.740 --> 00:28:27.120
He revolutionized the swamp thing and with the green and all that.

00:28:27.120 --> 00:28:27.260
Yeah.

00:28:27.360 --> 00:28:30.360
They actually had a series for swamp thing like last year.

00:28:30.840 --> 00:28:30.940
Yeah.

00:28:31.240 --> 00:28:32.600
Like a season or something,

00:28:32.720 --> 00:28:33.520
but I never watched it.

00:28:34.420 --> 00:28:35.080
I watched it,

00:28:35.120 --> 00:28:36.480
but I remember much about it to be honest.

00:28:37.400 --> 00:28:37.500
Yeah.

00:28:37.500 --> 00:28:37.720
But yeah,

00:28:37.780 --> 00:28:38.520
the books are great.

00:28:39.340 --> 00:28:40.880
I have them in these absolute additions.

00:28:41.040 --> 00:28:43.120
They're like these giant oversized hardcovers.

00:28:43.560 --> 00:28:43.960
Three of them.

00:28:44.540 --> 00:28:44.680
Yeah.

00:28:44.780 --> 00:29:14.680
They get a good movie heads podcast. That's right. We never get distracted. Yeah. He's like, I gotta get a pen and write all this shit down. He's not about Krull. He literally held up his fingers and was like, wait, and then ran away. We should all just freeze. Maybe he's going to get swamp thing. Maybe he needs another beer. I used to watch all those movies. It just tons of times when they would show up on early HBO before things disappeared on these platforms.

00:29:15.080 --> 00:29:44.740
They would just run on and on constantly. So you'd see them like three and four times in a month. Yeah. But see, this is what Keith D does to us. He brings back the nostalgia hard. Yeah, man. Nothing wrong with nostalgia, man. All right. Yearn for simpler times. And it's so true. The 80s, I don't care what anyone says, and I know a lot of younger people would dismiss this, but it really was way more. Yeah. Yes. It was way more metal because they weren't trying

00:29:44.760 --> 00:30:13.840
to be metal. That's what's so funny about all this stuff. Meaning like the movies that we think are so metal. They weren't trying to be. They just were. And that's what's so funny about it. So Army of Darkness, all that shit back then was just fucking awesome. So I'm glad you mentioned that again. I saw that movie at the drive-in. It was just one of the greatest nights ever. We were all drinking. It was just because that's what you did at the drive-in. You went. One person drove in with the beer covered and everyone snuck in through the fence.

00:30:14.780 --> 00:30:43.200
And it was a nightmare, but it was so much fun. It was not what I expected. I watched the first one and it was scary for a younger lad, not too young, but young. Second one was all pure humor. Yeah. And so I was like, all right, I'm going to get into this second one. And then it was just like laughing my ass off the whole time. Yeah. That's when you realize Bruce has a whole different mindset. Yeah. All right. Why don't we move on to Panda Kingdom? I'm just going to keep doing that until you make me stop.

00:30:45.400 --> 00:31:14.700
So, Keith, tell us about how Panda Kingdom came around. Yeah, I will. I'll tell you that right now since you asked me about it. Oops, I said the word and I didn't do the harp. Oh, well. Thank you. The spell has been broken. The curse has been lifted. Thank you for breaking the spell and lifting the curse. And thank you for asking about Panda Kingdom, which I'll tell you about now or I'll try. You're welcome. So everything exists.

00:31:15.840 --> 00:31:17.040
Everything exists.

00:31:18.880 --> 00:31:25.040
One of the thing that exists is a panda kingdom, which I have been to.

00:31:28.240 --> 00:31:29.280
Yeah, yeah.

00:31:29.620 --> 00:31:30.960
So I went to the dentist.

00:31:32.280 --> 00:31:36.100
They gave me the gas.

00:31:37.520 --> 00:31:38.120
The good stuff?

00:31:38.500 --> 00:31:40.220
Yeah, my dentist is pretty cool.

00:31:40.330 --> 00:31:42.080
So he was like, Keith, how's the gas?

00:31:42.720 --> 00:32:11.800
And you want me to turn it up? And I was like, yeah, man, crank that gas. Crank it like Freedom Rock. Yeah, he turned it up too much. And or depending on how you look at it, he turned it up enough. And I had sitting in the dentist chair when you're getting work done, it can be anxiety, stressful. It can be triggering of anxiety, symptoms, panic attacks.

00:32:11.940 --> 00:32:41.740
So I try to deal with it mentally by going to another place. The gas worked very well. And I left my body. I had what can only be described as an out-of-body astral projection type of experience. And I went to the Panda Kingdom. I was there mostly like a disembodied form.

00:32:41.740 --> 00:32:43.980
So I wasn't there physically,

00:32:44.390 --> 00:32:45.280
but just floating,

00:32:45.540 --> 00:32:46.260
just observing.

00:32:47.560 --> 00:32:53.740
And the events that happen on the Panda Kingdom album are,

00:32:55.040 --> 00:32:55.740
it's just a,

00:32:56.250 --> 00:33:06.020
basically a recollection of what I experienced and witnessed during my visit to this place that I was transported to,

00:33:06.160 --> 00:33:09.100
which was in the great hall of a majestic,

00:33:10.140 --> 00:33:10.360
Amazing.

00:33:10.360 --> 00:33:10.520
Amazing.

00:33:11.430 --> 00:33:12.060
Very good.

00:33:13.100 --> 00:33:14.880
And fantastic kingdom.

00:33:15.810 --> 00:33:21.840
And the king was a large benevolent panda who was really great.

00:33:22.580 --> 00:33:23.640
I thought he was great.

00:33:24.820 --> 00:33:37.440
And there were some adventurers that had returned from a journey where they had acquired a magical yeast starter.

00:33:37.960 --> 00:34:07.620
So I don't know if any of you are familiar with like baking or beer brewing, but you have a yeast and it's a, you get it going. That's basically a yeast starter. You get it going on. Yeah. Yeah. And that helps ferment either your baked goods or your fermented beverages. And so this yeast starter was unlike anything that there ever was before. It was different in that it was,

00:34:07.960 --> 00:34:37.240
Great and amazing. And this magical yeast starter was going to completely revolutionize their bread and their beer, lagers, ales, you name it. Cinnamon buns, whatever. And so a great celebration was held in the hall of this kingdom, and I saw the whole thing. And so when I came back, I had the memories of this experience, and

00:34:37.760 --> 00:35:07.180
I felt that it should be made into an album that is just selling incredibly right now. It's huge. It's flying off the shelves. I can't even, I shouldn't even be doing this podcast right now. I should be wrapping up, I should be wrapping up, I should be wrapping up mail orders because there's so fucking many of them. Millions and millions. George just showed the vinyl for people who are listening.

00:35:08.200 --> 00:35:37.220
And sarcasm. Keith, you said your dentist twisted the knob a little tighter for you. What was his name again? Is his name Tim Watley? Any Seinfeld fans know who Tim Watley is? Oh, okay. Yeah. No. When Bryan Cranston played Tim Watley in Seinfeld, he got gassed, and Seinfeld thought he got groped when he was gassed. Oh. When he was talking about gas being a life-changing experience, I immediately had a flashback to

00:35:37.260 --> 00:36:07.180
Being in a hotel room with Jay. And that was all he said about that. I've blocked out that event now. I'm sorry. Trauma. I changed the direction of some lives that day. Really made a difference. It just proved that I made the right decision bringing my own pillow. Yeah. So Panda Kingdom makes me think of a Disney animated opera with a little masterpiece theater thrown in. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I used to watch masterpiece theater.

00:36:07.280 --> 00:36:36.960
I always really liked the intro to that show. Yeah. So in the chair and everything. So every song title begins with thy. Why? It's an inside joke with myself. The long, when you don't have any friends, you have inside jokes with yourself. Right. So a long time ago, many years ago, shit, like 15 years ago, dude, I was making one of the Arctic sleep records with, with,

00:36:37.240 --> 00:37:07.220
Joel, who is our engineer and producer, and we were just, I forget which song it was, Avenue of the Giants, I think, just has those just big majestic just quarter notes going on, and he said something to the effect of like, man, this, you know what this riff sounds like? This sounds like kings marching down halls. All your guys, your riffs sound like kings marching down halls, and that went on to, wouldn't it be cool if there was a subgenre

00:37:07.260 --> 00:37:36.360
because we're always coming up with weird metal subgenres that don't exist. King metal. Yeah. Sure. Why not? It's just all these big majestic major chords and everything. It sounds like kings marching down halls. That's literally what I wrote down as one of my comments was the pacing sounds like majestic power doom has the feeling of a stately procession rather than a fast paced power metal free for all. Then I have succeeded.

00:37:37.240 --> 00:38:07.080
My mission, which was to sell millions of these records, which I'm currently in the process. Very much at the beginning. Of course. I haven't quite got to the millions yet. We will. We will. But the the thy part of the question. Yeah. Sorry, I got distracted and completely forgot what you asked me to begin with. And I interrupted you as well. But why do all the song titles begin with the thy? It's okay to interrupt me.

00:38:07.240 --> 00:38:37.160
a lot of things of substance to say to begin with. It's just part of that inside joke. I had one song where I was like, it was thy castle or whatever. I don't even remember. And then as I was writing the other song titles, I was just as a joke, beginning them all with thy. And everyone told me that was stupid. And I didn't listen to them. I was like, no, I don't listen to people.

00:38:37.240 --> 00:39:06.180
When they tell me stuff or give me advice, I'm like, no. So I decided to name every song, starting with the word thy. It's just a silly joke, and it just adds to the King Metal aesthetic, because, you know, all the words are like thy, thou, thee, thou hast, this. The royal pronouns. Thou art, blah, blah, blah. I don't know what the actual word for that.

00:39:07.280 --> 00:39:10.540
E old words.

00:39:11.280 --> 00:39:13.060
A lot of old English in this.

00:39:13.320 --> 00:39:18.780
Yeah, so it's just a silly joke that makes me laugh, and I thought it was funny.

00:39:20.000 --> 00:39:21.000
Hey, Keith, are you?

00:39:21.380 --> 00:39:23.220
Nobody else does, though, but that's okay.

00:39:23.440 --> 00:39:24.080
I liked it.

00:39:24.620 --> 00:39:25.660
I'm glad you liked it.

00:39:26.360 --> 00:39:27.760
I'm glad thou liked it.

00:39:29.900 --> 00:39:30.740
Thou aren't welcome.

00:39:34.400 --> 00:39:36.100
Hey, Keith, are you a fan of Arion?

00:39:36.980 --> 00:40:06.940
The Music Not So Much But I Respect The Dude Big Time I Think He's Very Creative And Musical Genius What He Is The Music Isn't Really My Thing But Massive Respect For That Guy The Reason I Ask Is Because You Have Some I Don't Want To Say Dueling Vocals Going On But You Have Trading Off Vocals On Some Of The Songs Yeah And I Can't Think Of Anyone Else Who Does That Besides Him And I Only Imagine That It Must Be Very Difficult To Write For That Because You're Trying

00:40:06.980 --> 00:40:36.380
to have parts being played that kind of where emotions are playing off of each other. They're not just people singing parts. They're actually singing storyline when they're doing that. So this is actually a serious question about it I have. And then we can go back to king metal or royalty metal, whatever you want to call it. Did you have any trouble writing those parts? Did you know beforehand that you were going to write multiple vocal styles or vocal sections for different singers?

00:40:37.000 --> 00:40:41.240
or did that kind of just develop as you were putting it all together?

00:40:42.020 --> 00:40:44.780
Yeah, it did develop as I was putting it together.

00:40:45.260 --> 00:40:53.540
I write mostly, believe it or not, my songwriting process for any album that I do begins with song titles.

00:40:54.300 --> 00:40:55.360
I don't know how weird that is.

00:40:55.860 --> 00:40:57.180
I've never been saying that once before.

00:40:57.500 --> 00:40:58.140
To me, it's weird.

00:40:58.240 --> 00:41:03.640
So I start with the song title and that gives me the aesthetic and vibe that I'm going for.

00:41:03.780 --> 00:41:06.360
And then I'll start cranking out the music for it.

00:41:06.440 --> 00:41:35.800
and then the vocal melodies and then the lyrics last. And yeah, as I was, you know, working on the first couple of songs, I was just getting bored with myself. And I thought it would be cool to invite other singers to be on it. There was a lot of things that I wanted to do that I just wasn't capable of doing with my voice as well. Like having Arnaud Menard on there who can sing like crazy fucking high octaves and. Yeah.

00:41:35.920 --> 00:42:05.720
and shit like that. It was easy to write the lyrics for this album, though, because it's nonsense. If somebody said to me, I can't really follow the story of it. And I was like, good, because it's not supposed to. It's supposed to be goofy. And you're the John Anderson of King Metal. Yeah. My sense of humor is I just love nonsense. I love confusing people. And that makes me really happy.

00:42:05.920 --> 00:42:15.440
I like nonsense. I have this weird fetish for confusing people. So I like to put out stuff that's just plain weird.

00:42:17.280 --> 00:42:22.120
You had a number of other people on this album. Who else was on there? And how did you hook up with all these people?

00:42:23.000 --> 00:42:34.500
Yeah, so initially I put out just a message on my social media just explaining the project, being like, hey, if you know anybody who can sing in this style, hit me up. I'll pay you.

00:42:34.560 --> 00:43:04.400
And I, it was really important to me after a while to have it be as much of an international thing as possible with the internet being what it is nowadays and everything. It's very cool that you can collaborate musically with someone on the other side of the world who you've never even met before. And I just think that's so rad. And I love making those connections far all the way on the other side of the world.

00:43:04.600 --> 00:43:33.060
So I, on purpose, made sure people who were from different countries, different continents. And when I got responses to my social media post and everything from people from France and in Argentina and places like that, it was very exciting to me. I thought. Yeah, I pretty much had all of my vocal parts written and I sang all the parts and then I would send them a demo of me doing my shitty version of it.

00:43:33.140 --> 00:44:01.480
And then they would send me back their version, which was much, much better. And I just went ahead and mixed it into the song. What common software were you using? Was everybody all like on Pro Tools? I have no idea. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter because they just send you back like just a plain old audio file. And that's all it is. Interesting. All right. So who were the other people?

00:44:03.120 --> 00:44:32.740
I have Carolina Padron, who's a singer from Ecuador, if I'm remembering correctly. Arnaud Menard from France. Incredible. Amazing singer. He's the one who plays Coyote Con, does all those amazing high notes. He's the guy who, like, everybody who I played this album for is, damn, who is that singer? I just think he's fucking fantastic. And, oh, shit. I should have wrote this shit down because now I'm blanking out. You could take a look on Bandcamp.

00:44:32.820 --> 00:45:02.140
He's got the album in front of him. Yeah. Moro. Oh, God, I feel so dumb. Even dumber than usual. Moro Elias from Argentina. Thank you. And Tim Wells is the thy narrator. I thought that was you. No, Tim Wells. He's from UK. I specifically wanted someone with a British accent to do it. That's funny. When you have a narrator, let's face it, they gotta have a British accent.

00:45:02.820 --> 00:45:32.760
And I wanted the real deal. So this guy, he's actually a professional voice actor. And he's done like commercials for BMW and all these brands and everything. Like that's what he does for a living. That's his job, which I think is, is really cool. And he knocked that shit out in less than a day. Like I sent him the script and I sent him a recording of me saying this stuff just to give him an idea of how the cadence and everything should be. And he sent me back all that.

00:45:32.820 --> 00:46:02.780
that shit like a few hours later he just knocked it right out and i didn't yeah i didn't have to ask for him to redo anything or anything it was incredible man that's a professional yeah when i hear it it reminds me of balsa goth i familiar with balsa goth and battle metal yeah listen to that because there's a lot of like deep and majestic narration in the balsa goth music as well not a lot but there's some anyway the yeah the guy

00:46:02.840 --> 00:46:31.120
And they're British. He just knocked it out. My favorite thing about the entire Panda Kingdom album is the choirs that we put together. I think, just in my humble opinion, they sound fucking amazing. They do. And it's not because of me, partly is because I mixed it. But so for the choir vocals, my friend, you know, Nick Smolkowski, he played drums on a lot of the Arctic Sleep Records, right? Yeah.

00:46:32.800 --> 00:47:01.680
a real actual opera singer. Like the real deal. She went to school for that shit and everything. And so I had her come over and just layer on just all of these vocals to put those choirs together. I was wondering how many layers there were. Like a gazillion. So yes, Sarah Smolkowski, fucking one of the best singers I've ever heard like in person that wasn't on a stage.

00:47:02.180 --> 00:47:03.060
Just amazing.

00:47:03.620 --> 00:47:05.060
You need to get her on an Arth album.

00:47:05.580 --> 00:47:06.160
Yeah.

00:47:06.600 --> 00:47:13.180
And so I layered maybe 12 or 16 of myself for the male parts of the choirs.

00:47:13.220 --> 00:47:17.100
And then I had her double all of that stuff up and then some.

00:47:17.460 --> 00:47:25.540
So at the end of the day, those choirs, you're hearing like 32 separate vocal tracks all blended together with a lot of reverb.

00:47:26.400 --> 00:47:31.360
And they're panned this way and that to give it the effect of sounding like a real actual choir.

00:47:31.640 --> 00:47:33.700
It's just me and her doing those choirs.

00:47:33.960 --> 00:47:34.100
Wow.

00:47:34.660 --> 00:48:01.500
When I listened to that album, now I'm like, man, that's the, some of the parts where those big choirs kick in just sound really cool to me. And she was just such a mind-blowingly good singer. Like, just hearing that stuff in person, somebody sing like that, like a real opera singer, was just mind-blowing. My wife was walking around upstairs. She, like, got home from work and came in, and she said she came in and heard this amazing,

00:48:01.620 --> 00:48:31.580
singing coming from the basement and she was blown away. You could probably hear that shit on the street. It's loud. But yeah, I think the vocals that Sarah did on this album are my favorite part of the whole thing. And every time they come on, it just gives me chills. Yeah, that was an amazing job of putting it all together. Is it the most intricate album you've ever worked on? It is. Yeah. I worked on it for about three years from writing.

00:48:32.040 --> 00:49:01.600
to releasing. And normally a complicated album like an Arctic Sleep full length or something, I'll spend about one or two years on it. But this one, there's a lot of bumps in the road, a lot of hiccups, and a lot of the reason it sounds is it was a big learning journey for me as well, because I'm trying to become good at mixing and recording, doing all my own

00:49:02.440 --> 00:49:31.400
And when I listen to my old recordings now, I'm like, wow, this sucks. This sounds like crap. But with this one, I worked the mastering engineer that I worked with, Mayor Applebaum. If you look up his credits, he's probably mastered a good amount of the heavy metal records that are in your collection right now. Like everything from Sabaton to this and that, just like all these bands that are way, way more.

00:49:34.180 --> 00:50:00.580
He's like a big leagues mastering guy. And I specifically went to him because when I was trying to figure out who I wanted to master this record, I wanted somebody who would be honest with me and kick my ass a little bit. And I had heard that he has no qualms about, you know, if a mixer sends him something that, you know, he'll send it back to them and be like, change this. And I was like, yeah, this is the guy I want.

00:50:01.200 --> 00:50:30.280
Cracking the whip on me. And did he? Oh, fuck yeah. Normally when I send an album to a mastering person, you know, for those of you who are listening who might not be familiar, you get done mixing the record, you send it off to the mastering guy who applies the compression and the EQ and makes it sound loud but not too loud and just gets it ready for getting put onto vinyl or getting played on the radio.

00:50:30.380 --> 00:50:30.860
or whatever.

00:50:31.520 --> 00:50:31.580
Yeah.

00:50:32.160 --> 00:50:35.780
And typically you'll send a mastering engineer your shit.

00:50:36.210 --> 00:50:37.420
And then two days later,

00:50:37.580 --> 00:50:38.820
they'll send it back to you and be like,

00:50:38.900 --> 00:50:39.400
here you go.

00:50:39.880 --> 00:50:41.360
And that's the end of the story.

00:50:41.570 --> 00:50:43.020
Even working with a lot of the,

00:50:43.460 --> 00:50:44.580
the bigger mastering guys,

00:50:44.720 --> 00:50:45.360
that's how it works.

00:50:45.620 --> 00:50:49.000
But this dude doesn't really operate like that.

00:50:49.050 --> 00:50:51.500
I was almost feeling like I was being punked for a while.

00:50:51.660 --> 00:50:55.320
Cause he would like this dude wouldn't return.

00:50:55.560 --> 00:50:58.680
He's one of those people where if you send him an email,

00:50:58.860 --> 00:51:02.240
Then instead of returning the email, he'll call you.

00:51:03.500 --> 00:51:04.200
How dare he?

00:51:04.600 --> 00:51:09.740
Yeah, or like you'll text him and then he calls you, which to me is a little bit weird nowadays.

00:51:10.500 --> 00:51:12.080
I'm like, dude, just return my emails.

00:51:12.290 --> 00:51:14.900
But no, he'll call you and talk your ear off and shit.

00:51:14.930 --> 00:51:22.580
And I thought that I thought it was fantastic because he really seemed like he cared.

00:51:22.940 --> 00:51:27.520
And I almost couldn't even believe that he cared as much as he did.

00:51:27.600 --> 00:51:57.540
For a while, I was like, man, what's this guy's angle? He keeps like sending this shit back to me. It doesn't sound that bad, I don't think. But he would give me like these weird, vague. He wouldn't tell me like exactly what to fix, but he would give me these kind of weird, vague things. It was like some he was on some Mr. Miyagi shit or something. He was giving like me riddles to solve. So a total of 13 recalls I did on my

00:51:57.560 --> 00:52:27.440
that I sent to this guy. And I learned so much from working with this dude because he just whooped my ass so hard and his standards were so fucking high. And he just wouldn't settle for anything less than like the absolute best that I could do. So just in that three months of me sending him mixes and him saying they weren't good enough, it forced me to,

00:52:27.580 --> 00:52:57.540
just learn and grow and get way better at the production aspect of things and yeah every every time i'd get a phone my phone would light up and say mayor apple bomb on it i'd be like oh fuck what did i do now and he'd get on there and be like kit this sounds really good but and then i was like oh fuck at that point i was just like oh god i just want this album to be

00:52:57.580 --> 00:53:27.520
It was just like a very long and drawn out and painful process, which is what learning should be. So I, I owe that guy a lot. I can't believe I've never had a mastering engineer of all people be just so invested. And at the end of the day, I really do think that he cared about me and cared about my project. And also of course, cared about his name because his name is going to be attached to it. He doesn't want to put out something that

00:53:27.540 --> 00:53:57.220
Sounds like that. He's below his standards. I just read his list of credits. It's fucking huge. It's impressive. Huge. Go ahead, George. I was just going to say, so are you going to go back to him again? Or do you not want to suffer through that? Only with a project that is very important to me. Okay. So probably when I do the next Unearthed Elf record, only for something like that, where it's that deeply important to me, will I suffer through this madness.

00:53:57.600 --> 00:54:23.960
And I say that in a very loving way because the guy is really good at what he does and he takes his work very seriously. And he's one of the best in the business and just a great dude and awesome work ethic. And I'm really grateful for how he really put me through the ringer with that shit because it really helped me get better at what I do.

00:54:24.040 --> 00:54:53.500
And I definitely feel like I leveled up after all that experience. And, you know, growing in that way should be painful. If you're not suffering for your art, then what the fuck are you doing? You better suffer for it. You mentioned Unearthed Elf, which I love that first record. So I know that you're starting to work on it and that you said it was going to be a lot more serious. Yeah. Can you talk a little bit about what you're doing with that?

00:54:53.660 --> 00:55:23.500
Yeah, so I'm just in the beginning writing processes for that. I've got about three or four songs worth of music that are just in the embryonic stages for the next Un-Earth Elf album. I have a vision for it. I have an idea even of how I want the cover artwork to look and the packaging and how I want the vibe to be. The original Un-Earth Elf album was a serious metal record. It had some deep emotional moments in it, but it also had a little

00:55:23.520 --> 00:55:53.500
of silly humor into it. How seriously can you take a song title like Volcanic Gauntlets of Doom or whatever the fuck it was called? I don't even remember. But yeah, the new one, I'm going to bring some of the Arctic Sleep style emotion and the songwriting into it. And I'm just going to just gently bring a little bit of that project into the new Unearthed Elf record. I'm going to use it to tackle some of my own

00:55:53.540 --> 00:56:23.320
and my own inner demons and things that I deal with. It's going to be a painful and therapeutic record for me to make. Arctic Elf. Nice. It's going to hurt. It's going to hurt me, but I'm going to do it. It's interesting too, because that record means a little bit more to me because it was the, when you were on talking about it is the first Metalheads podcast I listened to, I think. Yeah. And that's when I found the Metalheads and Unearthed Elf at the same time. Oh, wow. And you.

00:56:24.120 --> 00:56:53.400
Damn. Yeah, we go way back, Keith. Yeah, yeah. George, I think that was on your, in my top 25, wasn't it? Oh, sure. I think it was. It was almost 10 years ago, wasn't it? Yeah, I remember, I think when. 2016? No, when I first started talking to Keith, was like Arbor's. Yeah, yeah, 2014. Yeah, yeah, so nine years ago. That's right, yeah, I think I was scouring the internet, you know, for like being, like, who do I,

00:56:53.540 --> 00:57:23.500
send my album to and I came across your stuff and it seemed like you really cared about what you do so I think I hit you up in the email and the rest is history here we are yeah look at how far we've come I know you're selling millions of records yes millions and we we were just featured on NPR is the biggest podcast in the world so yeah yeah yeah Keith and I were featured on NPR once yeah that's true you guys yeah all joking

00:57:23.780 --> 00:57:53.500
That was pretty cool. It was really cool. It was for the Arctic Sleep soundtrack for By the Horns. Yep. I have one last comment about Panda Kingdom. I'm sick of talking about it. I noted that... It's like, when is this going to end? Jesus. During the track Thy Feast, a number of foods were mentioned. Yeah. And I was surprised that toast was not among the delicacies, given your love of toast. However, I was then...

00:57:53.540 --> 00:58:23.500
Ben corrected as I flipped through the booklet and the last page not only mentions thy bread but much like a voracious comic has a recipe for thy bread and thy beer. I'm glad you managed to fit some some bread in there. Yeah yeah that that is a great bread recipe you have to special order that particular type of flour it's vital it's Irish corn.

00:58:23.540 --> 00:58:53.020
coarse grind flour. I just made a loaf this morning as a matter of fact. Yeah my wife saw that and was like I am making that. So yeah you definitely should it's like it's really easy you don't need to know a lot about bread making to make it it's more like making a pancake batter. Nice. Oh great and the beer which is that imperial stout in there I actually made a couple years back and that came out very well very nicely it came out very well.

00:58:53.540 --> 00:59:23.500
It doesn't make any sense. That's not proper use of the English language. What the fuck? Yeah, you don't like things to make sense. Come on. Jeez. All right. But yeah, you got a bread recipe in there. You got a beer recipe in there. Give them a try. They're both really great. Excellent. And wonderful and good. All right. You will enjoy them. You and I were also talking a little bit on Facebook about other things that you could be doing musically. And I said that I wanted to hear you do a Delta Blue

00:59:23.540 --> 00:59:52.940
with your deep voice. Yeah, yeah. And I really want to hear that. And that moved, reminded me of another album that I liked a lot last year. And I was curious if you've heard it. It's not Delta Blues, but it's more, I don't know what is it. It's like dark. Anyway, the album is called Jack Chrome in the Darkness Waltz. And it's by Russell Morris and Rick Springfield. Far out. And you're thinking like, what, Jesse's Girl? Yeah.

00:59:53.000 --> 01:00:22.200
This is not that. You should listen to this album. It's dark as fuck. And it's like ZZ Top meets like the Day of the Dead kind of music. It's fucking cool as shit. Good, because Jessie's Girl is that song. It's gross. The lyrics are, it's just, what the fuck's wrong with this guy? I know. Yeah, he's breaking the bro code. Totally. What a fucking asshole.

01:00:22.980 --> 01:00:52.780
Fuck Rick Springfield for going after Jesse's girl. I know. Who does he think he is? That's terrible. And then making a song about it, going public with it. It's like now everybody knows. Look, I'm a douche. Yeah, yeah. Look, I'm a douche is what it should be called. Yeah. Fuck that guy. But seriously, though, no, I have a massively wide array of music that I enjoy. I love Delta Blues. I love bluegrass. Yeah. And yeah, I'm really into Booker White and Robert Johnson and stuff.

01:00:54.020 --> 01:01:22.260
I hope you do something like that. And I thought I'd also challenge you and say that you ought to do a K-pop album. Maybe a little baby metal thrown in there. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, there might be a couple things holding me back from being able to pull that off properly. The most obvious of which is not being Korean. That's the challenge is you have to take the lyrics and put them into Google Translate. I was thinking you don't have the high pitch voice. Pitch shift that shit, man. I do enjoy.

01:01:22.420 --> 01:01:52.400
I do enjoy K-pop though. I love particularly like watching K-pop videos late at night. It's just total sensory overload. I think that's a really enjoyable genre of music and I would like to visit that country someday. It's on my bucket list. Yeah, for sure. So my question real quick, is there any plans for a Panda Kingdom crawl crossover at some point? I think that would be logistically difficult to

01:01:53.340 --> 01:02:22.400
And it would make such little sense that I believe it would cause the universe as we know it to implode. So you don't have any dental appointment schedules what you're saying? I don't know like what if you like dropped a tab of acid before before the nitrous. Yeah exactly. A little what's that the nitrous that they put in the cars to make them go faster a little bit of a little extra. Now you're thinking that might be a little bit

01:02:23.180 --> 01:02:52.080
It sounds like you guys probably don't know this. I'm a big porcupine tree fan, but before they became popular and they, Steve Wilson wrote a song called Voyage 34, which is about somebody taking acid their first trip ever. And there's all these samples that go with this kind of psychedelic music. And George, you made me think of that when you said drop acid and see where it goes from there. I was like, oh shit, that's Voyage 34. Cause apparently on the 34th time this person took acid, they got fucked up.

01:02:53.180 --> 01:03:22.120
You know anything about acid? Only the 34th time? Some people can take acid 100 times, never have a bad experience. Some people take it once and they're done. It was two for me. The second one, I was like, yeah, I'm done with this. Yeah. And so I've heard people say like, yeah, not venturing back there again. Nope. Not even going there. So my final question is this. Now, I don't know if you keep up with current events and gossip. I try not to. But.

01:03:22.400 --> 01:03:51.900
Were you aware that Butch Marino, lead singer of the band Fight School, recently called you out online and then he said that you do not stack the racks, that you in fact give up like a wuss? And in fact, he is challenging you to an ultimate fighting competition similar to the Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg thing. So my question to you is, would you accept that challenge? And I want to note that all proceeds would of course go to increasing the number of weights available to stack.

01:03:52.420 --> 01:04:21.740
So Butch Marino is a crazy motherfucker. I've worked with him a few times. I've released his band's music on my record label, dripfeedrecords.com. Check it out. And yeah, very strange character. The whole band is very weird. I don't exactly know where they're coming from. I can tell you that I practice nonviolence. I don't fight. I don't believe in that violence or war.

01:04:22.400 --> 01:04:51.920
is the solution to anything. Would you just stand there and let him throw a chair at you for charity? I would run away. I would run away. He's smaller than me, but crazier than me. And for that reason alone, I fear him a little bit. Good vocalist. The Fight School, his band, is currently on hiatus during the COVID pandemic and everything. They were upset because of COVID.

01:04:52.420 --> 01:05:19.760
and social distancing. There was no more fights. No more weight. Yeah. Their bass player, Connor, he tried to fight a statue. He broke his hand. It has been a long time just healing all those shattered digits. Yeah. You gotta admit, though, that Butch is a handsome man. Yeah. Good looking fellow. Yeah. I'd fuck him. Yeah.

01:05:24.920 --> 01:05:52.340
And we're complete for the night. Yeah. In talking to them, I mean, Keith, have you heard wind of any follow up to the EP? So have have you seen their version of the Yub Nub, the Ewok song from Star Wars? No. OK, so it's on YouTube. If you go on YouTube and just search fight school Yub Nub.

01:05:52.400 --> 01:06:21.380
Y-U-B space N-U-B. Once Connor's hand got healed up and he was able to play two notes, they went ahead and did a hardcore beatdown version of Yub Nub, which for those of you who aren't familiar with Return of the Jedi, there's this movie called Return of the Jedi. There's these little furry creatures called Ewoks, and at the end they have a celebration and they sing a song called Yub Nub.

01:06:22.420 --> 01:06:51.180
And it's a great song. It's very catchy. And I think it lends itself very well to having a hardcore cover of it. So I encourage you to check that out. It's real. It's on YouTube and it actually exists. It does. Just like the Panda Kingdom does. Everything is real. It's so real. Except Kroll. Yeah, yeah. It just freaks me out. I lay in bed at night thinking these thoughts about how everything exists.

01:06:51.600 --> 01:06:57.080
and everything's real and it can be overwhelming at times and that's why i drink

01:06:57.920 --> 01:07:06.940
yeah wow yeah nothing wrong making it unreal all right get that song out of my head

01:07:08.000 --> 01:07:08.860
it's just two lyrics

01:07:11.560 --> 01:07:18.500
it's funny because i have a uh i have a star wars calendar in my office and this month's calendar

01:07:18.520 --> 01:07:47.260
drawing. It's like Darth Vader and Son, I think it is. And it's like the various Star Wars characters in the Ewok village. And Princess Leia is surrounded by Ewoks looking down on Luke and Vader and everybody. And she's like, what's the password? And Luke is like, yub nub? My beer, and I just opened very much ties into all of this so far. Spooky.

01:07:48.220 --> 01:08:18.160
All right, if there are no further questions, we can go into T-shirt and beer check. T-shirt, beer check, T-shirt, beer check. Keith, what are you drinking? Oh, oh, thank you for asking. That's very kind of you. I ask everybody. Oh, then. I don't feel so special now. You're not fucking special at all, dude. I don't know why you would even get that impression. I don't want to be. I really, I love anonymity and not having anybody know who I am.

01:08:18.200 --> 01:08:48.000
I am or where I am or anything. Yeah. That's great. But since you asked very politely, which I appreciate, that's really nice. I do try to be polite. Yeah. Yeah. I think that's great. I think you have good manners and, uh, I, yeah, I, I enjoy being around you, but, um, yeah, to answer your question, which you asked very nicely and I appreciate that. So I'm drinking tonight. The Oktoberfest beers from Germany just started rolling in. It's not Oktoberfest quite yet.

01:08:48.220 --> 01:09:16.520
That happens in September. But I love German Oktoberfest beers. And the best one, in my humble opinion, is Eyinger. Nice. Tasty. So the Eyinger Oktoberfest, if you pour two bottles of it, it fills up one of these, which is a big 32-ounce glass here. And I think that's your second one so far? Yeah, yeah, it is. Yeah, I'll usually put away like three or four of them. And it's a very malty, biscuity-tasting beer.

01:09:18.220 --> 01:09:48.100
It's a little early for the fall season, but it's a good fall season. Yeah. Yeah. For the t-shirt, what do we got on here? Let's check it out. Hold on. I got to look at myself. Yeah. The Hemorrhage is one of my favorite grindcore bands. I really love them. They're from Spain and they, to me, sound like if old carcass never stopped sounding like old carcass, what they would sound like today. I think they do that whole thing really well.

01:09:48.220 --> 01:10:18.140
Great band, good aesthetic. And I really enjoy their music and their great logo and their artwork, which I forget. I think their guitar player does the drawings and everything. Yeah, cool. Really neat. Yeah, I like them. All right, Markisan, tie in. First, I'll say I'd finished a mead from Breminghorn called Gingersaurus, which is a honey apple pear lemon wine with ginger.

01:10:18.220 --> 01:10:46.860
You're aged in six months in oak barrels. So it's from the club. Nice. Finished that a little bit ago. And then I opened this and this is what ties in because we're talking about Star Wars and also because Keith has an album featuring anthropomorphic characters and it is called This Is The Way. And it looks like it's got some kind of otter creature on it. Looks like you could be in the panda kingdom. Totally. That's like the space version.

01:10:48.120 --> 01:11:17.020
Prairie Artisan Ales, which I quite enjoy their beers. It's a barrel-aged imperial stout with dark chocolate, creme-filled, what does that say? Cookies? Toasted coconut, toasted marshmallow flavor, and toasted almonds. It sounds really sweet, but it's actually very well balanced. Yes, and then for my shirt, I am wearing a Sarcoptes baseball tee.

01:11:17.160 --> 01:11:46.960
I'll show it to you. Very cool artwork. Yeah. And I love the Sarcopte's album Prayers to Oblivion. It was my number two record at mid-year and just really ambitious black metal with giant thrashy riffs and haunting orchestral key parts to it too. Was that our hotel room soundtrack song? Yes, it was. Yes. You and me, John. Yep. Yep. Yep. Post Tacos. Love it. I can't get enough of that record. So I can't get enough.

01:11:48.020 --> 01:12:17.120
I had tacos tonight. No, I said post tacos. Oh, yeah. That taco place was awesome. We found a taco place and then we went and drank beers and listened to music. I want to know what Jay is eating right now. What is that? What do you got? Burrito. Really? Okay. It's a vegetarian chicken sandwich. Oh, okay. How is it? Made from real vegetarian chicken? I came running in right before we started and this is me eating something quick. Did you make it?

01:12:17.920 --> 01:12:47.100
Yeah, I ran out and threw it. It's just like a chicken patty. Okay, cool. Sorry to interrupt. I'm a big food guy, so I had to ask. I was just talking to Heath about that. I was texting him because he's like, oh, I make the best burgers in the world and I also make the best pizza. You got to come out and see me. I was like, I do. I don't know if I hyped it up that much. You did. Keith's Tavern or whatever you called it. Now I have to live up to this. So we're trying to make a day where I can come visit him because I'm not that far.

01:12:47.700 --> 01:13:17.100
Really, they're just okay. You travel a lot for your job, right? Are you ever out in the Maryland, D.C., Virginia area? Because if you are, we need to hook up. Yeah, I'm actually doing a road trip soon where I'm going to West Virginia on purpose. What? Yeah. I lost all our listeners from there by now. I grew to like it. I met a cat there that I made friends with. This is going to sound weird, but I'm going back to West Virginia to introduce my wife.

01:13:17.180 --> 01:13:47.140
to a cat I made friends with when I was there. Where in West Virginia? Fuck, what was the name of the place? Harper's Ferry. Oh, dude, that's a half hour from here. Yeah, it's a half hour from here. You come to Harper's Ferry, you need to let me know. We will have beer. I will give you COVID. Yeah, I'm going there. Don't go to George's house. Come to mine. I'm going to go right now. Yeah, I'm sorry. I'm sorry to interrupt. I got to tell you this. I'm going from there. I'm going to New Jersey where I'm going to meet up with Craig Cirinelli, who does all my

01:13:47.180 --> 01:14:16.780
graphic design and has also collaborated with me on a bunch of stuff. Great singer. And then from there, I'm going up to Vermont to meet up with Jennifer Weiler, who did the cover art for Arctic Sleep. Yeah, that'll be, I think, our second or third time meeting up. So I'm going on like a little friend tour there. When are you going? So you've got to fit the boys in then? Yeah, come to New Jersey and meet up with me. So when are you going to be in Harper's Ferry? We'll get fucked up. Early.

01:14:17.160 --> 01:14:46.740
October, I want to say. I forget the exact dates. Hopefully none of us have COVID, right? Including myself. I'm traveling a lot too. Is that nearby you? It's a half hour from my house. Get out of here. It's only like 40 minutes from me. No shit? Okay, yeah. We'll make maybe a day to meet up and grab a... There's breweries on there. A beverage? A burger and a beer or whatever. Okay, cool. All right. Yeah.

01:14:47.140 --> 01:15:16.800
You're so close to there. Sorry to derail the whole conversation. What, this thing? It's always derailed. We're rarely on the tracks. On the tracks is a good day. I can't remember if I interrupted anybody or not. We've talked for an hour about gardening on the last episode. It was 50 minutes, all right? Killed and beetles and aphids. We all learned valuable information. It's true. I'll let you know the dates. We'll see if we can set some up. Perfect. Yeah, we'll get Will in there, too.

01:15:17.160 --> 01:15:19.320
All right, Matt.

01:15:20.060 --> 01:15:20.880
Give me a t-shirt.

01:15:21.200 --> 01:15:21.300
Yeah.

01:15:22.240 --> 01:15:25.200
Cal decapitation, one I've had since whatever tour that was.

01:15:25.500 --> 01:15:26.360
Then a little bit of goody.

01:15:27.020 --> 01:15:28.060
And then I am drinking.

01:15:28.400 --> 01:15:31.760
It is the Demon Boy from Anchorage.

01:15:32.480 --> 01:15:35.900
Really, I always love their beer and love their artwork.

01:15:36.520 --> 01:15:36.880
That artwork.

01:15:36.920 --> 01:15:38.660
I can't go wrong with our Anchorage.

01:15:39.160 --> 01:15:39.920
Anchorage is awesome.

01:15:40.520 --> 01:15:42.420
Yeah, one of the people that uses Big Dumb Face.

01:15:42.520 --> 01:15:44.440
I don't think this is one of theirs.

01:15:44.520 --> 01:15:46.000
What is the name of that brewery?

01:15:46.480 --> 01:15:46.860
Anchorage.

01:15:46.880 --> 01:16:16.800
They're in Alaska. Oh, okay. Yep. I didn't know there was anything other than Alaskan. They're amazing. They're really good. Oh, they're just gracious. Yeah. Oh, shit. Are they difficult to find? Yes. Tavor? Yeah. If you do Tavor, yeah. You can get their stuff on Tavor. Do you know what that is, Keith? No, but I said, yeah, like I did. It's an app. Basically, you sign up and they'll have beers on there that you can select. And then they put it in a cart.

01:16:16.860 --> 01:16:46.800
and they save it for a month and then they ship you the beers that you want. Yeah, it's an online beer vendor basically. Yeah, it's like a beer club. But they have like certain beers in there usually for a limited time because they'll sell out of them or whatever. So you have to jump on it. You ever do that though where like somebody says something you have no fucking clue what it is. All the time. But instead you respond like, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah. Most every day. Most people I don't like I answer that way. In reality you're like, I have no fucking clue what you just said.

01:16:46.900 --> 01:16:47.660
or anything.

01:16:48.910 --> 01:16:49.040
Yeah.

01:16:50.020 --> 01:16:50.580
All the time.

01:16:51.060 --> 01:16:52.040
All right, John.

01:16:52.980 --> 01:16:53.160
All right.

01:16:53.290 --> 01:16:56.500
So my shirt is not as morbid as the shirts I've seen so far.

01:16:56.550 --> 01:16:58.440
And I wore this Keith in honor of you.

01:16:58.470 --> 01:16:59.760
And maybe I wore it last time you were here.

01:16:59.760 --> 01:17:00.220
I can't remember.

01:17:00.610 --> 01:17:02.700
But I have my Devin Townsend Cats in Space.

01:17:02.940 --> 01:17:04.060
Oh, that's nice.

01:17:04.760 --> 01:17:05.720
From the Empath album.

01:17:06.260 --> 01:17:07.340
Anything with cats.

01:17:08.080 --> 01:17:09.360
As I get older, I just.

01:17:10.380 --> 01:17:12.520
Half of us are our cats fans on here.

01:17:12.860 --> 01:17:13.520
Actually, more than that.

01:17:13.560 --> 01:17:14.040
I'm with you.

01:17:14.280 --> 01:17:44.000
Well, on tap, John's been drinking like every single cat beer that's out there in the world. So quick sidebar. I had to choose what to drink tonight. What's that, George? I said quick. Oh, no. Yeah. Because Marcus, I mentioned me drinking all these cat beers. And I said to Jen, I said, I don't have any IPs to drink because you want to drink all of them with me. I said, do you want to have that other Mr. Kitty 4.0? She just looked at me. Didn't even say anything. Just looked at me. I was like, fuck. I got my answer right there.

01:17:44.300 --> 01:18:14.080
Anyway, I'm drinking, and Matt laughed, but... Darkness. 2023 from Surly. Now, I don't have all this toasted stuff in mind, like Marcasson's Imperial Stout. This is just barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout from Surly. Evil. But I'm drinking in my Bruce Bochy cup that was made famous at the last decibel because I didn't want to bring a glass.

01:18:14.300 --> 01:18:42.260
So I brought my Bruce Bochy, who's now the manager of the Texas Rangers, not the Giants. I'm still pissed. I'm still angry. Still mad he's not there. It's okay, John. Texas is playing the Giants right now, so I'm being a little bitch about this. Stop being a little bitch. Bruce and I are drinking together tonight. All right. Jay. All right, having finished my meal, this was my post-beach meal. I went to the beach today, and I wanted to get home so bad at 3, so I'd have an hour, but I got home at 3.58.

01:18:43.160 --> 01:19:13.120
which is just to say starting at 4 o'clock my time, so whatever. So I'm eating my meal, and I'll be getting my blue bottle iced coffee in just a minute. And I'm wearing the Witchcraft Legend t-shirt. Legends can be now and forever. I don't think I have anything to add to that. I'll pass it on to George. Hey, wait, hold on, Jay, quick question. Most important question, which beach? North Beach and Point Reyes. I always go to Point Reyes, dude, because it's just...

01:19:13.160 --> 01:19:42.880
Such a fucking long drive too though. I'm in Richmond, John. And so it really takes me about, I can do it in an hour. I was going to say, yeah. Okay. It was gorgeous out there today. Was it nice? It was one of those perfect days where you could see the fog off to the south. And he just left. It wasn't on our, it wasn't on the North beach and it was just gorgeous, dude. Beautiful day. Yeah. I haven't been outside this month. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

01:19:43.160 --> 01:20:12.220
Like isolating or? Yeah. I have to again. Yeah. So I'm riding the COVID train. Water for me. All right. I am wearing a new shirt though. And since I couldn't do anything special drink wise, I am wearing my extreme metal font shirt that says we've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty. So that's what that says. Yeah. Yeah. It's either that or the X imperatus.

01:20:12.420 --> 01:20:42.060
I was going to say, it looks like the Ex Imperitus thing because it's so long, but it actually says, we've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty. So that's that. All righty. Let's move on to the news. So not to make fun of Danzig, he just happens to be the dude in this story, but he postponed some shows due to tour bus shortage. I've never heard of this before.

01:20:42.420 --> 01:21:11.480
I've never heard of anybody having a problem getting a tour bus. Is this like a post-COVID, like everybody wants to get out on the road so there's no tour buses? I think I know the answer to this. Taylor Swift is on tour. Oh, right. She has them all. She's apparently playing in front of 8 million people right now. And she tipped her drivers 100K each. That's why there's no tour buses, because they're all driving for her right now. Wouldn't you reserve the tour bus ahead of time, though? You'd think. Tour manager's getting his ass kicked right about now.

01:21:12.440 --> 01:21:41.960
I'm going to see Danzig in Chicago on September 17th. Maybe. As long as it doesn't affect that show. That's all. He's on tour. Of course. Yeah. Who knows what's going to happen? Dude. My first concert ever was at the Aragon. Oh, really? Yeah. I haven't been there in a while. I haven't been there a while, but he's doing the tour. I haven't been there since 1993. Damn, that's a long-ass time. But he's three since, what, that's 30 years? Yep.

01:21:43.180 --> 01:22:12.140
He's playing that first Danzig album in its entirety. Oh, nice. Nice. None of that garbage stuff. Anything post-Dancing 4 is what I mean. Yeah. No, no. First album. So I'm really excited. I've never seen Danzig play ever. Got to get that in. Cool. Unfortunately, Will's not here for this next one, but Cannibal Corpse released a video for their new song, Summoned for Sacrifice. And I thought this was interesting.

01:22:12.480 --> 01:22:42.340
on several levels. First of all, I thought it was a great Cannibal Corp song per usual. But summoned for sacrifice, that's a lyrical shift for them. Because it's a little more on the satanic side of sacrificing somebody, you know, as opposed to usually it's just, hey, I'm going to kill you. I'm going to stab you with the knife and break up some glass. They may still butcher them after they summoned them. Did you guys watch the video? I could not believe how violent this video was.

01:22:42.420 --> 01:23:12.400
It's like, it's like, it's mostly the band playing, but it's an old bald dude in shackles getting hacked up by knives and a sacrifice. He grimaces a lot and won't die, even with all his guts spilling out. And then finally the killers like cut out his tongue. They cut off his face and rip out his heart. And his eyeball. Don't forget they pulled out his eyeball and popped it in their mouth. So it's cannibal corpse. Yeah. Yeah. This sounds like cannibal corpse in it. You know, they just never, their quality never really goes down, but it's a

01:23:12.420 --> 01:23:42.040
It's cannibal corpse. I like George's interpretation of it. Hey, I'm gonna kill you. Mario, my brother Luigi, is gonna hold you down while I cut you up a little. I'm gonna rip your face off and shove it up your ass. Look at your intestines on the floor. Linguini with the blood ink. It's a spicy meatball. I think listening to somebody read cannibal corpse lyrics in an Italian accent would be very satisfying.

01:23:48.760 --> 01:23:50.360
I masticate the bloody stump.

01:23:51.680 --> 01:23:53.220
What do we do with the body?

01:23:53.520 --> 01:23:55.620
Oh, man, I don't know why we got Italian.

01:23:56.540 --> 01:23:58.060
You really want pasta now?

01:23:58.630 --> 01:23:59.140
Oh, jeez.

01:23:59.730 --> 01:24:01.300
I take just about another minute.

01:24:01.300 --> 01:24:02.440
Big ravioli sounds good right now.

01:24:02.620 --> 01:24:03.160
Doesn't it?

01:24:03.260 --> 01:24:03.800
You're killing me.

01:24:04.460 --> 01:24:04.920
Oh, man.

01:24:04.960 --> 01:24:06.060
I'll take two servings, please.

01:24:06.240 --> 01:24:06.460
Thank you.

01:24:06.700 --> 01:24:07.580
Yeah, I'm pretty hungry.

01:24:07.780 --> 01:24:09.660
I've been drinking a long-ass time today.

01:24:10.240 --> 01:24:11.060
I don't know how I'm together.

01:24:11.480 --> 01:24:11.820
You're doing good.

01:24:11.840 --> 01:24:41.800
I should be sleeping. I should tie myself to this chair. You should. Or just lay down and just drag the boom stand with you. Just lay it on the floor. All my beers have been over 10% too and I've been drinking since 2.30. Somebody's going to be on band camp tonight. I got to tell you guys are a lot more boring when I'm not drinking. It reminds me of when Homer Simpson quit drinking and then he was watching a baseball game and it was like, I never realized a

01:24:43.740 --> 01:25:11.800
the ball boy is now walking over to get the bat. It was so funny. Yeah, that's awesome. We got a block party going on right now. And apparently there's going to be they're getting pizza from a place around the corner at nine. No, so we got to hurry up then. We'll just run out and grab a piece. Come back. Tracy. All right. So next up Krieg is releasing their first new album in nine years. It's called

01:25:12.900 --> 01:25:14.480
And the first song,

01:25:15.340 --> 01:25:17.280
Solitarily A Future Renounced,

01:25:17.640 --> 01:25:18.500
is streaming now.

01:25:19.780 --> 01:25:21.240
I've never been a huge Krieg fan,

01:25:21.500 --> 01:25:22.900
although I think Neil Jameson's cool.

01:25:23.460 --> 01:25:25.060
He writes some stuff for Decibel.

01:25:25.420 --> 01:25:27.060
But I did like this song quite a bit,

01:25:27.380 --> 01:25:28.680
so I'm looking forward to this.

01:25:28.960 --> 01:25:29.500
It's good.

01:25:30.540 --> 01:25:32.700
It's pretty solid, pure black metal,

01:25:32.880 --> 01:25:33.760
so if you dig that,

01:25:33.820 --> 01:25:34.860
I think you'd probably like this.

01:25:35.160 --> 01:25:35.300
Yeah.

01:25:35.860 --> 01:25:36.380
I'm like you, George.

01:25:36.460 --> 01:25:38.820
I never really got into much of Krieg's stuff.

01:25:40.400 --> 01:26:08.420
There's nothing real fancy about it, you know? It's just pretty old-school blackmail. It's just done well this time, I think. I've only heard one song, you know? But I'm like, show me more. And Decibel, as they should have, they put out a limited edition vinyl of the album, and it sold out pretty quick. I think they only had 90 copies, but still, that's pretty fast for Decibel. I'm still waiting for Decibel to come out with any kind of digital copy of the Venomous Concept album, particularly in flack. Can you just ask?

01:26:08.900 --> 01:26:37.320
to ask somebody there. They don't make it. They put out the vinyl record and then it's like on Spotify and that's it. Maybe it's on iTunes. I don't know. I asked James about it and he didn't really have an answer for me there. Damn it, James. Damn you, James. Anywho, sorry, John. I don't remember what I was going to say. All right, moving on. Next up, Escuela Grind is working or going to be working on a new album this fall.

01:26:38.920 --> 01:27:08.880
It didn't be news had we not seen them at Decibel back in the spring and been at least I was I fell in love and completely got blown away wait in the same sentence but they were amazing they were amazing they were and so I can't wait to hear more For me it was one of my most sought after sets of that weekend because I was watching so much footage and they definitely had been like a hot band at that point like a lot of buzz if you will Did it say who was producing because I feel like

01:27:08.920 --> 01:27:38.640
It's a good producer. And they had intimated they might be heading into more death metal instead of grindcore direction. Because some of the new stuff they played at Decibel was more death metal. And I think that would both are cool, but I would like to hear that.

01:27:39.600 --> 01:28:08.460
That would be preferable for me. Indeed. Indeed. And our last news item, John Bush has a new band featuring members of Exodus, Shadows, Fall, and an ex-machine head person. That's all I know. I didn't read the article. But, you know, just to be perfectly honest, and I'm not trying to pick on him, but they're all ex-members of those bands who you're like, who's that guy? So they were like somebody who was in the band for,

01:28:08.920 --> 01:28:37.699
some phase or another and not like a great not a bad phase but just anyway like john thompson from exodus and you're like who the fuck's john yeah i think it's jack gibson from exodus actually is it the bassist yeah phil demmel is like one of the main guys yeah okay phil's a big guy yeah john bush was actually an armored saint so i guess he's got a little bit of cred a little bit a little bit yeah until he got in that anthrax and then he sucked

01:28:38.220 --> 01:29:07.460
The drummer Jason Bittner's from Overkill and Shadows Fall. Yeah, he's a decent drummer. Yeah, they have 10 songs written and Bush has done seven of them. They haven't named the band yet. They said it's going to sound heavier. This is with a quote from Demo. Heavier than the early Van Halen and the early Pantera stuff. Upbeat, head-bobbing music.

01:29:07.720 --> 01:29:37.040
That's an interesting description. I thought he was going to say heavier than Machine Head. Nope. Yeah, it was weird. Heavier than the early Van Halen. Maybe there's some kind of behind-the-scenes joke about that. It was a weird thing to say, right, John? He doesn't want to dig on Machine Head, so I'll pick Van Halen. Heavier than early Van Halen and early Pantera. I would hope so. Pantera sounded like Van Halen. Yeah, I know. With the hair. Is it going to be metal? I don't know.

01:29:38.740 --> 01:29:41.540
And he only got a little heavy on those first four albums.

01:29:41.860 --> 01:29:42.160
That's true.

01:29:42.850 --> 01:29:43.840
But I love John Bush.

01:29:44.000 --> 01:29:46.320
That's when I saw this, I was like, oh, this is cool.

01:29:46.370 --> 01:29:47.500
I want to see what they're going to do.

01:29:47.640 --> 01:29:50.340
I'm curious, just have no clue what it's going to sound like.

01:29:50.370 --> 01:29:51.880
But it sounds like they're almost done with it.

01:29:52.380 --> 01:29:54.980
So we probably will hear something relatively soon.

01:29:55.700 --> 01:29:57.360
I always liked him because I like Armored Saint.

01:29:57.600 --> 01:30:00.100
And I always thought he was great live with Armored Saint.

01:30:00.340 --> 01:30:01.480
So I'll check it out.

01:30:01.540 --> 01:30:02.680
I liked him in Anthrax, too.

01:30:03.080 --> 01:30:04.080
Freaking Sound of White Noise.

01:30:04.450 --> 01:30:04.680
Love it.

01:30:06.800 --> 01:30:07.320
Not so much.

01:30:07.460 --> 01:30:08.500
They've got so much.

01:30:09.320 --> 01:30:10.480
Heavier than Van Halen.

01:30:11.040 --> 01:30:11.160
Yeah.

01:30:11.540 --> 01:30:13.040
And less members than Mushroom Head.

01:30:13.200 --> 01:30:14.120
So I think we have.

01:30:14.200 --> 01:30:14.600
I know.

01:30:14.620 --> 01:30:15.700
It's like random shit.

01:30:16.460 --> 01:30:17.300
And no masks.

01:30:17.900 --> 01:30:18.040
Yeah.

01:30:18.100 --> 01:30:20.500
I think they said it was more epic than Panda Kingdom too.

01:30:20.640 --> 01:30:21.080
I don't know.

01:30:21.380 --> 01:30:22.140
That's impossible.

01:30:22.920 --> 01:30:23.300
That's.

01:30:23.500 --> 01:30:24.500
We're talking shit now.

01:30:25.000 --> 01:30:26.360
What dentist are they going to?

01:30:26.520 --> 01:30:26.680
Jesus.

01:30:27.580 --> 01:30:29.680
We have giraffes in our band.

01:30:30.740 --> 01:30:31.220
Bastards.

01:30:32.140 --> 01:30:33.320
Look for the neck.

01:30:34.860 --> 01:31:03.420
That part will be played by Will. We go the extra inch. Sorry. All right, let's move on to new releases. First up is a band called Breaths. And the album is called

01:31:04.260 --> 01:31:07.360
I don't know I'm gonna let Markson take it from here it's album of the month

01:31:07.980 --> 01:31:12.320
florow it yep that's right yeah no it's my album of the month I think I talk about it less

01:31:13.040 --> 01:31:16.940
cast too actually but album of the month so that kind of tells you how I feel about it it's doom

01:31:17.120 --> 01:31:26.780
gazey black and post metal that's heavy and staggeringly beautiful all the way through and just one of the most

01:31:27.120 --> 01:31:32.680
emotional and and gorgeously crafted records I've heard this year it's been on pretty constant rotation for me

01:31:32.960 --> 01:32:02.400
What I haven't told you guys is the main guy who does it, he plays all the instruments on it is Jason Roberts. And apparently he's going to have a full band going forward. This is the last time he's going to do it himself. But he contacted me because I made it my album of the month. And I talked to him for a bit and he was a super cool guy. He has his hands in quite a few projects. He has another band called Roseneath that this it's a 90s rock style band in the vein of hum, which of course I that's right in my wheelhouse. He's done some ambient music.

01:32:02.460 --> 01:32:32.400
and he told me he's going to do a full-on Doom record as well, which I think would be phenomenal just based on what I heard from Breaths. So he said he would love to come on the cast as well. So we have another potential guest in the works there. So yeah, I love this record. I don't know if anybody else has listened to it. I listened to it a little bit. Yeah, I liked what I heard. Is it heavier than Van Halen or a little bit? Yes. It's got a little more atmosphere than Van Halen, I think. Okay. And the Antara. Yeah, it has a lot of heavy parts in it.

01:32:32.480 --> 01:33:02.260
But it's beautiful. It's got a lot of lush arrangements as well, too. But it does get vicious at times. And almost every song has a heaviness to it, which I like. I'd say it's long. Was that vicious or viscous? Vicious. Vicious. Okay. It's not as heavy as Mastodon. Good job, John. Early or later Mastodon. I'd say my python, probably. There you go. I'm going to record a little.

01:33:02.480 --> 01:33:32.440
In fact, maybe I can get Keith to do this. Keith, could you just say these words for me? Yeah, just inject it anywhere into podcasts. What do you got? Mastodon's Leviathan will no longer be featured on this podcast. Just say those words for me, please. Okay, here we go. Just give me a moment of silence for editing. Mastodon's Leviathan will no longer be featured on this podcast.

01:33:32.480 --> 01:33:33.040
This podcast.

01:33:34.880 --> 01:33:35.200
Thank you.

01:33:35.460 --> 01:33:35.640
Perfect.

01:33:35.940 --> 01:33:36.780
And so I'm guessing.

01:33:36.900 --> 01:33:37.520
I'm going to play that.

01:33:37.740 --> 01:33:38.900
You're going to just edit that in.

01:33:39.080 --> 01:33:39.540
That's fine.

01:33:39.720 --> 01:33:39.900
Yeah.

01:33:40.220 --> 01:33:40.500
Do that.

01:33:40.860 --> 01:33:44.820
You also liken it in a stereotypical offensive Italian.

01:33:45.400 --> 01:33:45.620
Ah.

01:33:47.060 --> 01:33:48.140
Mastodon's a leviathan.

01:33:49.040 --> 01:33:51.240
Don't want to be whales on this podcast.

01:33:52.280 --> 01:33:55.540
It looks like you're going to have to sign a contract with a remission at some point.

01:33:55.960 --> 01:34:00.080
If there's going to be any whales on this podcast, they're going to be from Gojira.

01:34:00.640 --> 01:34:00.720
Yeah.

01:34:00.860 --> 01:34:01.160
Exactly.

01:34:01.660 --> 01:34:30.680
My delivery was lazy, but if you needed a few other ways, I can give it a go. That's pretty good, actually. That's perfect. Everything out of your mouth is gold. I can make it a little more. Well, yeah, I mean, if you haven't listened to Breast, give it a listen, because I think it's just really great. And the more I listen to it, the more I love it. And obviously, it's already my album. I think you would like it, actually, Keith, because it has elements of the Arctic Sleep elements, and I really like it. It hits me emotionally, like Arctic Sleep, and that's what I... Oh, wow. Yep. Yep.

01:34:31.680 --> 01:35:01.040
Pestadon's Leviathan will no longer be featured on this podcast. Maybe something like that. A little perkier. All right. Next new release is the new Mutoid Man album, Mutants. It's their fourth album, and they're a New York stoner sludge band. And I have to admit, up until this album, I wasn't really a fan. I mean, I thought they were all right. But whatever it was, I listened to this album, and it clicked, and it was my album of the month.

01:35:01.660 --> 01:35:30.580
And I like went back and I kept been kind of binging on all of their stuff. So yay, Mutoid Man. You were right, Jay. You were right. Yeah, I like it too. The drumming is good. What's that? The drumming is good. Who plays drums on? I'll look it up because they are like all super solid musicians. And the bass player is the dude from I Am Fire. Yeah, I heard one of the songs off the album that you just mentioned on the radio recently here in Milwaukee.

01:35:31.660 --> 01:36:00.200
And I remember thinking the drumming style sounded familiar, like I recognized them from another band. Ben Collar with a K, K-O-L-L-E-R. He's in All Pigs Must Die. Okay. Converge, briefly. Oh, just briefly. Killer Be Killed. Oh, okay. That's a relative venue. It's with the Cavalera. Yep, that's right. That's just the only one album that came, like last year or the year before. Yeah.

01:36:01.640 --> 01:36:31.560
It's been longer than that. Yeah. During COVID. Right. So I like the Meatwad Man. I think it's the best one they've done in a couple records. The first one was my favorite one. And then they did okay from there. And this is their back on track to me. And they are just such a gifted bunch of dudes. They're all each individually stand out as musicians. And they're super fun. Oh, yeah. It's super fun. It's bouncy. It's fast paced with awesome breakdowns. And it's got lyrics like, I'm in love with my grave digger. And oh shit, what's this? And alcohol.

01:36:33.200 --> 01:37:00.700
The Gravedigger song was hilarious. It was so much fun. And it's only like 38 minutes or something, so it fucking goes by like that. Yeah. Good times indeed. All right, next up we have John's album of the month for July. Rannock? Rannock. Rannock. Rannock. That's how they said it on this Scottish travel YouTube channel I watch. Oh, it's got an OCH on the end. It's like one of those. Okay.

01:37:01.660 --> 01:37:31.620
Did you go to a travel channel to find out about the metal band? John? I was looking to see how it was pronounced because I didn't want to because I knew that it was from Scotland and some woman had her own little travel channel. Piss off those Scots, man. We're going out to Rannock. I was like, thank you. That's all I needed. Then I watched her show and it was cool. Nice. So this is their third album, Conflagrations. Yes, Conflagrations. They're a UK Prague

01:37:32.540 --> 01:38:01.620
And I did give this a bit of a listen as well. And I thought it was pretty cool. Yeah, this album is awesome. I love it. Yeah, yeah, it was my album of the month before I heard breaths. I think it's an absolute standout progressive death metal album. It's brutal. It's varied. It's got some lovely melodic sections. And that fucking last track is this fucking epic and it fucking stunner John and it captures how skilled and how creative

01:38:02.100 --> 01:38:03.160
this band is.

01:38:03.480 --> 01:38:04.940
And definitely it's a contender for me.

01:38:05.380 --> 01:38:05.920
I love it.

01:38:06.340 --> 01:38:06.500
Yeah.

01:38:06.750 --> 01:38:07.380
As a matter of fact,

01:38:07.550 --> 01:38:12.580
one of the band members and I had a few back and forth new music Friday.

01:38:13.190 --> 01:38:14.780
And I had made that comment about the song.

01:38:15.260 --> 01:38:15.800
And I said,

01:38:17.320 --> 01:38:20.720
that song alone is going to keep them high on my year end list.

01:38:21.290 --> 01:38:21.900
And true to form,

01:38:22.060 --> 01:38:22.280
they're like,

01:38:22.340 --> 01:38:24.040
there's a lot of good albums still coming out this year.

01:38:24.040 --> 01:38:24.400
And I'm like,

01:38:25.260 --> 01:38:25.820
it's true.

01:38:26.030 --> 01:38:26.160
Awesome.

01:38:26.360 --> 01:38:26.900
I love it.

01:38:27.080 --> 01:38:28.780
But not thinking about themselves and saying,

01:38:28.980 --> 01:38:29.160
Oh,

01:38:29.340 --> 01:38:29.640
well that's,

01:38:29.820 --> 01:38:30.260
he's just like,

01:38:30.340 --> 01:38:30.420
no,

01:38:30.480 --> 01:39:00.300
There's other good albums coming out. So that was cool. I like it when we mention bands on New Music Friday on Facebook and one band that's mentioned will say something cool about another band that's mentioned. It's, yeah, man, your album rules. Oh, yeah, so does yours. And it's like, that's cool. That's very cool. No, and I've been talking to a lot of people, usually on Instagram, actually, when we mentioned them, then they listen to the cast and they become fans of the cast, too. And then they, who wouldn't? We're the biggest cast in the world. Millions of listeners.

01:39:00.460 --> 01:39:30.280
Yeah, the Panda Kingdom album, it's going to sell another million copies just like as soon as this posts. Oh, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. I can't even get my mail without being hounded by people. I know. That's just the end of my driveway. Terrible. Yeah. Wow. So that's how many album of the months in a row there? Three? Yeah. Unfortunately, I didn't list Matt and Jay's because we already talked about Black Braid last episode. That's fine. It's all good, man. These are all good albums. All good albums.

01:39:30.460 --> 01:39:59.780
Last new release is the new Werewolves album, My Enemies Look and Sound Like Me. This is their fourth album in the last four days. I mean, four years. They are prolific right now. Not as prolific as Keith D. Not at all. But yeah, it's Australian death metal. And I may have mentioned this on a previous cast. I'm not sure. I listened to the promo and I was, eh, I don't know. But I listened to it again today. And it's still, it rips. It does.

01:39:59.920 --> 01:40:29.760
It's a little different than their other albums. Yeah. It's pretty straight up. Same stuff, but they did a few different things on this one, I thought. It's fair. I agree with George. I think they're great at delivering blistering, nonstop, aggressive death. So if it's your first time spinning them, you're going to love this. But for me, after four full records, it's kind of the same. They have to do a little bit different, but it's the same. It feels like, to me, the band is trapped beneath a never-ending full moon, and they're completely stuck.

01:40:29.920 --> 01:40:59.880
in frenzied wolf mode so to me the title of the record should really be my other albums look and sound like me so i'd love to see a bit more of a transformation next time add a little bit more like john said they do put a little bit more into it i'd like to see a little bit extra you mean like a cannibal corpse record or an overkill album cannibal corpse doesn't make my list a lot just because they kind of sound the same every single time not that it's not good every single time exactly they don't make my list

01:40:59.900 --> 01:41:29.320
because of that, I don't want werewolves to fall into that because I feel like they're good musicians. They could do more, but we're getting the same thing. And it's like you said, George, like it's coming out every year. You're getting something. So I'd like to see them do something varied, a little bit more varied. Yeah. I didn't want to say anything to Keith while he was here, but his stuff is so samey. Every time he puts out an album, it sounds exactly the same as the last one. Every project. Like a broken record, this guy. Fuck. It never. Oh, yeah.

01:41:30.040 --> 01:41:30.400
Yeah.

01:41:30.760 --> 01:41:32.000
He's a plain panda.

01:41:33.080 --> 01:41:35.060
I think if you guys feel that way about werewolves,

01:41:35.180 --> 01:41:39.800
they should probably then maybe do a little tumult and just take a slight break.

01:41:40.440 --> 01:41:40.820
Yeah.

01:41:41.680 --> 01:41:44.120
I hope you mentioned that in the last cast, actually, George,

01:41:44.180 --> 01:41:46.940
you're like, maybe you should take a break and reassess what they're doing.

01:41:47.260 --> 01:41:47.420
Yeah.

01:41:48.180 --> 01:41:49.360
Make me excited again.

01:41:49.480 --> 01:41:52.560
Just take a year off and make me excited that there's a new one.

01:41:52.920 --> 01:41:54.660
Make me want your werewolf stuff.

01:41:54.800 --> 01:41:57.520
I get excited every time they announce one because I've liked all of them.

01:41:58.800 --> 01:42:26.940
I just want to say I want a t-shirt that says make me want your werewolf stuff. Oh, isn't that the name of the next chopping mall album? I'm hoping the next chopping mall has like a Sasquatch involved somehow. I hope it has different cheese in it. Or maybe Mothman. I want some cryptozoology type stuff in there. There's otters. Oh, wait, you're working on another one already. Yeah, there's new chopping. It's in the works. Oh.

01:42:28.020 --> 01:42:56.500
And didn't you do a vinyl release of? It's gonna be a Kickstarter that's gonna be happening. Has it started yet? Because I can't afford it. Let me know when it's out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think I seem like Brian Corral of my own. Really? I'm not a fan. But I like that album. I like that album, though. I do. Oh, I thought you were talking about my record. No, I know. I was like, yeah, because it's Keith D. You're honest. You're not like it.

01:42:57.840 --> 01:43:27.060
There's a you suffer like song on there, isn't there? Yeah, ruined food. Yes, I love it. Absolutely love it. Can't get better than those song titles. No way. George, you remember when I sent you the video from when Opeth, when Mike did you suffer three times in a row? Yeah, three seconds long. I love playing that for people that aren't metal. Just fucking with them. Yeah, they actually played it three times and somebody I think on setlist FM put it on there three times on the setlist, which is fucking awesome.

01:43:27.840 --> 01:43:57.640
I think Napalm Death I haven't done it more than once when I saw it before. Maybe they always do that. Do they always do that? Because when I saw them on the, what was it? I can't remember what it was, but I saw them and they said, all right, you're getting that one again. You know what I mean? And it's just, it's funny. Did you miss it? Here it is again. I feel like Tom G does it every time, like Tripticon or Celtic Frost. Anytime he does it, I feel like he does that every show. It's such a short song that they may have played it and you didn't even. You didn't even know.

01:43:57.860 --> 01:44:27.660
They just slipped it into the middle of another song and made it a medley. All right. Let's move on to what we are listening to. We're going to start with Keith. Really? Oh, shit. Oh, shit. So if I can mention,

01:44:30.000 --> 01:44:57.820
I don't want to bore y'all to death but I know this is what we do here we bore people to death heavy metal podcast and everything but I haven't been listening to any heavy metal other than the stuff that I make but so I just want to show you this here I've got this record set called the Hawaii calls deluxe set mark is on what you know about that what you know about Hawaii man I lived there for two and a half years

01:44:57.860 --> 01:45:24.800
Is it all Hawaiian music? Yo, you bet your ass it is. Nice. So the people listening can't see this, what I'm showing to you, but this is a four-record set that I'm imagining came out in the 70s or the 60s. I can't find a date on it. Wow. It looks old. It looks like a fucking book. Yeah. And I don't know if you can see this, but this record jacket, like a fucking burlap sack. Yeah.

01:45:28.020 --> 01:45:57.380
It's like cardboard? Dude, it's wrapped in a burlap sack. Yeah. That sounds like a Cannibal Corpse song. Sorry. Yeah, that's not just a burlap sack. I love it. Yeah, that's not just like a print or anything. Listen to that. Hear that ASMR shit? Yeah. That's me scratching this burlap sack jacketed record. And it's four albums of just beautiful, haunting Hawaiian music. And every weekend,

01:45:58.060 --> 01:46:27.820
I turned my living room into a tiki lounge and I put on the Hawaiian shit and I just let this lull me to sleep this is an incredible record the Hawaii Calls deluxe set presented by Webley Edwards whoever the fuck that is awesome I love Hawaiian music me too me too I'm really very tranquil and peaceful I'm really into that that just whole tiki Hawaiian vibe and everything as well yeah I like a good tiki bar I do miss that about Hawaii

01:46:27.860 --> 01:46:57.820
So that's really great. Hawaiian music. Fucking bang your head to it. I found it on Discogs. Did you really? Yeah. It doesn't say when it came out. Oh my god. If you can find it for purchase, get it. They don't make records like this anymore. This thing is wrapped in a fucking burlap sack. Somebody made this by...

01:46:57.860 --> 01:47:27.520
Holy crap. Oh wait, that's Yen. Yeah. There's all this beautiful photography in here. There's like a book, like you can read about every album that you're listening to. And there, it's just incredible Hawaiian music. So yeah, you can get it for 20 bucks on vinyl on Discogs. So in short, it's the most heavy fucking brutal thing I've heard in my entire life. And my face melted to bits when I listened to this record.

01:47:27.860 --> 01:47:55.660
Aside from that, I've been spinning a lot of self-help tapes from the 80s. So actual self-help tapes. Self-help is something I need a lot of. And if nobody's helping you, you have to get self-help. Believe me, I know. Yeah. And in the 80s, there was all these cool self-help tapes. I grew up on a few of them that I've been listening. I've been spinning these self-help tapes.

01:47:57.860 --> 01:48:27.820
the youngster. And one of my favorite self-help gurus is this dude named Barry Konikov. He had a series of self-help tapes in the kind of mid to late 80s. And it's just really great. So he's got every topic you can imagine this Barry Konikov guy, everything from like self-confidence to helping with worry, anxiety, on to branching out into every weird bit of psychology.

01:48:27.840 --> 01:48:28.840
you can imagine.

01:48:29.080 --> 01:48:31.740
So I've been really enjoying the free from worry.

01:48:32.520 --> 01:48:32.860
Um,

01:48:33.640 --> 01:48:34.980
which is a great self-help tape.

01:48:36.120 --> 01:48:36.440
Um,

01:48:37.480 --> 01:48:39.020
I trust and let go.

01:48:39.540 --> 01:48:40.380
I let go and trust.

01:48:40.740 --> 01:48:40.900
Fuck.

01:48:41.100 --> 01:48:43.020
I mixed that around as backwards.

01:48:43.640 --> 01:48:44.580
I let go and trust.

01:48:45.260 --> 01:48:46.440
I trust and let go.

01:48:46.900 --> 01:48:47.060
Yeah.

01:48:47.320 --> 01:48:47.860
That's what I do.

01:48:48.000 --> 01:48:49.240
That's what I learned from that tape.

01:48:49.340 --> 01:48:51.560
And it's just great to go to sleep too.

01:48:51.820 --> 01:48:52.500
And man,

01:48:52.580 --> 01:48:55.640
it's the most brutal fucking heavy thing I ever heard.

01:48:56.400 --> 01:48:56.580
Yeah.

01:48:57.200 --> 01:48:57.320
Yeah.

01:48:57.340 --> 01:49:27.000
It makes obituary sound like John Tash, dude. Check it out. Nice. There you go, everybody. John Tash. Nice. Oh, my God. That's pulling something out of. Thank you. Wow. Thank you. Coming up next, the John Tash of death metal obituary. John Tardy Tash. Yeah, that was weird, but I'm a death metal on piano. There you go. Thank you, sir.

01:49:27.320 --> 01:49:57.040
Yeah. And you're welcome. All the Hawaii makes me just think about Maui and Lahaina because all the fires in the death toll keeps going up. And I was just there. It's heartbreaking. It really is. I was just there a couple of months ago to visit. We didn't, that's not where we live. We live in Honolulu, but we also went to Maui and we went back and Tracy knows some people there who that she's worked with. They're fine, but a lot of people aren't. A lot of people jump in the ocean, dude. Freaking. Where do you go? So yeah.

01:49:57.160 --> 01:50:26.720
It breaks my heart because Hawaii is like always now a part of me just because I was there for two and a half years. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So it's me, right? Are you done, Keith? You got more shit. Yeah. Yeah. Now that we're over this huge fucking buzzkill. I'm just kidding. Yeah. So what am I listening to? Okay. The first thing I have on here is Celestial, Broken Vows and The Unspoken Truth. It just came out a couple of days ago. Most albums come on Bandcamp.

01:50:27.180 --> 01:50:57.140
Friday. I call it Bandcamp Friday because, man, it usually is. But it came out a couple days before that. But it's really excellent. Progressive death metal. It's a debut album by a band from Indonesia. It also features some fantastic guest vocals on a few tracks from the dawn of Ouroboros singer Chelsea Murphy. She's been some other bands as well. I really like that one a lot. The Mosaic Window, Plight of Acceptance on Willowtip Records. Great record. Just really

01:50:57.180 --> 01:51:27.120
dynamic, atmospheric, black metal. Has a bit of progressive thrash, black and death elements thrown in there. It's really heavy, versatile, excellent guitar work, and has a lot of turns in it. This really keeps it interesting all the way through, I think. So I found this one a little bit late, so it probably flies a little bit under the radar. Really like that one. Witching Vernal on the self-release. So Witching announced a new album called Incendiary.

01:51:28.080 --> 01:51:56.440
And they debuted a pretty blistering new single for it. And that record's coming out October 27th from Translation Loss. But when I heard the news, I had to go back and spin the first album. And I love this band, but I owe my love for this band to Vinyl Altar in Philadelphia. I always stop at Vinyl Altar when I'm in Philly. I think the last one, I don't think we all went to the last time. I don't think we all went, but I did.

01:51:56.460 --> 01:52:25.020
because they stayed a little extra. So I always stop there. And when I'm in there, I always ask them what local metal bands are around that I should be listening to. And that's how I first heard about witching. And they played vernal for me in the store. And I bought the CD because the vinyl was sold out. The band plays this kind of a thrashy black and death doom with growled vocals. But the singer also drops these really awesome goth vocals.

01:52:26.040 --> 01:52:28.060
sometimes in the songs,

01:52:28.730 --> 01:52:31.560
which gives their music a bit of a different feel to it.

01:52:32.160 --> 01:52:33.720
And the first track from the new album,

01:52:34.000 --> 01:52:35.260
Insinium is really good.

01:52:35.580 --> 01:52:37.400
I didn't know that they were going to be putting on an album.

01:52:37.580 --> 01:52:40.360
It's just another thing to add to the end of the year.

01:52:41.180 --> 01:52:42.860
We've got so many great albums coming.

01:52:42.980 --> 01:52:43.300
It's overwhelming.

01:52:44.740 --> 01:52:45.600
And speaking of that,

01:52:46.100 --> 01:52:49.360
I've got a bunch of promos and one of them I got was Tideless,

01:52:49.570 --> 01:52:50.180
Eye of Water.

01:52:50.470 --> 01:52:52.800
I sent it to everybody on Chaos Records.

01:52:53.010 --> 01:52:55.040
This album comes out September 15th.

01:52:55.920 --> 01:53:25.540
But like I said, we got the promo and the write-up they sent calls the album a rippling, incandescent landscape of majestic, triumphant, shoegazing grief of death, which is awesome. And I really like this record. I just spotted, I think maybe yesterday, a little bit today, before I went to the block party. And it's always fun to get a promo of an album you don't know anything about. You don't know anything about the band.

01:53:25.920 --> 01:53:55.880
And then it completely catches your ear. And that's this album for me, Tideless Eye of Water. And then the last thing I have on my list is a band called Holy Fawn. So apparently my listening habits this month are submerged in a deep shoegazy hole. Because I've mentioned a few other bands, shoegaze is part of the music. This band I found because there was a feature I came across online called 11 Great

01:53:55.920 --> 01:54:24.560
shoegaze bands for metalheads. And I believe it was at Revolver, their website. So one of the bands they recommended was Holy Fawn. And I listened to two of their albums called Dimensional Bleed and Death Spells. And I love them. And their music kind of slips in between the cracks of post-metal, shoegaze, electronic, alt-metal, rock. Really great stuff.

01:54:24.680 --> 01:54:54.660
I've never heard of them before but I've always loved shoegaze and I really like it when it's combined with metal. Breaths is another one they have the elements of that in that album so I don't know what it is this month but I've been digging the shoegazy metal so there you go. Hey Matt. Nice. Okay my first one the album is wordless worldless and the band is the sun's journey through the night I would describe this as black metal

01:54:54.680 --> 01:55:24.580
with some sludge and some atmosphere and a little bit of doom. Pretty solid. I also am a witching fan. Incendium, the track off of the album with the same name. Mark Sandius, however, is coming out. Strangely enough, though, this one I call more intense sludge metal with some fuzz. But yeah, they're definitely, they always put something solid out. The Runeir from Craig is the album. Solidarity Future Announced. Really digging that. I'm not a huge Craig person in terms of following them.

01:55:24.680 --> 01:55:54.200
But I will say that I'm familiar with things like the Black House. And I clearly, I read Neil's column every month when Dust Bowl comes out. It's one of the things that I'm always there to read it. So it's fun to hear some new stuff out of him. I also, I like Lars from NPR. He has, I don't know if it's weekly or every other week. And I don't know if he still calls it Viking's Choice, but he kicks out like a blog. He does. And he has a playlist with it. And I like it because there's a lot of weird, cool stuff on it, but there's also metal on it.

01:55:54.840 --> 01:56:24.000
And he has good taste across the board, but I really dug this track and I went to check out the band on Bandcamp and there my friend Markisan's face is in there as having purchased the band is anti-God hand. They've been on my list before actually. I was going to say, after I read that, I was like, I love that band. It is, like it's clearly to me it's black metal, but there's definitely some hints of prog in there that make it stand out so much. It is so good. Definitely check it out. It was super high on my list.

01:56:24.660 --> 01:56:26.140
Was it last year or the year before?

01:56:27.140 --> 01:56:28.240
But Lars, I love.

01:56:28.310 --> 01:56:31.060
So Lars is the one who we talked about this earlier.

01:56:31.980 --> 01:56:36.820
Keith D, when he did the Arctic Sleep soundtrack, Lars is the one that talked about it on NPR.

01:56:36.820 --> 01:56:37.060
Oh, yeah.

01:56:37.580 --> 01:56:39.520
And so he's friended me on there.

01:56:39.820 --> 01:56:40.840
And yeah, he's cool.

01:56:41.020 --> 01:56:41.500
He's a cool guy.

01:56:41.940 --> 01:56:45.440
And he contributed to the By the Horns Kickstarter as well.

01:56:45.580 --> 01:56:46.760
So shout out to you, Lars.

01:56:46.900 --> 01:56:47.220
You're awesome.

01:56:47.400 --> 01:56:47.640
Nice.

01:56:48.190 --> 01:56:48.300
Yeah.

01:56:48.920 --> 01:56:51.020
I've been following him for years.

01:56:51.520 --> 01:56:54.200
He's a good writer, but he also has just good taste in music.

01:56:54.600 --> 01:57:00.040
He likes Arctic Sleep, so he's cool in my book.

01:57:01.060 --> 01:57:20.900
But I'm really happy you're getting into Anti-God Hand, because I had it really high on my list when the last album came out, and they dropped quite a few things, but there was only one that was like a full length. And they've got the new album coming out, and I'm really excited about it, because there's just something about that band that it is black metal, but it's different than anything I've heard before.

01:57:21.080 --> 01:57:51.060
I spent some time listening to the two tracks today to figure out what is that other piece of it and all I can really say to me right now is Prague which is probably a blanket term for what it is but I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the whole album when it comes out. Cool. My next one the band is Black Sorcery the album is called Deciphering Torment Through Meddiction I would call it more stripped down traditional black metal that really I don't know hit me in a good spot. Next the band is Blood Lightning the album is

01:57:51.060 --> 01:58:21.040
Blood Lightning. It's not out yet, but they have a track out called Blankets. It's basically straight up heavy metal with some stoner vibes. As we've chatted a little bit in our chat, Wayfarer dropped their new track, False Constellation from their upcoming album American Gothic. I really dig this track. I wouldn't say it's my favorite Wayfarer track, but it's enough to keep me satisfied and super interested in the new album coming out. And then I had two albums in my band camp Wish Slush. One was by a band called

01:58:21.060 --> 01:58:51.040
called Yawning Man, and the other one was called Yawning, I would say Balk, B-A-L-C-H, but really what it is is there's a band called Yawning Man, and they did an album with Bob Balk, B-A-L-C-H again, and it's basically spacey instrumental desert rock. Bob is from the band Fu Manchu, if anybody's heard of them, but it's just some good instrumental stuff to throw on if you want to chill out and focus on something. The other thing I'd say is last weekend was Valken, and as I am the person on this

01:58:53.120 --> 01:59:21.040
I spent the weekend listening to basically, I mean, they professionally filmed the whole thing, but they only release, you know, a percentage of those sets to watch that saw some good stuff from even, you know, immolation, dying fetus above. So if you're bored, go check it out. I should have put that on the news list because, oh yeah, the whole mud thing, like they, they were telling people not to

01:59:21.080 --> 01:59:50.760
up because there was so much mud. I'm like, it's Wachen. Of course you're in three feet of mud. Yeah. As bad as it was when we were there, how much worse does it have to be for you to tell people not to come? Like we were saying with Neutrino, it was like, the photos look like mud, but it didn't look apocalyptic. Like they weren't making it seem. So I don't know what it was about, but it was interesting. It made CNN that German music metal festival had to turn people away or whatever.

01:59:51.880 --> 02:00:20.340
Anywho. All right. Easy. John. All right. I just got a few things here. All recent stuff. So first one is band called Earn a Feast on Sorrow. They're a prog metal band out of England. It's their second album. I've been waiting for this to come out just because there's like a big wave on the cover. So I was like, this is cool, I guess. I like waves. I grew up on the beach. But it's a good album of prog metal.

02:00:20.400 --> 02:00:49.940
that's got some post-hardcore into it. I like the riffs. It's got some catchy stuff on. It's got a dark vibe. The subject matter is pretty dark, you know, about sorrow and loss. But it's a cool release. And Angry Metal Guy only gave it a 3.0. It must be brilliant. Yeah. I don't know why I'm pointing that out because I really don't read Angry Metal Guy. I only look for the album titles to see what comes out. I love that record. Yeah. It's cool. It's ridiculous for that record.

02:00:50.400 --> 02:01:19.260
Very good. Yeah. Somebody point, I guess they didn't like the production on it. And that's a good reason to not like it. The funny thing is, is it was done in the guy from Gojira's studio in Brooklyn. And he, I guess, was part of the production. And I'm like, yeah, I'm going to go with the guy from Gojira over the guy from Angry Metal Guy. Just me, whatever. We mentioned Rannock. I love that. I'm still listening to it a lot. And since you put it on the new releases, George, I figured I'd just add it to my what we're listening to.

02:01:19.340 --> 02:01:49.320
Since I'm still listening to it. Cool. A band I just picked up on yesterday actually. Never heard of them before. Band called Flight. Echoes of Journeys Past. It's a hard rock, proto-metal, prog rock, all mixed together. New wave of trad, whatever. Band from Norway, it's their third album. It's really a solid mix of all those kind of sub-genres of rock and metal. If you like that stuff, if you're into this new

02:01:49.360 --> 02:02:19.040
kind of retro trad, quote unquote, X, whatever the subgenre is that's coming up. There's a lot of like kind of 80s doom bands that are making their way now to some of these new newer bands are emulating some of that stuff. It's cool. It's got a 70s vibe to it. It's not ripping anyone off per se. It's paying homage to those those bands. So it's good. Listen to a lot of song drops for a lot of albums that are coming out in the next few weeks. I'll just.

02:02:19.340 --> 02:02:26.800
name a few here we might know some of these bands are like some of them horrendous bluedos nord godthrum

02:02:27.340 --> 02:02:32.340
and a new song dropped from becker quillish i've been digging all that stuff right now

02:02:32.940 --> 02:02:38.060
doesn't horrendous come out like next week next weekend is horrendous the next two next two weekends

02:02:38.300 --> 02:02:44.940
is horrendous blue saw bluedos nord and godthrum so i'm like fuck and then i've been listening to a ton of

02:02:44.960 --> 02:03:14.200
Fates Warning recently. Yeah. Especially the post-2000 stuff. The main reason for me listening to it coming out is because you can see it over my shoulder. Disconnected and Fates Warning X or FWX were finally released on vinyl after 20 plus years. And I now have all the Fates Warning studio albums on vinyl. So I was very happy to get those. Congratulations, John. Always nice to... When you're a fan of a band and Fates is one of my favorite bands.

02:03:14.960 --> 02:03:42.740
Whatever you're a fan, you always like to get everything in any format that you collect them in. This book is so good. Right, dude? So fuck. And Jeff Wagner's, he's only written three books. He wrote a book called Mean Deviation, which is about the history of prog metal. And I was just like, oh, man, I needed to get off the Cialis because I was that excited. And then he wrote a book about typo negative.

02:03:44.940 --> 02:04:13.800
Then he wrote the Fates Warning book. Yeah, and for people who don't know, it's called Destination Onward. It's so good. The Fates Warning basically tells their whole. The whole history, everything. Get it if you like Fates Warning, for sure. Full access to every member that's ever played for the band. He also used to, did he write? He was the editor of Metal Maniacs, I think. Oh, okay. Yeah. Used to read that back in the day. So he knows his shit. He's good. That's it. All right, Jay.

02:04:14.960 --> 02:04:16.960
I probably just need people to trust that I

02:04:18.620 --> 02:04:20.340
the totality of my walls are

02:04:21.000 --> 02:04:24.140
covered with heavy metal and that means it's always cycling around with me

02:04:24.760 --> 02:04:28.000
yeah whenever we seem to get to what are we listening to I tend to focus in

02:04:28.440 --> 02:04:31.660
on something very non-metal and that's what's going on with me these days

02:04:32.180 --> 02:04:36.260
but I can't I'm stuck in David Bowie land right now and I just can't get out of it so

02:04:36.400 --> 02:04:38.980
and it's just like really all I'm listening to I've got

02:04:39.340 --> 02:04:40.360
stuck in the lab and say

02:04:40.880 --> 02:04:42.060
Yeah, you know.

02:04:43.540 --> 02:04:46.920
And I screwed up because of these two documentaries I watched recently.

02:04:47.060 --> 02:04:48.680
And I've always been a boy fan.

02:04:48.840 --> 02:04:56.220
But this was one of the first things that really pushed me down into the complete deep dive where it's, okay, I guess I'm going to have to buy every fucking thing.

02:04:57.220 --> 02:04:57.580
I don't know.

02:04:58.580 --> 02:04:59.400
Why haven't you?

02:04:59.640 --> 02:05:01.960
He's actually difficult for me to listen to in some way.

02:05:02.020 --> 02:05:08.300
I don't know if there's anybody else that's ever as personal as he can be with his material.

02:05:08.520 --> 02:05:09.640
And it's just fucked up.

02:05:09.720 --> 02:05:39.500
But anyway, so I'm stuck in David Bowie land. Do you like Labyrinth? I do. I love it. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, but I went to the movies to see it when it came out. I did a cover of Magic Dance. Did you do Magic Dance? Yeah, it's on YouTube if you want to check. Okay, cool. It's under the name Keith D and the Imaginary Friends. So Jay, real quick, any particular albums of Santa? Is Bowie like Face Warning is a top 10 band artist for me? So what albums?

02:05:39.700 --> 02:05:40.620
in particular are my favorite.

02:05:41.140 --> 02:05:43.860
No, that you've been listening to the most recently.

02:05:44.100 --> 02:05:51.180
It's funny because what I'm getting into is some of this weird stuff that people turn their noses up at because I've done the hunky-dory and the, you know,

02:05:52.160 --> 02:05:55.300
Dug and Dogs and all that stuff, which all makes sense and you need to have it.

02:05:55.300 --> 02:05:58.540
But Let's Dance is a way better record than I gave it credit for being.

02:05:58.540 --> 02:05:59.960
Agree 100%.

02:06:00.140 --> 02:06:05.440
Not only that, but it's also a more tongue-in-cheek artistic attempt to be this pop star guy and stuff.

02:06:05.760 --> 02:06:33.020
So it's more like sticking my hands and stuff like that. And, you know, and heroes and just some of the ones I didn't always spin all that much. And probably the biggest surprise to me is Let's Dance because it's the plastic one, but it's not because it's him. And you don't realize that from a distance. And also Blackstar, I'm listening to a whole lot. Yeah. But, and then I also just cycle through everything else. Of the older stuff, I didn't used to live and listen to Aladdin Sane as much as I'm listening to that now.

02:06:33.800 --> 02:07:02.540
I was just more, I don't know why, but it wasn't that it was a bad record. It was just, I was really stuck. I actually like that more than Ziggy Stardust because those are kind of companion albums. So I'll, I'll, I'll break off here now and just to stop talking about David Boat, but I will say one thing. And it's that the Ziggy Stardust movie set, you know, documented by D.A. Pennebaker who did the Bob Dylan Don't Look Back thing. You remember where that's filmed, John? It's at Hammersmith, isn't it? Everything happens at Hammersmith.

02:07:02.540 --> 02:07:31.960
Yeah, that's one of my favorite live things. That live show's awesome. Yeah, it's really good. And that was his last show ever. Did you know that? From that tour, yeah. No, he announced he was retiring. Oh, he announced it. Yeah, like, so long, sucker. Psych! 30 albums later. But bless him, man. I mean, he's... He basically fired the band on stage, though. What's that? Oh, no, I think some of them still play with him a little bit after that. No, it was he was retiring the Ziggy Stardust character. Right.

02:07:32.560 --> 02:08:02.240
Yeah, I'm actually reading a book called Bowie, the biography. Yeah, I have that, yeah. And it said that the band didn't know that he was going to do this, and that they were like, uh... What? I don't think he knew. I don't think he knew, to be honest. Yeah, I agree. That show is raw. Yeah. I think I like Santa Monica 72 better than that one. Is that on video, or is it just a recording? It's audio. If you need it, just let me know. I'll rip it for you. It's so fucking good.

02:08:02.560 --> 02:08:31.500
But his version of White Light, White Heat from Velvet Underground off of Ziggy Astartes is just so good. It's so brutally raw. And they're fucking up so much on the song. That makes it even better. It's wonderful. So the other thing, too, though, is I would recommend anybody who wants to stick their hands in to check out, in particular, the two documentaries I watched recently. One is Moon Age Daydream, which covers the totality of his career. And the other one is called The Last Five Years. Yeah, which is good.

02:08:31.540 --> 02:09:00.500
which covers the last five years of his artistic output. He's a fucking smart fucking guy, man. So, yeah, and an artist. So, that's it. Not To Waste Everybody's Time. Hold on one second, Jay. What are your thoughts on the new Dockin' song since you're the biggest Dockin' fan? First off, I only discovered that I like them. You know what? Obviously, that's that. What's good about that band exists in those moments when him and George Lynch were young and doing things together.

02:09:01.560 --> 02:09:31.100
And they hadn't killed each other for the 14th time that year. Yeah. So I'm never going to go to the wall for that band or anybody in it. But I will just say that I didn't understand the excitement that was on those. You know what they really are, John, those first four records. They're Y&T records. Yeah. The only difference is I think Dave Manchetti is a much better singer, but that's just me. Oh, no, no, for sure. For sure. But the song structure is the same. They're similar in their rise. Their approach. Both those bands get lumped in with some of those hair bands and they were just good hard rock bands. Totally.

02:09:31.540 --> 02:10:00.380
And I fell for that. And that's what was cool to find. That wasn't the case, but no, I could care less about the new one. George Lynch is a fabulous player. I just think he's kind of a dude. Well, I think all those guys are douches. Yeah. Anybody named George, really? No, I don't think I understood how good a guitar player. He's a great guitar player. Did he get, he got just, I'm sorry not to deviate anymore, but didn't he get a tryout for Ozzy too?

02:10:01.540 --> 02:10:31.440
I feel like he was in that group. All right. Well, he was one of the him. He was early. I sworn he was, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I don't want to derail it any further. Yeah. I'll pass it on to you, George, but I, that's just, that's my obsession of the moment. And so that's where I'm at right now. Alrighty. Send me the name of the book, George. I would be interested in reading that book. It's just, it's called Bowie the biography and it is by Wendy Lay, L E I G H. Thanks.

02:10:31.540 --> 02:11:01.000
And you're enjoying it, I think. Yeah. Yeah. It's a bit on the saucier side of Bowie, which made me go, ooh. And yeah, there's a lot of raunch in it. So. There was a lot of raunch in him, so fair enough. Yeah. Considering what they say he was packing, it's no surprise. Did you ever see the man who fell to earth? Yeah, John, if you could box it. I'll get it to you this weekend. Yeah. Anywho, enough about David Bowie. I'm going to talk about some other things that aren't metal. Perfect.

02:11:01.560 --> 02:11:30.880
I do have a few metal things in here, but because there is this other podcast that John and I do, a couple things I had to listen to for homework. First up is the concrete blonde album, Bloodletting. Their third album came out in 1990. Brilliant fucking album as far as I'm concerned. Not metal, but it's a punk, gothic, alternative Hollywood thing. And I fucking love that album so much.

02:11:31.560 --> 02:12:01.500
Then I have Peter Gabriel's third album Melt, which keeps making faces. Huge Peter Gabriel fan. Yeah, I'm going to see him next month. Fuck, awesome. And yeah. These are all on my playlist too, by the way. I just didn't know we were saying this. Yeah, I didn't have much else to put on there when I started it. So I was like, oh, this is what I'm listening to. Melt is awesome. Yeah, it's got one of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs, Games Without Frontiers, on.

02:12:02.320 --> 02:12:06.480
And then previously mentioned ban, fate's warning, theories of flight.

02:12:08.280 --> 02:12:10.200
This is a TR pick for our next episode.

02:12:10.590 --> 02:12:13.640
I had not listened to this one before because I'm more of a John Arch fan.

02:12:14.960 --> 02:12:15.940
Don't tell TR this.

02:12:16.040 --> 02:12:18.460
Luckily, this probably won't post until then, but I actually really liked it.

02:12:19.470 --> 02:12:21.240
But I am going to bust his balls hard.

02:12:21.820 --> 02:12:25.860
Before you go any further, this is my number one from 2016.

02:12:26.760 --> 02:12:30.200
I went back and forth between this and the RNC Pazuzu album.

02:12:30.300 --> 02:13:00.180
And I remember, this is what I knew, Jay really liked me a lot. When I was mentioning Fate's Morning, he interrupted me during my number one pick and says, look, I don't care about Fate's Morning, I want to say this. And it was my number one pick and I was just like. And I just looked and everyone just laughed at me. They're all going to laugh at you. And I never forgot it because it was just a beautiful moment. I'm back on it fondly now. He's like, I don't give a shit about your number one pick. I just have to say this real quick.

02:13:03.400 --> 02:13:28.280
That sounds like somebody I would not want to hang out with. And I think two seconds later, I may have trashed Glory Hammer during that episode by accident. I paid for it later on. And the whole clutch thing started during that episode. So it was an amazing, amazing afternoon for me. It really was. It was beautiful. I won't say anything, George, but I'm happy to hear that. Yeah.

02:13:29.580 --> 02:13:59.360
And next up, I have a band called Homefront. And their first album, Games of Power, their Canadian post-punk band. Justin turned me on to this one. And I dug it, so I bought it. And it's cool. Now, moving on into the slightly more metal direction. I think I might be going into a stoner doom phase. Oh. Because... Can I say, though, George, that there's something happening in that genre right now?

02:13:59.580 --> 02:14:28.680
There's a bunch of cool shit coming out, so that's not too weird that that's true. I've run into quite a few new Stoner Doom things that have got me excited about that genre this year more than I have been for a while. It's really nice because it was kind of a shitty, for me, I like early stuff, but the few years were just boring. I don't know what happened, but there's some cool stuff. Anyway, please continue. I think it's kicked off with the King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard thing, which isn't exactly Stoner Doom, but you know.

02:14:30.960 --> 02:14:59.040
But it pushed me in the right direction. And I've been listening to Green Long. I saw that. Yeah. Yeah. I picked up their first album, Woodland Rites, second album, Black Harvest. And there's a new song from their new album coming out in November. The album's called This Heathen Land. And I really dug that new song. I just sort of worked backward from that. Pretty cool stuff. Before you go on, check out this band called Restless Spirit.

02:14:59.580 --> 02:15:28.660
So their last album came out a couple years ago and it was really good and they have a new album coming out this year and it is Stoner Doom. If you're on that kick, I really like, I really dig that band. The last album, the new one sounds pretty good. The first song or two that I've heard from it. Cool. I'll look it up. So then there's a new Dope Lord song from their forthcoming album called Songs for Satan. If Will were here, he would put up a cheer. I know he likes them. And yeah, I thought that was a really cool song as well.

02:15:29.260 --> 02:15:31.720
And just because of association,

02:15:31.980 --> 02:15:34.880
I ended up on Caius's blues for the red sun as well.

02:15:36.040 --> 02:15:42.180
If you're looking to venture and you want a little more metallic stoner metal,

02:15:42.820 --> 02:15:44.800
the first four albums,

02:15:44.860 --> 02:15:46.440
I think spice is a singer.

02:15:46.680 --> 02:15:49.120
The spiritual beggar albums are fucking awesome.

02:15:49.720 --> 02:15:49.820
Yeah.

02:15:50.300 --> 02:15:52.500
Ad Astra is just so fucking good.

02:15:52.500 --> 02:15:54.800
And mantra mantra three is fucking great too.

02:15:54.920 --> 02:16:24.600
But those are stoner metal, not stoner like Doomrock. Yeah, I prefer the stuff that's more metal to the stuff that's more psychedelic fuzzy. Yeah, these aren't as fuzzy. They're definitely rooted in the kind of 70s sound, but those albums are more metal. They got more 70s after that. Isn't one of the Mott brothers in there? Yeah. Michael, yeah. And it's Pierre Weberg from Opeth. He left, obviously.

02:16:25.080 --> 02:16:51.780
Spice is the singer for those albums. Then he left. So. To live on Dune? I don't know what he did. He had his own thing going on for a while. And I just like his, he had kind of a unique voice. Some of those stoner bands, either they have gravelly voices or they have these really polished singers. And his was in between, which I was liked. Yeah. All right. That's it for me. All right. So we're going to move on to Metal Thunderdome.

02:16:54.900 --> 02:17:24.800
Metal Thunderdome! Metal! Metal Thunderdome! Two bad center, one bad leaves! Metal Thunderdome! And with no previous announcement, John is going to tell us what we are picking against. So, this is what I would have gone with. I think this is a fair one to go with early on. Let's just do it.

02:17:24.920 --> 02:17:54.880
Let's go back to 1994. Let's get cold. Let's put on our Snuggies. I don't think we have to go back to 1994 for that, John. Trust me. For this one, we will. And let's get the liquid Snuggies going, which we've all been doing. Let's get frozen. Let's go to Norway. Emperors in the Nightside Eclipse versus

02:17:54.920 --> 02:17:57.040
Enslaves Frost.

02:17:57.780 --> 02:17:58.000
Go.

02:17:58.800 --> 02:17:59.500
You bitch.

02:18:00.440 --> 02:18:02.099
We haven't done a black metal one yet.

02:18:02.860 --> 02:18:04.000
We haven't gotten cold.

02:18:04.800 --> 02:18:05.660
Let's freeze, baby.

02:18:05.900 --> 02:18:07.240
Oh, man.

02:18:07.599 --> 02:18:08.540
I'm not going first.

02:18:08.940 --> 02:18:10.240
Nightside versus Frost.

02:18:10.840 --> 02:18:18.519
Now, most people would say Emperor right off the bat because that's like the black metal of that time.

02:18:18.620 --> 02:18:20.820
However, Frost is pretty good.

02:18:21.739 --> 02:18:24.019
I kind of wish I would have been able to listen to these.

02:18:24.059 --> 02:18:53.679
No, go. Let's make it tough. Keith goes first. Yeah, that's an easy answer for me. I'm going to go Emperor with that one. I love Enslaved. I've seen them a whole shitload of times live. Fucking amazing band. I like what they're doing now better, but I'm not a huge black metal guy, but Emperor is like the one black metal band that I fucking love.

02:18:54.080 --> 02:19:23.519
And I think they're amazing. And the Nightside Eclipse is a fucking masterpiece. It can't be fucked with. That's all there is to it. You do not fuck with Nightside. No, it's unfuckwithable. It is just a genre-defining masterpiece. And even for people who aren't into the genre like me, I just think that album kicks ass. Excellent. All right, Mark is on.

02:19:24.080 --> 02:19:53.000
Yeah, it's also an easy one for me. Because in 1994, when we did our Top 50 at 50, I selected this album as my best album of that year. And it's Emperor. And then I set Eclipse. That's one of the best black metal albums ever. And you know how much I love Enslaved. But I totally agree with Keith D. 100% of this.

02:19:53.120 --> 02:20:22.680
I like Enslaved After. I love Enslaved Later Enslaved. Yeah, they keep getting better, man. Not that I didn't like them in the beginning. I've always liked them. But they're like a fine wine, man. So, yeah, I think this is easy and I've already chosen it. So, thankfully, because I felt like I have to listen to these again. But when I thought about it for a second more, I just loved that in the Nightside Eclipse album.

02:20:22.740 --> 02:20:52.220
It's absolutely phenomenal as far as black metal goes. It's royalty. Yeah. All right, Matt. In the words of Tom, I might hate myself tomorrow morning, but I am going to also go with Emperor because of a very similar, I mean, it's basically kind of that same thinking of I probably didn't fall in love with them until post-Frost. And honestly, Eson has one of the best black metal voices there is. It sounds like he's choking on broken glass.

02:20:52.280 --> 02:21:21.880
And I love it. I'm going with Hempur. All right. John. Oh, wait, no, John's last. John's last. Jay. This is an easy one for me, too, even though it's funny because we all loved In Slaves so much, so I guess it's pretty obvious what I'm going to go with here. But when I was first starting to get into and understand the Norway stuff, which was a couple years after it happened, I'm sure Dark Zone had six records out before I really put my toes in it. And so I would go online and read and blah, blah, blah and see what should I be getting.

02:21:22.000 --> 02:21:50.220
and I got all these different things. A lot of bands we don't talk about anymore, by the way, that were part of that whole movement. But everybody kept saying in the nightside eclipse on all these lists. And I got it and I totally got it. Like it was one of the things that even opened the Norwegian thing up more for me at that time. And I just was like, okay, yeah, no, I totally understand what's going on here and blah, blah, blah. So that record was actually literally my entry into understanding what was happening in Norway at the time.

02:21:52.020 --> 02:22:21.980
to go to Nightside Eclipse. All right. So... With all due respect to Frost, which we all had the good fortune of seeing played live from start to finish, which was a great experience and to be afforded that experience and how much we just like universally love enslaved on this podcast. So... Yeah. Yeah. But pretty... I mean, that record is so epic. The Nightside Eclipse is just so epic. So... You may not know this, but I'm a bit of a productionist.

02:22:26.239 --> 02:22:51.740
And so little bit. So when you first said this, I was like, Oh yeah. Okay. All right. Frost. Okay. And I was, I initially leaned frost because, uh, I just, I liked that better. However, then I took into account the 20th anniversary remastered version of in the night side eclipse. And that just blew frost out of the water because they,

02:22:52.060 --> 02:22:58.760
that up so well that it is just fucking brilliant yeah it was brilliant before but it's much more

02:22:59.100 --> 02:23:05.960
listenable now yeah i'm gonna have to go emperor gonna be might be a clean sweep maybe john's gonna go the

02:23:05.960 --> 02:23:09.400
other way we'll see will just said fuck both those bands

02:23:12.600 --> 02:23:17.160
has will even listened to emperor before i have no idea that's a good question actually

02:23:18.040 --> 02:23:18.640
It's me.

02:23:19.400 --> 02:23:20.120
What's gonna happen?

02:23:21.160 --> 02:23:23.040
I'm gonna be the dissenting pick here.

02:23:23.340 --> 02:23:23.580
Uh-huh.

02:23:23.880 --> 02:23:27.480
And I'm only doing it for one reason and one reason only.

02:23:28.780 --> 02:23:35.220
Nightside is a thousand times better live than it is on album because there's no symphonics on it.

02:23:35.620 --> 02:23:37.060
It's just straight black metal.

02:23:37.570 --> 02:23:38.400
And I love it.

02:23:38.860 --> 02:23:41.840
Emperor way more live than I do on album.

02:23:42.100 --> 02:23:42.480
That's legit.

02:23:42.770 --> 02:23:43.440
No, I'll buy that.

02:23:44.640 --> 02:24:14.620
George when you and Matt both you guys were there and you it's mentioned about watching that I watched it live and I was like fuck they are so good live and plus I love Esau I've seen Esau twice or Esau whatever twice on his own and he's so good live and I'm like man I like you better live dude their live album is actually my favorite it's so fucking good yes so good and so I have a jaded view

02:24:14.620 --> 02:24:44.560
on Emperor, as much as I like them, I like them, which you don't usually say a lot of times about bands. It's very rare you can say, oh, I like them better live than I do on album. That's one of the bands for me. So I'm going with Enslaved. And plus, none of you guys picked Enslaved, so fuck that. I'm not going to let them get strung up and left out there. I almost went there. I'm not going to leave them out there without a snuggie. You can't, John, because it's your pick. You got to give at least one shout out to them. And so I would ask anyone,

02:24:44.620 --> 02:25:14.320
who's listening to seriously go back and listen to both albums. Don't just assume because Nightside is so much of an important record, not just a black metal, to metal in general. Give them both a listen. Don't just right away say, oh, this is way better. Give them a, be surprised. But we couldn't, John. Not us. I said to our listeners. Oh, yeah. It's not us. Oh, we've all listened to these albums a thousand times. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, we could do this pick easily. Yeah. Yeah. Yep.

02:25:14.640 --> 02:25:44.600
Now, what that said, Nightside is literally right underneath. There's no space between. It's like the stones, you know, at one of these like ancient sites. We're like, how did it get them so damn close to each other? You can't slip a piece of paper between. Yeah, it's that close. So. All right. There you go. We will post that online and let everybody else vote for it as well. Yeah. Nightside is going to crush it, but whatever. Yeah. Yeah. All right. We have one last order of business, and that is the

02:25:44.620 --> 02:26:13.140
the album of the episode. What is your album of the episode, Keith? Anything mentioned by anybody? I knew it. My album of the episode is Webley Edwards Presents the Hawaii Cause Deluxe Set. It's a burlap sack vinyl jacket containing four full albums of all your favorite Hawaiian hits.

02:26:14.640 --> 02:26:40.660
Three all-time best-selling Hawaiian albums, 36 famous performances by Alfred Apaka, and other favorite singers and instrumentals of the islands. Check it out. Get it at your local Rose Records or Sam Goody or Flipside. Sam Goody. Rainbow Records. Yeah, please check it out. Great album.

02:26:46.399 --> 02:27:13.940
That's what she said. Always. That's a really, that we've talked about here. I think I'm just going to go with Breaths, because it was my album of the month. It was pretty recent. And Under the Radar, I want people to listen to that one a little bit more, because I really love it. I've listened to it a ton since it came out, and this hits me in the feels for sure.

02:27:14.620 --> 02:27:44.560
And it's, if it came out in vinyl, it would be a double vinyl, but it does not feel like that. It goes by pretty quick. And as an old fart, I like shorter albums, usually like Mutate Man, 38 minutes. But Breath's Floorway, it's majestic. So I really like that record. Music to my ears to hear people saying they like 40 minute albums. There's something about the magic of a 40 minute vinyl album. I mean, if you can do a longer album, that's the thing.

02:27:44.620 --> 02:28:12.420
But that's what I like about breaths. I think it's might be over an hour. I think I don't feel it. And that's not usually the case. Yeah, it's varied enough. I'm into it enough that I can listen to it all the way through. And it does not bother me the length at all. And I haven't. That's a great compliment to a record these days, right? Soundbite. Yeah. The length doesn't bother me at all. Never does. All right.

02:28:14.660 --> 02:28:44.600
Smear Campaign Against Me for something I have no control over. As a small child. But because the album Leviathan by Mastodon was mentioned, I would choose that. If I were to choose a different album that was mentioned on the episode, it would be the album Remission by the band Mastodon. Son of a bitch. Son of a bitch. Now we're going to have to pay Keith for another

02:28:44.680 --> 02:29:14.060
Bumper. Shit. If I had to mention a third album not tied to a contract, it would be Profane Meltdowns by the band Fight School. Man, I hope he fights Keith D. I really hope. I'm just so glad somebody gets it. Definitely. All right, John. I would love to do David Boy,

02:29:14.120 --> 02:29:43.400
I play Santa Monica 72 for Jay, but I'm not going to. I'm going to do the album behind me, Disconnected from Fate's Warning. So happy to finally get it on vinyl. It's one of my favorite Fate's Warning albums. Just say that. Right. Jay. You know what? I will do something for John. I'll say my album of the episode, it was Enslaved Frost. Even though you went the other way. Seems like a conflict. Not as good as the other album, but let's do it.

02:29:44.140 --> 02:29:46.140
is the quality of this episode.

02:29:46.420 --> 02:29:48.180
And it's got the quality of,

02:29:48.640 --> 02:29:50.740
with all the due respect to our wonderful,

02:29:51.040 --> 02:29:51.540
handsome guest.

02:29:52.200 --> 02:29:52.300
Yeah.

02:29:52.850 --> 02:29:53.000
Well,

02:29:53.210 --> 02:29:54.100
just to get it up there again,

02:29:54.800 --> 02:29:55.100
this way,

02:29:55.160 --> 02:29:58.220
Jay can say like both albums just for different reasons,

02:29:58.550 --> 02:29:59.260
a bit of a cheat.

02:29:59.500 --> 02:29:59.660
Yeah.

02:30:00.660 --> 02:30:01.080
All right.

02:30:01.410 --> 02:30:02.740
I was going to go with them.

02:30:02.860 --> 02:30:03.720
You toyed man album,

02:30:04.540 --> 02:30:08.060
but since Keith opened the door to a non metal album,

02:30:08.300 --> 02:30:09.740
I'm going to go with concrete blondes,

02:30:09.780 --> 02:30:10.240
bloodletting.

02:30:11.120 --> 02:30:11.560
Nice.

02:30:11.880 --> 02:30:12.420
Nice choice.

02:30:13.420 --> 02:30:13.480
Nice.

02:30:13.480 --> 02:30:43.240
I do like that song on my record too. Yeah. I'd like to get Keith's thoughts on that album. Yeah. I remember hearing that. My sister had the tape. And it's, yeah, good songwriting, really good production, good mix. Yeah. Solid band. Awesome. I love that chick's voice, man. Yeah. Jeanette. Really, like, that song Joey is such a heartbreaker, and it's, it's, that's a kind of a timeless song. Yeah. It is.

02:30:43.260 --> 02:31:11.520
It's like more than just a hit of that year. It's like one of those things that fits in with things that just live in a good way. And I don't hear it anymore. It doesn't come up on the radio or anything, but it's a really pretty song. I really can't say anything about that album right now. Yeah. Fair enough. He's contractually obligated to wait until Monday. There's a gag order until Monday night. It's called the non-disclosure agreement. Yes. Yeah. I don't have to pay Keith to tell me I can't listen to Concrete Blonde either. Or Peter Gabriel or Faith's Warning.

02:31:13.500 --> 02:31:42.900
All righty. Well, here we are at the end. Will never showed up. He's probably going to show up 10 minutes after we're done and be like, where are you guys? Hey, he just messaged us. He said, you're still casting. Not anymore or not. I'll take two seconds and not on behalf of everybody, but just thanks, Keith, for your time. You're always fun to listen to and talk to and the whole thing. Yeah, yeah. If I can just be serious for a moment, just for a moment. I really appreciate what you guys do.

02:31:42.940 --> 02:32:12.760
And I humbly thank you for giving me the time of day and giving a shit at all. It's really difficult nowadays to, with how saturated everything is to, to get anyone to give a shit about what you're doing artistically. So I really appreciate what you guys do and your commitment to the genres. And real quick, if you have a moment, I would just like to give out some awards. I have some awards to give. Is that okay?

02:32:12.940 --> 02:32:42.740
Yeah, of course. Yeah. Okay. So award for best sound goes to George. George, you sound fucking amazing. We're both using the same microphone, but you sound way better than I do. So sometime we're going to have to talk shop. All right. Best record collection goes to John. Look at all that. Amazing. Like three times as many CDs as I have. That's like a wall. It's beautiful. I want to sift through it, but I can't.

02:32:43.060 --> 02:33:12.060
Probably won't like most of it, but that's cool. Yeah. Yeah. Best lighting goes to Matt. Look, he looked like he's on stage. Holy shit. It looks incredible. Good Lord. It's amazing. It's like you're on a photo shoot or something. You're on a spaceship. That would be Matt. It's the pretty one. Matt's models.com. Best location goes to Jay. Good job. You're near Santa Rosa, right? Yes. You're closer to it than I am.

02:33:14.461 --> 02:33:42.380
That's impressive. Amazing brewery there with the Pliny the Elder. Russian River. And IPA. Anytime you want to send me a couple bottles of that, I sure would appreciate that. He's moving soon, though. I'm here for a while. Send me your address. Keith, get your address to George, and I will literally send you a couple bottles of that. Nice. Yeah, I will get you back one way or another. That's one of my favorite beers. So good.

02:33:42.460 --> 02:34:11.280
I only got to try it when I was visiting there myself. You should come to the Decibel in the spring in Philly. We drink all the plenty. Just show up on Thursday. You don't have to go to the festival. Just show up on Thursday night when we get hammered. I won't even tell you I'm showing up. I'll just show up. Keith is there. He'll be like, what the fuck is this? We have to share the plenty. You or Butch. If Butch wants to show up, we'd be okay.

02:34:12.460 --> 02:34:42.400
I have a lot of family in Northern California there, so that place is very special to my heart. Yeah. Yeah, but decibels in Philly. You don't have to go as far. Yeah, yeah. Best use of the color blue in an outfit goes to Margie-san. For those of you who are listening, literally everyone here is wearing a black and white T-shirt, except for this guy who chose to stand apart from the crowd. Because I didn't already stand apart from the crowd.

02:34:42.460 --> 02:34:43.720
That's a suburban dad luck. Yeah.

02:34:44.020 --> 02:34:45.740
No, it looks great.

02:34:46.340 --> 02:34:48.740
And you're also runner up for best Mohawk.

02:34:48.940 --> 02:34:53.340
So just real quick.

02:34:53.480 --> 02:34:54.040
I want us,

02:34:54.440 --> 02:34:57.340
this is going to sound vaguely sexual.

02:34:57.580 --> 02:34:58.520
You want to touch tips?

02:34:59.240 --> 02:34:59.580
Let us,

02:35:00.260 --> 02:35:03.320
let's take out our Conan swords here right now.

02:35:03.520 --> 02:35:04.600
I've got mine right here.

02:35:04.720 --> 02:35:05.980
It's the Atlantean sword.

02:35:06.180 --> 02:35:07.900
You've got yours right behind there.

02:35:08.060 --> 02:35:09.420
He's busting it out right now.

02:35:09.820 --> 02:35:10.560
We're whipping it out.

02:35:10.940 --> 02:35:35.220
Oh man, that thing is way more realistic than mine. Holy shit. What's your cheap sword? This is like, Oh, you've got it. You've got the, because you have the Atlantean sword. I have Conan's father's sword. Oh shit. Okay. Yeah. All right. Either way, we are wielding. We are brothers forever. Wielding real steel. And I think.

02:35:42.159 --> 02:35:44.480
It's fucking amazing and good job

02:35:45.360 --> 02:35:46.740
to every one of you

02:35:46.800 --> 02:35:48.880
and I appreciate you having me here very much

02:35:49.340 --> 02:35:50.440
We appreciate you coming

02:35:51.579 --> 02:35:55.100
Also, gotta stop and thank George for getting out of his

02:35:55.240 --> 02:35:56.520
You did it, George

02:35:57.760 --> 02:35:58.880
You did it

02:35:58.940 --> 02:36:00.060
That's freaking awesome, dude

02:36:00.540 --> 02:36:01.460
It's not easy

02:36:02.360 --> 02:36:03.820
I hope you're going straight back to bed

02:36:04.140 --> 02:36:05.500
I hope you get well soon

02:36:05.620 --> 02:36:08.540
I would bring you some chicken broth if I lived nearby

02:36:08.740 --> 02:36:09.840
I make it really good

02:36:09.860 --> 02:36:39.300
Yeah. You just get a hold of me in October when we'll have some beers and burgers. Yeah. Yeah. Awesome. One more time. Feel better, George. Thank you. Thank you. Good thoughts for you, buddy. You'll be better soon. I will. And thank you for your thanks, Keith. You make it really easy to like what you do. So it's not like it's worked for us. All right. We should probably stop kissing each other's asses and get out of here. Are you sure?

02:36:39.860 --> 02:37:08.400
If we hurry, we could be under three hours. We did good. I'm proud of us. Yeah. All right. I have a cigar waiting for me. Ooh, nice. Nice. We could do that, too. All right. All right. Thanks for coming, Keith. Talk to you soon. Thanks, Keith. See everybody next time. Get better, George. Thanks. Don't do anything I would do. That you would? I'm going to do everything you would do. Fucking sword's heavy. Don't end up like me.

02:37:09.880 --> 02:37:19.120
You're talented and stuff. God. Make better choices, kid. Yeah. Be Butch. Always be Butch. All right, guys. See ya. Thank you so much.

02:38:06.899 --> 02:38:09.820
With distance unto

02:38:09.840 --> 02:38:12.920
I woke up.

02:38:13.700 --> 02:38:17.840
Burning villages, darkening the sky.

02:38:19.960 --> 02:38:22.820
The Black Fortress has appeared.

02:38:25.640 --> 02:38:30.120
At this time, the beast has arrived.

02:38:33.020 --> 02:38:36.320
Listen what's given me to know.

02:38:36.820 --> 02:38:41.080
But somehow I always knew

02:38:44.820 --> 02:38:48.280
There is one thing that I cannot know

02:38:50.020 --> 02:38:52.760
Let the prophecy be true

02:38:56.880 --> 02:38:58.660
Prophecy of cold

02:39:02.560 --> 02:39:06.800
Prophecy of cold

02:39:08.479 --> 02:39:32.600
Prophecy of Krull Prophecy of Krull And the girl of ancient name Destined to become the queen

02:39:36.820 --> 02:39:37.640
The King

02:39:40.900 --> 02:39:44.720
And the sun shall rule the galaxy

02:39:48.220 --> 02:39:51.120
Listen what's given me to know

02:39:53.100 --> 02:39:56.340
But somehow I always knew

02:39:59.860 --> 02:40:04.800
There is what they dare I cannot know

02:40:04.800 --> 02:40:11.600
If the prophecy be true...

02:40:12.100 --> 02:40:13.760
Prophecy of gold

02:40:17.460 --> 02:40:20.240
Prophecy of gold

02:40:29.800 --> 02:40:32.060
Prophecy of Crow

02:41:58.900 --> 02:41:58.920
I'll see you next time.
